CAS Watercolor Card Challenge: Vellum

I rarely use Vellum,  but was inspired to play along with the
CAS Watercolor Card Challenge:Vellum after seeing all the gorgeous
vellum cards by the very talented DT and GD.

The challenge ends tomorrow, the 24th at midnight.
I am just under the wire:-) Thank you Jenny for your fun Challenge.

I was inspired by Loll's beautiful Christmas snow card.
Check out her card for her tips and techniques.

Here is my attempt with a vellum CAS Card.

I also used Brushos.  I used Ultra Marine and Purple Brushos on SU Vellum CS
and spritzed with water.

I blotted vellum with paper towel then placed large acrylic block to weight down
and help prevent most of the curling.  I was only planning to use part
of the background, so not concerned with the curling.
Let sit overnight with the block to air dry.

Dry Embossed entire background with SU Decorative Dots EB Folder for my snow.

Die cut vellum background with CUTplorations ATC Tag Builder Die
and attached to SU Pacific Point CS using SU fine tip glue pen.
Weighted down with block until dry.  Dried quickly.

I die cut the CUTplorations Trendy Christmas Trees
Coordinated Dies with the extra vellum background.
Also die cut trees and ATC out of white craft foam and attached to vellum pieces.

Then used MISTI to ink sentiment with a Zig marker.
I used STAMPlorations Trendy Christmas Trees sentiment
and stamped on vellum. Curled vellum under background and attached with tape.

Attached main image to SU Whisper White 100# CS.
Next attached trees to main image.  Used fine tip glue pen and weighted down.

Done and thankful I had Loll's step by step instructions.
Thank you my friend for always inspiring me....Hugs!

Twofer Card Challenge #9 Leaves

I could not resist the Twofer Card Challenge #9 Leaves!

Thanks Darnell aka Dolly for choosing an easy and inspiring Challenge.

My cards using the same Leaves Cover Plate

Both these cards have so much texture from the cover plates,  but went into
very different design directions and for different occasions.

Card #1 Close Up.

I die cut the leaves with AliExpress Leaves Cover Plate,  a gift from my friend,
Christine.  I cut the leaves out of a piece of Alcohol Ink on Yupo background
from...quess what..my stash:-) I do Love how Yupo cuts like butter
through very detailed die cuts and the tiny pieces pop out easily.

I cut a 2nd layer out of mixed media and attached a tiny bit off center to add
a white shadow effect.  IRL the shadow shows up real well .

I attached the 2 layers together with Fine Tip Glue Pen and attached both to card base.

Next I stamped a wood block Happy Birthday sentiment from SU "It's Your Birthday"
stamp set.  My 1st birthday set from Stampin' Up.  I was very pleased with the design.

Card #2 Close Up.

I used the Leaves Cover Plate to die cut a different Alcohol Ink on Yupo background
from my stash,  but this time I cut the piece down to fit the top area
of a piece of 3" x 6" mixed media paper.

Then I placed TCW "Jungle Vines" Stencil under the die cut leaves and
used my Clarity Brushes to brush on Distress Inks: Wild Honey,
Spiced Marmalade and Peeled Paint to give an impression of the smaller
leaves being under the larger leaves.

I recently received a pretty Tall Card from my friend Bonnie that had some beautiful
die cut pieces and a bit of Washi Tape tucked inside that I will use for future cards.

Bonnie's beautiful Tall Card design!

I was inspired by Bonnie's
CAS Tall card design and the scalloped
dry embossed border,  especially since I had the SU border (ret).

I added a small piece of the Alexandra Renke Butterfly Washi Tape to my card.
The Tape is transparent so it looks like it was stamped..so cool!

Next I stamped the sentiment with Archival black using Misti.
Then dry embossed 3 1/2" x 6 " card base and attached image to the card front.

I was very pleased with the results.
Thank you Christine and Bonnie for your inspirations and making my cards
so easy to design:-)

You still have until the 24th to play along in Dolly's awesome Twofer!

Enjoy and Happy Fall Stamping.  Hugs..

Bonnie is hosting our July CAS Mix Up Color Your Die Cuts Challenge.

You will be inspired by all the beautiful cards created by our talented DT
and our awesome Guest Designer, Susan Joyce (Cat's Ink Corporated).

You have until the 24th to play along in this fun challenge!

Using Coloured Die Cut with Zigs + Stamping + Dry Embossing and Splash Watercolouring.

I used a Splash Watercolour Background,
which I die cut with Poppystamps "Floral Stem Collage" Die.

Here is Loll's You Tube video Splash Watercolour Backgrounds 2:25 which I used
for my background.  This technique is also for the
July CAS Watercolour Challenge that I am hosting, starting on July 2nd.

I die cut a SU Whisper White Thick CS with the flower blossom die
and colored with Zigs and spritzed with water using TH spritzer.
Next I used a Signo White gel pen to highlight the veins and added Wink of Stella.

Then I dry embossed SU Very Vanilla Thick CS with SU Brick EB Folder
and mounted my die cut image.  Next popped up
with fun foam onto Very Vanilla card base.

Used a scrap from the background to stamp the Penny Black "Happy Snippets"
sentiment, attaching with SU mini dimensionals and Done!

Hope you get to play along with us at CAS Mix Up.

May CAS Mix Up Reminder

Time for our CAS Mix Up Reminder hosted by Bonnie.

My card using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, Stamping, and Dry Embossing.

I used SU "Layered Leaves" Dynamic Textured Impressions folder,
which gave a dense design onto my Strathmore Mixed Media paper.

A Tip: when using dense designs, break CS fiber by spritzing
lightly with water or bending and sliding gently against edge of table or desk.
This prevents image from cracking.

I cut image down to a panel size and watercolored with T.H. Distress Crayons:
Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron,
Chipped Sapphire and Seedless Preserves for a rainbow effect.

I scribbled each crayon color onto my craft mat and spritzed with water.
I used a #2 watercolor brush to color each rainbow colored leaf.
I had no idea there was so much pigment in Distress Crayons,
so works beautifully for watercoloring.

I watercolored the border with Chipped Sapphire, so colors would match and attached
to SU Whisper White Thick Card Base.

Then stamped the sentiment using Festive Inks Distress Ink.
Adding Rhinestone and Done.

Thank you Bonnie or such a fun challenge.  It was the push I needed to get out my crayons:-)
Be sure and check out all the DT and our talented Guest Designer Jenny (My Paper Epiphany) sample cards.  You have until the 24th to play along.  Hugs...

CAS Mix Up Distress Crayons

Bonnie's hosting CAS Mix Up Gelatos or Crayons Cards Challenge with awesome samples
by our DT and very talented Jenny (My Paper Epiphany)

I was thrilled to see Bonnie's Challenge.  It inspired me to get out my rarely used
T.H. Distress Crayons:-)

Used Distress Crayons + Stamping + Dry Embossing, Sponging and Die Cut

I had so much fun watercoloring my stamped images using my Distress Crayons.
I used the technique from this YouTube Video by Debbie for Ranger:6:32.

I used Strathmore Mixed Media Paper to Dry Emboss my SU "Woodgrain" EB Folder and then lightly colored with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Crayons.
Then moved each layer of color around with Baby Wipes.

Die cut my background with MB Stitched Rectangles Die.
Then stamped my SU "Flowering Fields" (ret) using Archival Black Ink.

Next added a little crayon color to my craft mat and spritzed with water.
Using one color at a time and a #2 paint brush,  colored each flower.
I used Distress Crayons: Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron,
Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire. Sponged Edge..with Vintage Photo.

When dry, stamped and colored the butterfly and added Signo White Gel Pen
to the the white flowers.  Stamped the Hello with MISTI.

Popped up main image onto SU Thick Whisper White CS using fun foam and Done!
I LOVED the results.  I had no idea how easy it was to use the crayons for watercoloring
and how much pigment was in the crayons.  The Colors move beautifully with a paint brush.

You have until the 24th to play along with your Gelatos or Crayons!
Be sure and check out the videos on the CAS Mix Up Challenge. Hugs..

Supplies:
Stamps: SU Flowering Fields (ret). SSS Bouquet of Thanks sentiment.

CAS Watercolour Bird Challenge

Our April CAS Watercolour Bird Challenge is hosted by Bonnie.
Such a fun early Spring Challenge, my friend:-)
Be sure and check out all the fabulous Bird cards by our talented DT
and awesome Guest Designer, Stef (Perry Papercrafts).

You have until the 24th to play along!

Here is my card using 3 die cut birds on a branch!

I am loving my fairly new STAMPlorations "For the Birds" stamp set (my sentiment)
and coordinating CUTplorations "For the Birds" dies.

Bonnie's CAS Watercolour Challenge is perfect for both these sets.  You will be seeing more:-)

My birds and branch were die cut out of a Cling Wrap Brushos and Bisters pigment inks
background from my stash.  I used Brushos: Turquoise and Brown
and Bisters: Blue Black pigments on Strathmore Bristol paper, spritzing liberally with water,
tipping the paper to get the wet ink to run and blend.

Then placed a Cling Wrap (Saran Wrap) piece that was larger than the paper,
over the wet pigment inks and then scrunched up the wrap to move the inks around and add lines.

Next tucked the excess wrap under the piece and set aside to dry.
Be patient...can even let dry overnight.

I set aside my cool die cut birds and dry embossed my SU Thick Whisper White CS
background using my SU Woodgrain EB Folder for added texture.

If I was thinking ahead I would have stamped my sentiment 1st before the dry embossing,
but my MISTI saved me...I repeat stamped my sentiment and got perfect coverage
using Archival Jet Black ink:-)

Then I attached my birds using Tombow liquid glue and popped up
my main image with fun foam onto my SU Thick Whisper White cardbase and Done!

I was so pleased with the CAS design and Loved the Birds!!
Hope  you get to play along too.  You have until the 24th.

Hugs..

Time for our CAS Mix Up February Challenge hosted by our DT member,
Joanna  (Jo-Jo'sSpot).
Joanna always has the most creative and textured CAS mixed media cards!

Here is her Fun challenge!

Here is my card using Cork + Stamping + Die Cuts and EB Folder.

I started by dry embossing my SU hearts border (ret) onto the Gemund Woodland CS
Card Front. Then added the cork trim from my stash to the bottom of the card front.

Next die cut Woodland CS card front using SU "Sunshine Wishes" heart die.  Used same die to die cut the Cork.

Next I used a scrap of white Woodland CS and sponged with Distress Inks: Festive Berries and Barn Door.  Then Die Cut with same heart die.

I attached card front to SU Thick Whisper White card base, so I could inlay
the red die cut heart and inlay die cut cork heart.

Then die cut the LOVE from same die set and attached.
Stamped sentiment using my MISTI onto back of scrap of Woodland CS,
so the colors would match, attached sentiment and Done!

My 1st Valentine for the holiday:-)  Fun using the cork that I have had forever!
Speaking of forever.. the punched heart was my very 1st Michael's purchase years ago!

CAS Mix Up December - Your Choice

Our last month of CAS Mix Up Challenges for 2017. Hosted this month by Loll!

Ina (Little Bits of Craft) is our crafty Guest Designer for December.
Be sure to check out her beauty and the DT's samples.

Stamping + Monoprint Stenciling, Heat Embossing, Die Cutting and Dry Embossing
are my choices!

Close Up showing Heat Embossed sentiment and holly Stenciled Monoprint!

Here is my Stencil Monoprint Technique.

Turned over ARTplorations Mini Holly Stencil onto my craft mat and swiped the back of stencil with Distress Oxide Inks:
Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio and Lucky Charm.

Spritzed ink liberally with water.  Then placed CUTplorations ATC Tag Builder Die Cut, Strathmore Bristol paper layer over inked stencil.  Used a paper towel to rub firmly over the paper to get a good impression of the Holly Stencil.
If you look closely to the photos you will see the holly and berries designs.
I really like the 3 shades of green too.

Next I placed my background in MISTI and stamped the STAMPlorations Typografia Christmas "Christmas in the Heart" sentiment with Versamark, removed from MISTI and heat embossed with SU Cherry Cobbler EB powder.

Framed with SU Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and popped up with fun foam onto SU "Softly Falling" Dry Embossed Whisper White layer.
Attached to SU Thick Whisper White card base and done.

I was inspired after seeing Karen's (Snippets) recent Christmas Stencil Monoprint Card to use a Stencil Monoprint design for a Christmas Card.
Here is Karen's beauty! Thank you for the inspiration my friend.

I made a 2nd card using Typografia Christmas "Peace, Love and Joy".  Two quick and easy cards for my stash.  Getting very close to enough cards:-)  Then I can start baking!!

Enjoy and do come and play along with us at CAS Mix Up until the 24th..."Your Choice"!

Here is my Fall Leaves Birthday card for my forever crafting girlfriend,  Leslie (Running With Scissors).  Leslie has received her card and loved it.  I was so pleased:-)  Happy Birthday my friend.

What would we do without our crafting friends?!?  I made the Bister powder background for my leaves and butterfly while in BC for a stamping Retreat with Loll, Christine and Susan.  I borrowed Christine's Bister powders and used her Thick CS from a local printing shop.

We were playing with the Cling Wrap technique.  I sprinkled Bisters Powders onto my thick cardstock and spritzed with water.  While wet I placed a piece of Glad Wrap onto my piece and scrunched up a bit to get these cool lines and to blend the Bister's colors.  The hard part....waiting until completely dry.  I left my piece to dry over night then carefully removed the cling wrap. Wow!!!  What a gorgeous background!!!

I finished my CAS Card recently by die cutting several leaves using SU Leaflets Dies and punched out the butterfly with SU Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch from my Cling Wrap background.

Next I dry embossed a SU Thick Whisper White card front using a older Cuddlebug leaf EB folder (Leafy Branch).  Then arranged the leaves and shaped butterfly attaching with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen and weighting down with a large acrylic block until dry.   Added linen thread to leaves and stamped my sentiment using MISTI and Archival Jet Black ink.  Done...and loved the results!  The colors and textures are...I think,  Gorgeous!

Hope you get to join our fun Fall Leaves 1st Birthday Celebration.  You have until the 24th to play along.  Happy Fall Stamping my friends.   Hugs..

Time to Celebrate!

Time to Celebrate my DH Denny's 74th Birthday :-)

And the Close Up

Denny is a lover of all nature,  but especially of trees!  I made several Alcohol Ink backgrounds the other day using different shades of green Alcohol Inks using the smooshed AI technique.  I used my Tim Holtz "Woodlands" die to die cut one background, which I had used Tim Holtz Pesto, Lettuce, Juniper and Citrus Alcohol Inks.  I set that tree aside.

I then die cut the same tree in an Arches Cold Press 4" x 5 1/4" card front that I had dry embossed with my SU Woodgrain EB folder.

I used another Alcohol ink background that I had used Tim Holtz Pesto, Lettuce and Pinata Gold Mixative AI,  which gave a gorgeous gold glimmer.

I placed the 2nd piece behind the die cut card front so it would show thru the die cut card front and give another layer for a tiny bit of framing.

Inlaying the die cut tree really made the tree pop.  I love all the different AI colors in the tree.

I added a stamped PB "Heartfelt Thanks" sentiment that I fussy cut and popped up.  Also a strip of leftover AI to ground the tree.

Denny's favorite style is CAS and he is intrigued with alcohol ink backgrounds,  so I think he will really like his card.

My card is for the CAS Mix UP January Challenge...my choice inlaid Die Cutting and dry EB.

Also for the Splitcoaststamping F4A359 Dye's  and SCS CAS210 Show me your new..my new PB sentiment.

And SSS Blog Wednesday Challenge: Something New..My 1st time using the Inlaid Technique with my Woodland Tree Die.

Thank you so much for visiting and especially for your comments. Hugs...

CAS Mixed Media December Reminder

Already time for our CAS Mixed Media December Reminder Card.  So many beauties for the month.

Here is my Reminder.....

I used Stamping + Sponging + My choice Emboss Resist, Die Cut and Dry Embossing

Emboss Resist has been a very favorite technique of mine since I first started stamping 15+ years ago.  I inked my Penny Black "Snow Dust" image with Versamark and stamped onto my Memory Box "Stitched Rectangle" die cut piece.  Then I sprinkled with SU Whisper White EB powder and Heat Set the trees and snow.

My next steps included the sponging.  Using a SU craft sponge I sponged in a circular motion from top to bottom...SU Perfect Plum, Pool Party and Soft Sky.  I then sponged Versamark around the edge and heat embossed SU White EB powder for a snowy looking frame.  I then stamped my sentiment with Archival Jet Black ink.

Next using my Big Shot,   I Dry Embossed a card front using SU Whisper White CS and SU "Softly Falling" Embossing Folder.  I mounted my main image onto my background using dimensionals.

This was a fun card to make using a favorite Penny Black Winter Stamp Image..Snow Dust!

You still have until December 24th to join our CAS Mixed Media December Challenge.   Clean and Simple is perfect for the busiest time of the year!  Be sure and check out all the fabulous samples by the Design Team, Guest Designer and Challenge Gallery.  You will be inspired!  Happy Holidays...
