Time to Celebrate!

Time to Celebrate my DH Denny's 74th Birthday :-)

And the Close Up

Denny is a lover of all nature,  but especially of trees!  I made several Alcohol Ink backgrounds the other day using different shades of green Alcohol Inks using the smooshed AI technique.  I used my Tim Holtz "Woodlands" die to die cut one background, which I had used Tim Holtz Pesto, Lettuce, Juniper and Citrus Alcohol Inks.  I set that tree aside.

I then die cut the same tree in an Arches Cold Press 4" x 5 1/4" card front that I had dry embossed with my SU Woodgrain EB folder.

I used another Alcohol ink background that I had used Tim Holtz Pesto, Lettuce and Pinata Gold Mixative AI,  which gave a gorgeous gold glimmer.

I placed the 2nd piece behind the die cut card front so it would show thru the die cut card front and give another layer for a tiny bit of framing.

Inlaying the die cut tree really made the tree pop.  I love all the different AI colors in the tree.

I added a stamped PB "Heartfelt Thanks" sentiment that I fussy cut and popped up.  Also a strip of leftover AI to ground the tree.

Denny's favorite style is CAS and he is intrigued with alcohol ink backgrounds,  so I think he will really like his card.

My card is for the CAS Mix UP January choice inlaid Die Cutting and dry EB.

Also for the Splitcoaststamping F4A359 Dye's  and SCS CAS210 Show me your new PB sentiment.

And SSS Blog Wednesday Challenge: Something New..My 1st time using the Inlaid Technique with my Woodland Tree Die.

Thank you so much for visiting and especially for your comments. Hugs...

  1. Love all the layers on this card Nancy. Inlaying the tree with the frame is so cool. I have to give this a try! I'm sure Denny will LOVE his card. xx

  2. So amazing how you used the die and your beautiful background Nancy.

  3. This is so perfect for him, Nancy! I love how you used that tree, one of my favorite dies! Gorgeous work with the alcohol inks and the embossed background looks wonderful with this!

  4. What a perfect card for Denny! I must remember it as a great masculine card idea! Gorgeous use of that die - love the way you die cut and coloured it and set it over more AI colours.

  5. You have made an incredible card! I love that every element of the card is with each other so much so united - the background shows the wood grain and the magnificent spruce TH. Well done picture - panel underneath is beautifully colored and wonderful inlaying ... Sensational card!

  6. What a stunning card. It has Denny's name written all over it (well, not literally, of course, but it is definitely his style). The inset work is beautiful, and the second alcohol ink background not only adds texture and depth, it also nicely frames the card front.

  7. Love how you've used two different 'Green' AI backgrounds to make this card. Great texture and such a wow effect x

  8. This is gorgeous :P This whole composition is perfection. The dimension, the greens, the embossing and I love what you did to your sentiment. Truly a work of art, Hugs

  9. love all the natural elements, the many shades of greens, the wood embossing folder and one of my favorite dies. I'm sure Denny will love it :)

  10. I love that die and own it too but the way you used it is fantastic! Must remember that one

  11. Is this ever cool! Love the variation of shades and colors. The dimensions are superb! Thanks so much for playing Simon Says Stamp Wednesday “New Something” Challenge! Beautiful colors and design. Well done!

  12. Well, you know how I love this tree, and your two alcohol backgrounds with the tree inset in the embossed wood grain is genius! Happy belated birthday to Denny!

    1. Denny's birthday is not until the 26th, so not belated yet ;-) You will get to his card IRL on our next visit. So glad you liked it. Hugs....

  13. Wow - this is gorgeous! Love the look and the colors. So reminds me of what it looks like around where you live. I keep forgetting you have a blog. Love it!!! Love your card too. Many hugz - extra ones in fact.

  14. I just recently got this die and I love how you inlaid the tree back into the card minus the middle pieces so the wonderful background showed through.

  15. This card definitely caught my eye. Unique use of layering . As a guy, I like this as it almost has a camouflage look. Yeah, we guys like camouflage. Cheers!
