2023 Valentine for Denny

2023 Valentine for Denny made with Love💖

I  used a Spellbinder Square Hemstitch Die to cut the alcohol ink on Yupo
paper background that I found in my stash.
Then die cut the SSS Stacked Hearts from Yupo so the whites would match.

I attached the pretty background to Yupo using double stick tape.
Then the challenge, attaching the die cut hearts over the background using
Gina K Connect Glue.  The hearts were not sticking!  I finally realized I needed
to weigh down the die cut Stacked Hearts,  which I did with my large SU
acrylic block for several minutes.  Worked great:-)

My loving sentiment, etc is on the inside of the card😍

I added a Yupo layer over SU Basic White card base so all my white layers
matched perfectly!

I  received a beautiful potted orchid from Denny that we get to enjoy for a couple
of months as it is FULL of many buds and a few blooms😄

Hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day too💘

Love and Hugs..

CAS Christmas Challenge Christmas Tree

We all have Tree products..the CAS Christmas Challenge is the perfect time
to get out some trees and add more cards to your Christmas Stash:-)

Thank you Colleen for hosting a fun and easy challenge:-)
Love all the awesome samples by the Design Team and Guest Designer!

My 4 1/4" square Christmas Card

I was thrilled to find a piece of alcohol ink on a tag in my stash!
It almost looks like Northern Lights...I think!

I even had the square die cut card front tucked into the Memory Box "Stitched
Circle Trees" Die envelope.

I cut the background from the tag,  which has a shiny surface and so worked with the
alcohol ink.  Attached background to back of die cut card front.

Added Connect Glue to the background,  trees and snow bank and sprinkled
liberally with SU Dazzling Diamond Glitter.

Placed card front in MISTI and stamped the STAMPlorations "Homespun Christmas"
stamp set sentiment using Archival black ink.

Attached card front to SU Whisper White 100# card base and Done!

I think I will be searching my background boxes for more backgrounds:-)
This is an easy CAS design for making multiple Christmas Cards.

Thank you Colleen and CAS Christmas Challenge for helping me make
my Christmas Stash Grow:-)  Hugs...

CAS Christmas Challenge: Joy

The February CAS Christmas Challenge is filled with "Joy"!
The Challenge is hosted by the very talented Linda with sweet and joyful Christmas
cards by the Guest Designer, Claire (String Bows) and Design Team.
You will be inspired like I was to add to your 2020 Christmas Stash:-)

I took the liberty to add a CUTplorations "Joyful" sentiment from the
"Christmas Sentiments Dies" set!  Hope that it was ok that I did not use a Joy sentiment.
I die-cut the Joyful once from an Alcohol Ink red background from my stash
and 3 more times from
SU Whisper White 100# CS. Then stacked layers using Connect Glue and set aside.

Next die-cut a 4 1/4" square card front using Memory Box
"Large Circle Burst Die".  Attached Alcohol Pearls Ink background to die cut card front.

The beautiful shimmery alcohol pearls ink background was from my stash.
I used Sublime and Tranquil Alcohol Pearls inks for the blue and green tones.
I am hooked on the new Alcohol Pearls inks.  I now have 3 sets:-)

I attached Joyful and card front to card base using Connect Glue and Done!
I loved how my QCAS Christmas card turned out.
I think I will be designing more with Alcohol Pearls Inks and die cut sentiments:-)

Thank you Lin for hosting your fun Christmas Challenge!
You have until the 24th to play along.  Hugs..

Sharing my Alcohol Ink background stenciled card
S

I am using another Ranger Alcohol Ink background from a recent playday.  Here is my
Launch card using a different Alcohol ink background and different stencil technique.

First I die cut my background with Reverse Confetti "Lacy Scallop Frames" Die.

I used the Alcohol Ink Lift Technique on my die cut background.
I placed the ARTplorations Sanna Lippert Designs "Onion in Raws Stencil" over
my Alcohol Ink background and secured with masking tape.

Dribbled Ranger Alcohol Ink Lift Refill onto paper towel and blotted and rubbed off
ink until I got the stenciled look I wanted.

Next popped up  stenciled layer using white craft foam onto SU
Whisper White 100# card base.

Placed STAMPlorations "Shine Bright" Clear Stickers sentiment on scrap
cardstock,  trimmed,  attached to image and Done!

I am loving the QCAS cards I have been designing using stencils.
Thank you again Loll for creating the CAS Stencil Challenge.
I am using all (I have many) of my stencils more often now and have been
so inspired by our talented Design Team, Guest Designers, and followers:-)

Congratulations Loll on your 1st CAS Stencil Anniversary!!! Hugs...

Here is my stenciled card
I had a fun play day recently with my sister, Margie and 2 girlfriends.
We played with Ranger Alcohol Inks on Yupo paper.

I came home with 17,  A2 size backgrounds:-)  You will be seeing more cards
in the near future using some of these backgrounds.

I used blue, teal and purple shades of Alcohol Inks and die cut the background with
CUTplorations "Basic A2 Panels Nesting Dies".

Then placed my new to me ARTplorations "Just Squares Stencil" over background,
securing with masking tape and traced the squares using ultra fine tip black Sharpie.

Die cut black cardstock using a size larger Basic A2 Panels Die.
Lucky me...I found these already die cut flowers and thank you's in my stash.
I stacked 3 Memory Box "Sketch Daisy" die cut flowers and
Poppystamps "Scribble Thank You" sentiments using Correct Glue.
Added the STAMPlorations "Shaker Blends Sequins" for embellishements.

Then dry embossed the SU Whisper White 100# CS card base front
using the "3D Subtle" Embossing Folder.  Love the texture.

Then popped up the panel with white craft foam and attached to card front
and Done!  Loved the results and QCAS design!

You have until the 24th to play along and celebrate our 1st Anniversary:-) Hugs.

French Marigold Tissue Technique Reminder

My CAS Mix Up Tissue Paper Reminder Card

Reminder Close Up

I LOVE this tissue paper technique and now have a stack of backgrounds using different Adirondack Alcohol Ink combos.  You will be seeing more cards in the future :-)

Supplies: Craft non stick mat, Acrylic Sheets..Amazon...007 Clear Craft Plastic 12"x12" 25 sheets..$10.00 (or Window Sheets), Aluminum Foil,  Adirondack Alcohol Inks, Blending Solution and 90% Rubbing Alcohol, White Tissue Paper, Golden's Gel Medium, (or Modge Podge), Sponge Brush, scissors, Dazzling Diamonds glitter (optional)

Step1: cut piece of aluminum foil approximately 8" x11" and lay on craft sheet.

Step 2: drizzle alcohol ink onto foil and spritz with Blending Solution or 90% rubbing alcohol. Alcohol Inks used: Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange and Watermelon.

Step 3: pre-cut acrylic sheets..I used 4" x 4" and 6" x 6" squares.  Smoosh onto spritzed alcohol inks until you are happy with results.  You can spritz more if inks dry too quickly. Lay aside piece to dry with alcohol side UP.   Can add more ink to foil to make more backgrounds.  I ended up with 4 large and 9 small backgrounds.

Do not throw away foil.  Can be used for another technique that I will share in a future post that I learned from my friend Christine :-)

Step 4: When piece dries use foam brush to Paint ON Alcohol Ink Side the  Gel Medium or Modge Podge  (optional..pinch of Dazzling Diamonds or fine glitter to lightly sprinkle onto wet glue) then scrunch up a pre-cut (6x6 or 8x8) White tissue paper and then open tissue leaving the scrunched wrinkles and place over wet glue.  Rub with your hands for good contact.  Turn over piece onto clean paper towel and press more with hands.  Carefully add more glue on edges if necessary.  If glue smudges appear on the acrylic side remove using paper towel and 90% rubbing alcohol.

Step 5: Set aside and let glue dry.  Then trim tissue with your scissors.  Check for more glue smudges and remove with alcohol.  Then you can stamp images or sentiments, etc using Stazon ink.  Other inks tend to smear....wonder how I know that...

Once you get the hang of the steps the technique is so easy and the results soooo beautiful and interesting.

I stamped my new STAMPlorations "French Marigold" flower using my MISTI and Stazon Black ink. Popped up with fun foam ($ store) and glued to SU Basic Black CS for a thin frame.  Then attached to SU Thick Whisper White CS tent fold card base.

I used my brand new Poppystamps "Scribble Thank You" Die,  cutting it out of SU Basic Black CS.

I wish you could see the pretty glitter from the SU Dazzling Diamonds.   The tissue adds a white glow to the background.  So gorgeous in real life.  I hope you get to try the technique too or any tissue paper technique and join the fun at July CAS Mix Up.  There are so many gorgeous samples by our DT and our Guest Designer, Sue (Sue's Card Craft)...plus the Gallery is growing :-)

Sorry about the long description,  but I have not found a video that really works for this technique.

Hugs...LOVE the Stained Glass Look of Technique!

Darnell's NBUS #10 Bubble Wrap

I am playing again in Darnell's NBUS Challenge 3 week blog Birthaversary.  I am playing this time in NBUS #10 with a never before used stamp set and a cool Bubble Wrap Technique. This is Darnell's 3rd and last week for us to play in her really fun challenges and with a chance to win prizes:-) Darnell..I already own prizes 3, 4 and 5.

Here is my card using the fun Bubble Wrap Technique and my new Penny Black "Spread Cheer" stamp set.

I did my technique a little different than Darnell's.  I dropped my Alcohol Inks onto the inside of a Padded Envelope, which has smaller bubbles than your normal bubble wrap packing material.  I then spritzed my inks with Blending Solution and laid my Yupo Paper over the ink with a piece of paper towel over the Yupo Paper and pressed down with my hands.  This was my 1st pull using that technique.  I got 3 more pulls with each being lighter than the 1st,  that I will use for future cards.

Here is a photo of 3 more backgrounds.....

On my finished card I used my MISTI to stamp my Penny Black brush and bird images using Archival jet black ink over my bubble wrap background.  Even with Archival ink you have to be very careful not to smear the ink,  which I did..whoops!  Time for a bit of surgery.  I discovered my SU Baja Breeze CS was a perfect match for the T.H. "Steam" alcohol ink,  so I made an angled corner cut and now have a bit of the CS showing, which I like.

I then die cut my CUTplorations "Birthday Word" using the Baja Breeze CS and stamped my SU "Sunshine Sayings" sentiment on scraps of Yupo and attached all with SU Fine Tip Glue pen weighting down with a large acrylic block for a few minutes.  I attached my card front to my card base and was done.  I really like this card much better IRL.  It is shiny and real artsy looking!  The bubble wrap circles add a really nice texture.

Thank you again Darnell for all your fun challenges and encouraging us to try new techniques and of course use Never Before Used Schtuff!

My card is for another challenge City Crafter #347 Colour Splash Black & White and Splash of Aqua

Happy stamping and bubble wrapping my friends.  Hugs....

Supplies:
Stamps: Penny Black "Spread Cheer".  SU "Sunshine Sayings".  Paper: SU Baja Breeze.  Yupo.  Ink: Pinata Alcohol Ink: Black and White.  Tim Holtz AI: Stream.  Accessories: Big Shot, CUTplorations Birthday Word, SU fine tip glue pen, MISTI, padded envelope bubble wrap.

CAS Mix Up December Sponging

The CAS Mix Up December Challenge...Stamping + Sponging + Your Choice will be great to use on your last Christmas Cards or any other occasion.

Here is my Christmas Card using Stamping + Sponging + My Choice of Die Cuts and Alcohol Inks Background.

I started my main image by using a piece of a Smooshed Alcohol Ink background using Loll's Tutorial on Smooshing Inks.  I thought it made a pretty Wintery Sky.  I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks: Sailboat Blue and Juniper.

I used CUTplorations smallest "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies" to die cut the frame on the main image and largest Die on the card front.

I sponged a piece of Arches Mixed Media paper with Tim Holtz Distress Inks: Shabby Shutters and Mowed Lawn and die cut with Sizzix Tree Line Die.  I then attached to my AI die cut background using SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Then splattered diluted white acrylic paint using a paint brush.

Stamped my SU Christmas Greetings (ret) sentiment using Archival Jet Black ink. Attached my main image with foam tape and done with another Christmas card for my stash:-)

There are so many gorgeous CAS samples for your Inspiration from the Design Team and our Guest Designer for the month...the very talented Maura aka "Beesmom" from Splitcoaststampers.com.

Hope you get to join us with your Clean and Simple Mixed Media card this month.  Happy Holidays..Hugs

I think my tag is self explanatory...so will just add my supplies.  Enjoy and hope you get to play in this weeks Tag You're It Challenge.  Besides Loll's Featured Artist tag,  all the DT and Guest Designers tags are beautiful too.

The Mixed Media Card Challenge #26 Rainbow

Just under the wire,  but finally had a chance to make my "Mixed Media Card Challenge #26"... Rainbow with optional Dragonflies Card :-)  Also added my card to STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge

I already had my Alcohol Ink background that I made recently using Rainbow colors.  I knew I wanted to add dragonflies or in this case..a dragonfly from STAMPlorations stamp set "Winged Things" designed by Shirley of "Bees Knees".  I LOVE this set! You get a total of 12 different sized butterflies and dragonflies :-)

I used "7" Adirondack Alcohol Inks for my background: Watermelon, Sunset Orange, Lemonade, Citrus, Stream, Sailboat Blue and Wild Plum.  I used the rectangle Tim Holtz Blending Tool with a felt pad on the tool.  Dropped one drop of each color (not touching) and then pounced quickly my colors onto a piece of Yupo paper until I got the results I liked.  Loved the results!

When dry I die cut with my CUTplorations "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die"

I used my MISTI to stamp my dragonfly with Archival Jet Black ink, drying with my SU heat tool that has two heat setting.  I used the lower setting.  You can warp the Yupo paper if you are not careful.  I also always blot my stamped black images carefully to make sure completely dry.  Even the Archival ink will smear on Yupo.  You MUST use Archival ink on Yupo.  I then stamped my STAMPlorations sentiment "Big Hugs" from the "Fond Expression" set.  Again heat setting carefully and blotting.  Both the dragonfly and sentiment were stamped more than once using my MISTI.  I masked off the "for you"from the Big Hugs.

My only embellishment...NUVO Crystal Drops...White Blizzard glitter.  Cool glittery drops.  I love how you can make any size you want.  I just drop onto my craft mat and let dry...can take an hour or more, so I do a bunch in different sizes.

I popped up my main image with foam tape....and done!  I was very happy with the results.  Hope you like it too.  Enjoy and thank you for visiting my blog and expecially for commenting.  Hugs....

CAS Mix Up June Challenge

The CAS Mix Up May Challenge was filled with Gorgeous Samples of Heat Embossed Mixed media Cards.  Thank you for joining our challenge.  Here is this months  CAS Mix Up June Challenge.

I can hardly wait to see all the Gorgeous and Creative Die-cut cards this month.  Die-cuts have become so popular the last few years and work so well on CAS designs.  I used my new Penny Black "Trio of Trees" Die-cut set using 2 of my trees on my card.  The really fun part was using "Juniper" and "Pesto" Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Ink refills on a 5" x 7" piece of "Yupo" synthetic paper and watch the magic begin.  The way the alcohol ink spreads is so cool.  I used the lighter "Juniper" color 1st and when dry added the "Pesto".  Let dry and then Die-cut my 3 tree dies twice.  Now I have 4 extra trees for a future project :-)

I decided next to try for a sky background using "Stone Washed" Alcohol Ink.  This time I lightly touched the blue shade to my sponge blending tool and dabbed the ink onto a scrap piece of Yupo until I got the look I liked.  I then Die-cut the background with my Memory Box "Stitched Rectangles Dies" and my card front to make an "Inlayed Die-cut" frame.

I loved the results.  I attached the fir tree to the background with my SU Thin Tip Pen.  Then Die-cut the oak tree again using canvas paper and attached the inked tree for extra thickness and popped up with dimensionals.  To finish my card I stamped the SU "Too Kind" sentiment onto my Arches WC paper using my MISTI and Memento London Fog (grey) ink.  Popped up my card front and done.

I did not need to use WC paper,  but liked the textured thicker look.  I bought my Yupo paper at our local craft shop.  You can find at Art Stores or just google online.  You can also use glossy paper with alcohol inks.  I was very pleased with the Yupo paper.  It is a synthetic paper and does not tear,  but cuts beautifully with dies and cutting tools.

Here is a Close-Up......

Here is the link to video of  Tim Holtz Demo's Alcohol Inks on Yupo at CHA 2016 The video was invaluable I thought.

CAS Alcohol Stenciling Inlaid Hello !

I had so much fun trying out a new "Alcohol Ink Background" using Adriondack Alcohol Ink Refills and a Ranger "Dylusions" Stencil.  My girlfriends Loll, Bonnie and Susan were playing with alcohol inks too.  I went to SCS Tutorials Alcohol Ink Backgrounds for a starting point.  This was my 1st time to use Tim Holtz Adironndack Alcohol ink refills and "Yupo"polypropylene paper.  I was able to get both at my local stamping and craft store :-)

Even though I ended up doing my own thing with the inks,  the tutorial was very helpful.  I wanted to incorporate a stencil so I placed my stencil over the Yopo paper and dropped 3 colors of ink over the stencil then blotted with paper towels without removing stencil until ink dried .  I kept the colors light.  Then when dry I replaced the stencil and painted very loosely with a paint brush Christmas Green Acrylic paint over the background.  I loved the effect so stopped there !  I used my entire 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" piece for my finished card.

I die cut 2 layers with my MB Stitched Rectangles dies and then die cut and inlaid my SU Hello "Greetings" Thinlits Die after die cutting and painting with the acrylic paint.

I added a Dream brad from my embellishment sewing box and a rhinestone.  Really fun and creative card and yet CAS with Mixed Media.  My only stamping was inside my card.  My card is for two favorite  Challenges.
