CAS Stencil Card Challenge March Reminder

The March CAS Stencil Card Challenge hosted by our talented Julia

has been so much fun and inspiring.  So many beautiful cards by our DT and 

Wonderful Guest Designer, Ishani (Quillish)

It is now time for our creative Reminder CAS Cards by our DT and GD.

You still have time to play along until the 18th.

I had so much fun playing that I ended up with a Gift Card Set!

My 1st Card,  Lot's of Love using Distress Oxide Inks.

My 2nd card using different Distress Oxide Inks and different sentiment.

My 3rd card using the same Distress Oxide Inks as my 1st card, but shows what Not to do.

I blended my inks together too much so ghosting did not show,  but still a nice background.

My cards are a 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" format.  I die cut the card fronts with Memory Box

"Large Circle Burst"  Die.

I used Loll's Ghosting Technique Video for my technique.

I sponged my backgrounds with Distress Oxides using TH Mini Blending Tool.

Let dry completely then stamped sentiment using MISTI and heat embossed.

Attached to die cut layer and then to SU Whisper White card base.

I added sequins and tiny pearls for embellishements and Done!

CAS Stencil Card Challenge: Ghosting.

 Welcome to our March CAS Stenciling Card Challenge: Ghosting.

Hosted by the very talented, Julia (Create With Me)!

We are thrilled to have Ishani (Quillish) as our 1st Guest Designer for our new Challenge.

My Ghosting Card

I began by sponging Distress Oxide Inks: Fosilized Amber, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, 

Cracked Pistachio, Peacock Feathers, Salty Ocean, and Faded Jeans using

T.H. mini blending tool onto Strathmore Mixed Media. 

I used Loll's Ghosting Technique.  Here is the link to her awesome You Tube Video.

After background completely dried I placed my background on top of an

acrylic block and laid the Diamond Circles Stencil on top.

Spritzed with water and carefully removed stencil and let set a couple of minutes.

Then blotted with paper towel and watched the ghosting magic:-)

Set aside background to dry and then die cut poppy flower a couple of times and
stacked for more thickness.

  The flower and stencil were gifts from a sweet friend:-)

In MISTI stamped sentiment with Versafine and heat embossed with clear eb powder.

Attached flower and popped up the STAMPlorations Carved Flowers sentiment. which helped ground the poppy.

Next embossed the SU Whisper White Thick CS card front with Penny Black 

Antique Frame Die using SU Big Shot Embossing Mats.

My 1st time to try dry embossing with a die technique,  I was happy with the results.

Popped up the main image with fun foam and Done!

CAS Mix Up October Reminder Card

More CAS Mix Up Ghosting Reminder Cards by the talented Design Team and Guest to Inspire you!

I used Stamping + Stencil Ghosting + my choice..sponging, stencil tracing and monoprint stenciling

I had fun using 3 ARTplorations Stencils: Retro Circles, Bubbles and Christmas Trees.  I sponged the Retro Circles onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper using SU Emerald Envy and Dapper Denim then flipped the stencil over onto Mixed Media paper, covered with paper towel and rubbed the ink onto paper for the Monoprint background layer image.  Hate to waste all that good ink from the sponging!

I fussy cut my sponged tree, covered with the Retro Circle Stencil, sprayed with water and dabbed with paper towel to lift the color,  which gave a Ghosting effect.  My piece needed more,  so I placed my Bubbles Stencil over the tree and traced with my art pen.  Now I liked it :-)  Added my STAMPlorations "Oh, Christmas Tree" sentiment and done.

So happy to have another Christmas card for my stash...even if it is Ghosting Month !

CAS Mix Up October Challenge: Ghosting

CAS Mix Up is celebrating October with CAS Mix Up Ghosting Techniques.  There are so many different Ghosting techniques.  I will be sharing a few videos with you at the end of my description.

I used Stamping + Ghosting with rubbing alcohol on Alcohol Ink Background + Stenciling and Die cuts

My image was the result of Stenciling with Alcohol Ink that did not turn out.  Never give up on AI backgrounds.  I just squirt on some 91% rubbing alcohol and moved the ink colors around with a coffee stirrer.  It gave me a pretty pinkish marbled background.  

I replaced my TCW "Flower Frenzy" Stencil over my dried piece.  Then I used Q-tips and rubbing alcohol to "Lift Color" from the flowers to get my Ghosting effect.  Can you see 5 flowers in the background?  I added NUVO Crystal Drops to 3 of them...that is a hint!

I used my MISTI to stamp with Archival Jet Black Ink my STAMPlorations "Winged Things" dragonfly and masked Fond Expressions 2 "Smile".  You must use Archival Ink on Yupo paper or it will smear.  Even using Archival Inks you have to make sure it is dry, so I always blot carefully.  You can use a heat tool if you do not hold too close and are very careful not to overheat as the paper will warp.  I used my SU heat tool because it has a low and high setting.  

I finished my piece with a 2nd die cut framing layer using my CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die and gave my dragonfly a trail :-)

July CASEplorations Stenciled Mixed Media

When I saw Elina Stromberg's Gorgeous card for STAMPlorations July 2016 CASEploration Challenge I knew I had to join in the fun!  I LOVE Fall colors and stenciling.  Also we have plenty of family and friends with Fall birthdays :-)  I decided to leave off my sentiment for now.  I may just add a sentiment inside.  Just could not add anymore to my Card front...what do you think?

Here is Elina's Beauty...

I started with a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media paper.  I saturated the card front with Distress inks using blending tools.  I wanted to get the lighter shading in the middle like Elins's card so I added my yellow T.H. Distress Crayon and rubbed in with my finger.  Next I used Tim Holtz's Faded Dots stencil and sprayed with Glimmer Mist, which gave a ghosting effect.  Next I stenciled with TCW Time Travel Stencil sponging with Distress Inks.  

I was so happy with the pretty glowing effect.  I sprayed again with more Glimmer Mist...It really, really shines IRL :-)  Sponged the edges with Distress Inks and popped up the sponged and die cut leaves from my stash.  Added a linen thread bow....and Done!  Loved the results.
