CAS Mix Up Card Challenge: Dimensional Die Cuts

I LOVE the February CAS Mix Up Card Challenge:
Dimensional Die Cuts hosted by the very talented Hideko, (Papercraft Boutique)

Be sure and check out the Gorgeous cards by the inspiring DT and
Talented GD Arlene (Sunday Stamper Papercrafts).

My card using Stamping, Die Cuts, Faux Enamel and Heat Embossing.

I had already had ideas for my Valentine for my DH Denny.
I knew I wanted to use this Faux Enamel die cut heart from my stash!
Hideko's Challenge really inspired me to finish my card today:-)

Here are all the Deets and photos of my 1st Faux Enamel bird card.
I made this heart sample the same day I made the birds.

For today's card I die cut an A2 Whisper White Thick card front using
Memory Box Large Circle Burst Die.
Then searched my boxes for a background for colors that went well with the heart.
I found the perfect cling wrap background using Distress Inks.

Attached background behind the die cut Circle Burst.
Then stamped and heat embossed PB Happy Snippet Sentiment
with SU Gold EB Powder. Popped up sentiment with dimensionals.

Next attached faux enamel heart with dimensionals and Done!
I LOVE the results and hope you do too!

The CAS Mix Up Card Challenge ends on the 24th.
So plenty of time to play along:-) Hugs..

CAS Mix Up Cork and New Technique!

Trying a new technique.."Faux Enamel"  after seeing my friend, Kia's (A Place for Kia)
Gorgeous Valentine using the technique.

Kia also shared Simon Says Stamp Video by Marion Emberson,  which I used for my bird.
Here is another YouTube Faux Enamel video by Marion that my friend MaryH shared with me.
Thank you Mary.

My card is also for the February  CAS Mix Up Challenge: Stamping + Felt, Cork or Canvas + Your Choice..Faux Enamel and Die Cuts.

Here is my "Faux Enamel" Bird card.

I had so much fun playing with the Faux Enamel technique.  I ended up with 4 birds and chose my favorite for my card.  Be sure and check out the video above.

I laid a piece of scrap copy paper over my craft mat then a die cut bird.
I die cut my CUTplorations "For the Birds" bird out of  SU Thick Whisper White CS.

Next used a palette knife to carefully scoop up SU Cherry Cobbler EB powder and place onto the head and tail areas.
Did the same with Crushed Curry for the breast and Early Espresso for the rest of the bird.

I then very carefully lifted up the EB powder covered bird with my palette knife.  I wanted to save the excess powder to be used on another bird and also clean off the copy paper.

I carefully replaced bird on copy paper and added a layer of parchment paper,  which keeps the powder from flying...Everywhere!!!

Then used heat tool very close to parchment to melt all the powders.  When the parchment was sticking well to bird I tapped the heat tool over the parchment to help blend the colors. The video shows this technique.

Next step is really fun.  Carefully lift a corner of parchment and remove.  That also blends some of the colors and made the cool looking feathers for the bird.  You will never have 2 images the same.

Be sure and lift image up quickly with knife because will stick to paper underneath.
The excess melted powder can be used for other projects or tossed.

I die cut my window and placed cork behind and attached my bird with Tombow liquid glue.
Die cut branch out of white CS and colored with SU Soft Suede marker.  Then attached branch.

Added SSS Bouquet of Thanks Hello and Done!

I was very happy with the results and still have 3 more birds for future projects.
Thank you again Kia for the "Faux Enamel" Inspiration.
I will be using the technique again!
