TAGplorations May "Things with Wings" Challenge

Here is my tag with punched butterflies out of alcohol ink on Yupo paper scrap!

Here is another sample made at our recent Retreat in BC.

Susan lead this technique.  Stamped open flower stamp from Rubbernecker:
"Sketch Poppies 909"
onto Strathmore Bristol CS.  Used Susan's Faber-Castell Pencil Crayons with Gamsol and stumps to blend the beautiful colors.

The size of the sketch poppies fit perfectly in my large CUTplorations Luggage Tags
Nesting  Die.  I then found these pretty alcohol ink on Yupo paper punched butterflies
in my stash. The colors matched perfectly...love that!

Next placed tag in MISTI and stamped my PB "Happy Snippets" sentiment.

Added SU Calypso Coral Seam Binding and Twine and then Signo White Gel pen
to the center of the flowers.  Done..a pretty and easy project:-)

You will be seeing more finished projects from our fun and creative retreat
in the very near future:-)  Enjoy...

Eat, Sleep, Craft Repeated 2018

Our 2nd annual Creative Craft Retreat in BC
has been so much fun!

Alex took this photo of 6 smiling faces:-)

Christine Alexander, and Darnell Knauss:-)

Be sure and check out all the girls links to their Retreat Posts:-)

We have been playing with new and old techniques for 5 days and still have one
more fun day of techniques, sharing, laughing, chatting and eating delicious healthy meals.

Here is my cool underwater scene card!

I used Christine's stamps and sentiment. The stamped images were from Invisible Image.
The sentiment a Rubbernecker stamp.

I will soon be sharing finished cards with all my backgrounds after I return home.
I did finish one card for this special post
using Alcohol Ink on Yupo paper and blended with Blending Solution.
Then stamped my images with Archival Ink.

I am also sharing photos of our Dirty Pour Canvas Paper Technique using acrylic paints.

Very marbled look with many color variations.   They will make beautiful backgrounds
or can be used for die cuts.

We all have had so much fun creating together and making such wonderful
close friendships.

Our dear friends,  Bonnie Klass and Nance Salkeld joined us via Skype for 3 days!

Once the "technical difficulties" were worked out,  they added to our fun!
We were all jealous of Bonnie's amazing crafting room.

Nance and Bonnie

I will be home in a couple of days and will be catching up with my commenting, etc.
and of course,  gardening.
Having afternoon tea at Susan's and seeing her gorgeous garden's
was a wonderful break from our crafting.
Susan's scones...her grandmother's recipe were delicious.

I am closing with a cute photo that Darnell took of Christine, Loll, Susan and myself
at Susan's beautiful tea party:-)  Hats courtesy of Susan.

Thank you again Christine for hosting our retreat at your beautiful home,  Loll for all the organizing and Susan for the lovely tea party.  Thank you Darnell for always being so entertaining:-)
Sharing link to our 2017 BC Retreat!

Enjoy and Happy Crafting my friends.  Hugs...

Twofer May Butterfly Challenge

Loving how our butterflies are showing up on our flowers.
The perfect Challenge for Challenge #5, Darnell!

I used a NBUS stamp set "Layered Butterflies" designed by Shirley of "Bees Knees".
Shirley is one of the talented designers for STAMPlorations.

Here are my Two Cards.

Here is a close up of my card using Bisters pigment powders for the background.

Of all the backgrounds I made recently on our trailer camping/hiking vacation,
this background with my new (to me) Bisters pigment powders was my favorite.

I just sprinkled Bisters on Strathmore Hot Press paper
and spritzed with water using  my TH spritzer.
I used: Mahogany, Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Natural and black Bisters.

After getting home I finished my card by Die Cutting the piece
with CUTplorations Crazy Double Stitch Rectangle Die.

Then placed in MISTI and Stamped my Butterfly.  Next stamped sentiment
using a piece of Mahogany colored white CS.

Popped image up on SU Whisper White Thick card base using
fun foam and Done!

I loved how it turned out.

Here is the Close Up of my 2nd card.  Same butterfly stamp,  but very different design.

Shirley has many card samples using her new "Layered Butterflies" stamp set.
Be sure and check out her blog (shirley-bee's stamping).

I was inspired by This Gorgeous card by Shirley.  Mine turned out very different,
but still liked the results.  Thanks Shirley.

I used Distress Ink refills:Blueprint Sketch, Dusty Concord and SU
Daffodil Delight inks.  I added small drops of DI's and blew with a straw.
I added the yellow by stamping with the smaller stamps.

Next fussy cut my butterfly and set aside.
Then used diluted splatters of the blue and yellow inks for a background.

Then stamped the sentiment and die cut the card front with Penny Black Antique Frame Die.

Shaped my butterfly with my bone folder and popped up with dimensionals.
Finally popped up the main image with fun foam and done.

I would like to try Shirley's technique with Alcohol Inks on Yupo paper.

Thank you Shirley for the inspiration and your awesome new stamp set:-)

Be sure and check out the fun challenge and wonderfully creative Twofer designs
by Darnell and her amazing DT and GD plus...the growing gallery!
You have until the 24th to play along. Hugs.

CAS Watercolour Reminder

Hosted by Loll

Here is my Rainbow card filled with Hugs!

I had so much fun watercoloring my Distress Ink Rainbow colors.
Added ink to small rectangular acrylic block and spritzed with water using TH Spritzer,
then stamped onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper.

I used these Distress Inks: Candied Apple, Spice Marmalade, Wild Honey,
Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet.

I repeated my acrylic block stamping twice more for a real vibrant effect.
Drying between layers.
Next I die cut my piece with my MB Stitched Rectangle Die.

To add more dimension and pull the colors together,  I drew the circles
with my Staedler Pen using my Kaisercraft "Bubbly Stencil"!

Then added my CUTplorations "Hugs" word die that I cut
from a scrap in my Distress Ink Smooshing Stash,
popping it up on a black die cut Hugs for more dimension and a shadow effect.

I then attached my main image with fun foam to my SU Whisper White card base.
And Done!  Loved the vibrant rainbow colors.

You have until the 24th to play along at CAS Watercolour. Be sure and check out
the gorgeous samples by our DT and awesome GD Hannelie (desert diva).

May CAS Mix Up Reminder

Time for our CAS Mix Up Reminder hosted by Bonnie.

My card using Tim Holtz Distress Crayons, Stamping, and Dry Embossing.

I used SU "Layered Leaves" Dynamic Textured Impressions folder,
which gave a dense design onto my Strathmore Mixed Media paper.

A Tip: when using dense designs, break CS fiber by spritzing
lightly with water or bending and sliding gently against edge of table or desk.
This prevents image from cracking.

I cut image down to a panel size and watercolored with T.H. Distress Crayons:
Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron,
Chipped Sapphire and Seedless Preserves for a rainbow effect.

I scribbled each crayon color onto my craft mat and spritzed with water.
I used a #2 watercolor brush to color each rainbow colored leaf.
I had no idea there was so much pigment in Distress Crayons,
so works beautifully for watercoloring.

I watercolored the border with Chipped Sapphire, so colors would match and attached
to SU Whisper White Thick Card Base.

Then stamped the sentiment using Festive Inks Distress Ink.
Adding Rhinestone and Done.

Thank you Bonnie or such a fun challenge.  It was the push I needed to get out my crayons:-)
Be sure and check out all the DT and our talented Guest Designer Jenny (My Paper Epiphany) sample cards.  You have until the 24th to play along.  Hugs...

STAMPlorations Things with Wings CAS Challenge

All the STAMPlorations May Challenge Themes are "Things with Wings".
So many inspiring projects by the amazing DT.

Here is my birthday card for our 9 year old grandson, who has chickens!

I was inspired by Linda's (Life in the Craft Lane) cute "Fowl Play" birthday card!
Thank you, Linda.

I used my MISTI to stamp my"Fowl Play" chicken, so it looked like the hen
was holding the balloon strings.
Then stamped the hen again on a scrap of Strathmore Mixed Media paper and colored
using Zig markers and aqua painter brush.  Fussy cut body of hen and wing and set aside.

Next stamped the "Tweet Love" balloons with Archival black ink using MISTI
and colored with Zigs.
Next attached the colored and fussy cut hen.

I used my MISTI again to stamp the "Tweet Love" sentiment and chick.
Finally I added a strip of paper that I colored the same as the chickens to balance my scene.

Such a fun card to design for our chicken loving grandson:-)

Enjoy and happy stamping.  Hugs...

Inking with Tape Splitcoaststampers Technique Challenge

My good friend, Karen (Snippets) is hosting Splitcoaststampers
Technique Lover's Challenge this week.  The challenge date is always open.

Karen's challenge is "Inking with Tape".  Be sure and check out her blog for the photo
tutorial. Here is the SCS Challenge Link too for the gallery of samples.

Here is my "Inking with Tape" Card!

I wanted a white border,  so masked off the edge of my Strathmore Bristol paper
using 3M Masking Tape.

Next came the fun of using a small piece of same masking tape to stamp
background with Distress Oxide Inks: Antique Linen, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber,
Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick.

I then used my TH Spritzer to spritz water on my inks for a
more blended look.  Let Dry.

Then die cut my layer with CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Die.

Placed my layer in my MISTI and stamped using my new STAMPlorations
"Create Your Own Sunshine" sentiment,  which is a stamp from the new
 "Say It Big" Collection.

I added a rhinestone to the i and Wink of Stella to the sentiment.  Popped up
on fun foam and attached to SU Whisper White Thick Card Base and Done!

Such a Quick and Easy CAS design.  I really liked the results too.

Thank you Karen for a fun, new to me technique, my friend.  Hugs....

Springtime and Rainbows are a beautiful combination!
Here is Loll's May CAS Watercolour Card Challenge.

You are going to love all the gorgeous samples from our DT
and our very talented GD Hannelie (desert diva).

Here is my SSS Luminary Circles Dies using Rainbow Distress Oxide Inks!

I sponged T.H. Distress Inks:Candied Apple, Spice Marmalade, Wild Honey,
Lucky Clover, Salty Ocean, and Wilted Violet onto
Strathmore Mixed Media paper. Then used my aqua painter to spread watercoloured inks.

Next die cut my background with SSS "Luminary Circles Die".
Using my new SSS Marvy Jewel Picker made picking up
and gluing each circle thru the die negative onto SU Thick Whisper White CS,
so quick and easy. I Loved the result.

I think this Jewel Picker is a must have tool for picking up sequins, etc.

Next I die cut the XOXO from a scrap of watercoloured background
and glued onto cardstock.  Then popped up with fun foam.

So colorful and fun.  Thanks again Loll for a cool challenge.

CAS Mix Up Distress Crayons

Bonnie's hosting CAS Mix Up Gelatos or Crayons Cards Challenge with awesome samples
by our DT and very talented Jenny (My Paper Epiphany)

I was thrilled to see Bonnie's Challenge.  It inspired me to get out my rarely used
T.H. Distress Crayons:-)

Used Distress Crayons + Stamping + Dry Embossing, Sponging and Die Cut

I had so much fun watercoloring my stamped images using my Distress Crayons.
I used the technique from this YouTube Video by Debbie for Ranger:6:32.

I used Strathmore Mixed Media Paper to Dry Emboss my SU "Woodgrain" EB Folder and then lightly colored with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo and Walnut Stain Distress Crayons.
Then moved each layer of color around with Baby Wipes.

Die cut my background with MB Stitched Rectangles Die.
Then stamped my SU "Flowering Fields" (ret) using Archival Black Ink.

Next added a little crayon color to my craft mat and spritzed with water.
Using one color at a time and a #2 paint brush,  colored each flower.
I used Distress Crayons: Peeled Paint, Twisted Citron,
Seedless Preserves and Chipped Sapphire. Sponged Edge..with Vintage Photo.

When dry, stamped and colored the butterfly and added Signo White Gel Pen
to the the white flowers.  Stamped the Hello with MISTI.

Popped up main image onto SU Thick Whisper White CS using fun foam and Done!
I LOVED the results.  I had no idea how easy it was to use the crayons for watercoloring
and how much pigment was in the crayons.  The Colors move beautifully with a paint brush.

You have until the 24th to play along with your Gelatos or Crayons!
