CAS Mix Up August Alcohol Ink Reminder

Thank you everyone for your inspiring and gorgeous alcohol ink cards for our CAS Mix Up August Challenge!  I am thrilled to see so much enthusiasm for all the techniques. It has been so much fun hosting the challenge this month :-)

Stamping + Ranger Alcohol Inks + Inlaid Die Cuts

Reminder Card!

I went through my Tim Holtz Alcohol ink background stash and found this beautiful piece.  Perfect for a Christmas card design.  I used my new Poppystamps "Scribble Snowflake Circle" Die and older Memory Box "Merry Christmas" Die.

First I did all my die cutting on my card front and attached the pieces with scotch tape on the back side. Then attached the background piece and what a pleasant surprise.....look at the cool river, mountains and cloudy sky scene behind the wreath! Alcohol ink is always providing surprises, which makes it so creative and fun!  You can Never duplicate a piece!

I used the Drip and Smash (or Smoosh) technique.  I followed This video..Eclectic Drip and Smash. 2:42.  I did not add any metallic inks on my piece,  but it can be a gorgeous addition.

After finishing my card I realized I had not used stamping.  I just added the stamped "& Bright" and now my card follows the rules:-)

Enjoy my CAS Mix Up Reminder card and be sure and check out all the samples from the DT and our GD, Trina.  So many amazing cards to inspire you.  Happy Stamping my friends.  Hugs.

CAS Mix Up August Alcohol Inks Challenge

Thank you again Loll and Bonnie for inviting me to host a 2017 CAS Mix Up Challenge !

I chose Alcohol Inks for my August 2017 CAS Mix Up Challenge.  I have had so much fun this past year trying out Alcohol Ink Techniques.

Here is one of my very favorite techniques: Alcohol Ink Stenciling!

Stamping + Alcohol Ink Stenciling + Dies

My  alcohol ink color combo: Tim Holtz: Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, Watermelon, and Lettuce.

Alcohol Ink Stenciling Technique:

Step 1: Place Yupo Paper on craft sheet.  Then tape down stencil using painter's tape or masking tape. Make sure your craft area is well ventilated.

Step 2: I chose my 4 Alcohol Inks and opened lids.  I carefully drizzled one color at a time with the tip of bottle touching the paper thru the stencil.  Starting with the lightest ink.  Some of ink will flow under the stencil,  which is ok as long as the colors are in the same color family, so do not turn to mud. I added the green last.

Step 3:  Let Alcohol Ink Dry!  Do NOT remove stencil until inks dry.  It can take a while if you have drizzled a lot of ink.  Be Patient!   Then remove stencil carefully and clean stencil and your hands with rubbing alcohol.  I prefer 91%.  Your stencil will now always look loved.

Step 4:  If your piece is tacky let dry overnight.  Burnish your piece with a paper towel to bring out the shine and to remove a little ink if too dark, thick or still a bit tacky.

Step 5: I stamped my sentiment with Archival Black ink using my MISTI.   I then die cut my stenciled background and popped up using fun foam onto a die cut piece of white Card Stock. Added more fun foam to main image frame and attached to a 5" x 5" card base.  I was very happy with the results!

This sunflower card from August 2016 is still my favorite Alcohol Ink Stenciled card.

If you go to our CAS Mix Up August Challenge you will find several links to videos on Alcohol Ink Techniques, including a video using rubbing alcohol and reinkers by Shari Carroll.  This technique is an alternative to alcohol inks.  Also many fabulous card samples by our very talented Design Team and our Guest Designer, Trina (My Crafting Closet).   You have until August 24th to join the fun.  Happy Alcohol Ink creating my friends. If you have questions feel free to contact me :-)  Hugs...

Another Stenciling with Alcohol Ink Card

I played around a few days ago with Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks and TCW "Joyful Sunflower" Stencil. This is the 2nd card I made using my samples.  Here is my 1st Stenciling with Alcohol Ink card that I posted on August 9th.  I included very detailed step by step instructions on this post so I will not repeat the details on this new card.

I did exactly the same on this sunflower image just angled my sunflower so I could use an angled cut on a finished card.  These colors reminded me of Thanksgiving.  I used an old favorite SU Thanksgiving wood stamp from "Holidays and Wishes" (ret).  I loved how it turned out.

Enjoy and Thank you for Looking and especially commenting.  Hugs...
