CAS Mix Up May Splattering

Splattering has to be one of my all time favorite techniques for adding interest and a bit of dimension to a Clean and Simple design card.   I was thrilled to see our CAS Mix Up May Splattering Challenge!

I used Stamping + Splattering with acrylic paint + Color Burst Watercolouring and Die Cuts

I used the Rubbernecker "Tulips in Vase" stamp,  which is a challenge!  I placed my 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" piece of Arches Hot Press 140# in my MISTI securing with Creative Corners and then placed my stamp.  I painted the vase and leaves with water using a #4 paint brush then sprinkled with Pthalo Green Color Burst powder and stamped my image.  I opened my MISTI and spritzed more water on my stamp and stamped again and helped move the reconstituted powder around with my wet paint brush.  I then did the same procedure again adding water and Sepia Color Burst to my stamp to ground my stamped image.  Moving the wet ink around with my wet paint brush.  Next I stamped the flowers using Alizarin Crimson Color Burst and the same watercolouring procedure.  I used reconstituted Sepia on my craft mat to add more detail to the flowers for dimension.

It is important to let your watercoloured layers dry before adding the next Color Burst color.  I used CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Die to frame my card front.  Next die cut my image with my CUTplorations ATC Tag Builder Die, which gave a nice beveled edge.  I purposely partially die cut one flower to give an over the edge look.   Almost forgot my sentiment.  My MISTI and Creative Corners came to my rescue. I just placed my card front in my MISTI and secured with CC's. Then stamped my 2 STAMPlorations "Birds of Paradise" sentiments with Archival black ink.  Worked great!

Next I splattered my card front after placing my main image into the die cut area of my card front and masked with 3M masking tape.  I used green diluted acrylic paint and a #8 paint brush to make my splatters.  I only made a few splatters to just give a bit of mixed media interest,  but not distract from my watercoloured main image.  Then I popped up my main image with 3M tape for a popped up inlaid design.  I attached my card front to my SU Whisper White Thick card base.  I was very pleased with my CAS Mixed Media card.  Happy May Day my friends!

I hope you get to join the fun at CAS Mix Up Splattering.  You have until May 24th to play along. Be sure and check out the Design Team and our Guest Designer, Elaine's (Craft-E-Place) beautiful cards too.  Hugs..

CAS Watercolour April Green and Pink Challenge Reminder

It is already time for our CAS Watercolour April Green and Pink Challenge Reminder. You still have until April 24th to play along :-)

I played with my new STAMPlorations "Framed Solitary Rose" stamp.  After stamping my image I used watercolour layering with my Gansai Tambi pan watercolors.

I placed a piece of Arches Hot Press 140# watercolor paper in my MISTI securing with my Creative Corners and then stamped my Framed Solitary Rose using Versafine pigment ink.  I heat set before starting my watercolouring using layers of Gansai Tambi pan watercolours making sure each layer was dry before adding more paint with my #4 paint brush.  I left my image in my MISTI until I was finished with my colouring.  I used Dark Pink and Ocean Green colours.  I added a watercolour wash using diluted SU Smoky Slate on my rose background. The last step was misting with shimmery spray made with Tsukineko Frost white paint and water.

Letting my image dry in my MISTI keeps the layer nice and flat.  I removed my main image and trimmed along the stamped black border.   I then die cut a SU Shimmery White paper border layer using my new CUTplorations ATC Tag Builder Die,  which has a cool beveled edge.  Used SU Whisper White paper for my CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Die Cut border.

Next I stamped my Birds of Paradise sentiment in my MISTI using Versafine black ink and then attached each layer.  My Card base is SU Whisper White Thick CS.  My main image was popped up using 3M foam tape.  I love the Clean and Simple design and hope you do too.

Do come and play along with us at CAS Watercolour Green and Pink and be sure and check out all the beauties from our Design Team and Guest Designer, Marcia (marciakdesigns).  Happy Springtime Stamping..Hugs..

CAS Watercolour April Green and Pink

The CAS Watercolour April Green and Pink challenge is perfect for Spring Stamping :-)

I had so much fun using the color combo with my new STAMPlorations Shirley's Bee's Knees "Birds of Paradise" stamp set and Coordinating "Birds of Paradise" Die set.

I chose a Zig Markers Smooshed background from my stash.  I arranged my Birds of Paradise bird stamps on my background using my MISTI and Creative Corners. I then stamped with Versafine Black Ink.  Next I die cut my Birds of Paradise stamped images and SU Word Bubbles Die from the background.  I placed my Word Bubble in my MISTI and stamped the sentiment from the same set.

I LOVE the colorful pink and green splatters on all my images.  I popped up the word bubble and bird on the right with foam tape onto my CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Die Cut card front and adhered my running (trying to fly) bird.  Then added my retired Washi Tape using the green and pink colors to ground my birds.  Added a few sequins for a bit of bling.

I used SU Whisper White Thick (100#) CS for my card base and SU Whisper White CS (80#) for my stitched card front.    I used Loll Thompson's Smooshing with Ink's YouTube tutorial to make my smooshed background. The only difference was I scribbled my Zig markers onto my craft mat and misted with water. Then smooshed my Strathmore mixed media paper.

A really fun card to make using Shirley's really cute stamp set and dies.  I hope you can join our CAS Watercolour Green and Pink Challenge.   You have until April 24th to play along.  There are so many beautiful samples by our very talented Design Team and our very talented CAS Guest Designer, Marcia (marciakdesigns).  Happy Springtime...Hugs

Here is my 2nd card for the challenge.  Stamping + Smooshing + Die Cut and Watercoloring

I recently purged and did a bit of reorganizing in my stamping room and rediscovered these sweet little Art Impressions unmounted rubber stamps: "Flower Pot" and "Flower Set".

I started out by Smooshing my background using an ATC size piece of acrylic sheet (from a stamp set).  I smeared Tim Holtz DI's onto the acrylic sheet..only doing one color and then spritzed with water and smooshed onto the Arches 140# Cold Press paper.  Let dry.  I used Distress Inks: Shabby Shutters and Ice Spruce and also Inka Gold Gold Metallic paint for my smooshing.

I then placed a scrap piece of Cold Press paper in my MISTI holding it down with my Creative Corners and stamped my pot using SU Soft Suede. I then watercolored my image using a #4 paint brush.  Added a small amount of water to my brush and spread the ink from the stamped image around.  Then I restamped again with Soft Suede to enhance the image details.  Removed the pot and fussy cut with my papersnips. Stamped another pot onto 3M wide masking tape and fussy cut for a mask.

I placed my card front in my MISTI securing with Creative Corners and placed the pot mask.  I did not use my MISTI to stamp my leaves and flowers,  but acrylic blocks.  My MISTI and Corners made a nice secure work area.  Then repeat stamped my leaf stamp in Pear Pizzaz and the flower stamp in Rich Razzleberry.  I removed my mask,  shaped the pot with my stylus and attached to my card front with foam tape.  Next I did wet on wet watercoloring using Ice Spruce to ground my pot.

Removed my card front from my MISTI and added Little Things "Decadence" sequins, Stamplorations  Fond Expressions sentiment and Die Cut my card front using Cutplorations "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die".   I am really happy with the results and loved using my new "My Sweet Petunia"  Creative Corners :-)

Splitcoaststampers is Reviewing this wonderful new product on this weeks "Weekly Inkling" and I was pleased to be asked to be one of the reviewers.   I have used my Corners on every card since receiving it last week.  I am hooked!  Be sure and check out the Creative Corners Product Review. You will be impressed.

Happy Stamping my friends and Happy Birthday CAS Mix UP:-)  You have until the 24th to play.

I am adding my card to the CAS Watercolour March "Spring" Challenge
