CAS Mix Up February Felt, Cork or Canvas Challenge

Time for our CAS Mix Up February Challenge hosted by our DT member,
Joanna  (Jo-Jo'sSpot).
Joanna always has the most creative and textured CAS mixed media cards!

Here is her Fun challenge!

Here is my card using Cork + Stamping + Die Cuts and EB Folder.

I started by dry embossing my SU hearts border (ret) onto the Gemund Woodland CS
Card Front. Then added the cork trim from my stash to the bottom of the card front.

Next die cut Woodland CS card front using SU "Sunshine Wishes" heart die.  Used same die to die cut the Cork.

Next I used a scrap of white Woodland CS and sponged with Distress Inks: Festive Berries and Barn Door.  Then Die Cut with same heart die.

I attached card front to SU Thick Whisper White card base, so I could inlay
the red die cut heart and inlay die cut cork heart.

Then die cut the LOVE from same die set and attached.
Stamped sentiment using my MISTI onto back of scrap of Woodland CS,
so the colors would match, attached sentiment and Done!

My 1st Valentine for the holiday:-)  Fun using the cork that I have had forever!
Speaking of forever.. the punched heart was my very 1st Michael's purchase years ago!

  1. Loads of amazing texture on this beauty, Nancy!! Starting with the woodgrain texture of your card front, then adding in the cork and embossed hearts. Really beautiful. Great technique with your inlaid die-cut! xx

  2. Love all the texture you've created and keeping it beautifully CAS. Great mix of the medias and such a cute card x

  3. Love your wonderful clean design with the beautiful embossed background in white - the cork heart and strip and pretty red die cuts! A lovely Valentine! Julia xx

  4. Love the way you inlaid the red and the cork heart die cuts into the woodland cs. The dry embossed hearts and the strip of cork along the bottom really ties it all together. A fabulous card!

  5. So creative with the inlaid cork. That heart is carved in wood, so appropriate right now, and it gives the whole piece a natural effect. Love how you added the embossed hearts and cork strip to the bottom, but the red die cuts really bring everything together. Beautifully done, warm hugs xx

  6. Love the red with your neutral color cork! How beautiful that looks, Nancy! Your layout is so imaginative too. You make me want to check my stash to see if I have any cork left. Always loved that look on a card.

  7. This is one of my favorite heart die cuts, Nancy! It's so pretty cut from the textured card stock and filled with the cork! Love the embossing with the textured background! A lovely Valentine, my friend!

  8. It's amazing, you have so many texture elements but still have CAS card. Love the cork heart so pretty.

  9. This is such a cheerful and charming Valentine card, Nancy! I love the triple hearts - the inlaid cork heat, the die-cut heart, and the punched-out little heart with a rhinestone. I totally agree with Christine that it has all the texture elements and it still looks CAS. I never thought of dry embossing on textured cardstock! It's a fresh idea. Making your own color woodgrain paper by coloring the white one with Distress Inks is a wonderful idea too. Hugs.. Hideko

  10. Hmmm... sounds like a fun challenge! I remember when you got the cork. It looks great with your wood grain card stock and makes a nice, manly Valentine. Love the scribbly heart die, too.

  11. Wonderful use of the cork and so effective! Gorgeous card!

  12. Gorgeous CAS card with so many textured details! Love it, Cathy x
