Heather Telford Winter Wonder Class

I signed up for Heather Telford's Winter Wonder on-line class and finished 2 cards using her Midnight Skies technique from her first lesson.  I LOVED how they turned out and I am sharing my 1st card with CAS Mix Up January Splatters Challenge.

My Midnight Sky (Northern Lights) Christmas Card
using silhouette stamped image, snow splatters, die cut and watercolors.

I was Thrilled with my Midnight Sky using Heather's 1st technique from her 1st lesson. I have never been successful at making night skies until I followed Heather's instructions.  She is an amazing teacher.  I highly recommend Heather's class,  which is still available.

I used Arches Hot Press 100% Cotton Watercolor Paper and Distress Inks: Peacock Feathers, Chipped Sapphire and Black Soot.

Stamped the Penny Black "Dressed in Snow" trees using Archival Jet Black ink and MISTI.  Then splattered snow with acrylic White Posca Pen.

I trimmed my finished image to 3 3/4" square and added CUTplorations Stitched Snow Hills Die for the snow bank.  Stamped Penny Black "Smile all season" sentiment and snowflakes.  Attached snowbank to main image.

I punched out a 1/4" circle for the moon and attached after my Midnight Sky was finished so I would know exactly where I wanted to place my moon.

Popped up Midnight Sky using craft foam and attached to 5 1/2" square SU Whisper White 100# card base and Done!
I LOVED the results.

There was a learning curve...I made 3 backgrounds that I tossed because I was not following Heather's instructions closely enough.  But after my practice pieces my final Midnight skies turned out beautifully:-)

*****************

My 2nd card is not really CAS so I am not sharing on the challenges,  but I am sharing with my Blog friends:-)

I used the same Midnight Sky technique from Heather's online class,  but used different brighter Distress Inks: Chipped Sapphire,  Seedless Preserves, Antique Linen, Scattered Straw and Black Soot.

Used MISTI to stamp the Penny Black "Winter Moment" silhouette image using Archival Jet Black Ink.  Then splattered stars with White Posca pen acrylic paint.

Added STAMPlorations Clear Sticker "Shine Bright" sentiment and 1/4" punched circle for the moon.  Attached to SU Whisper White 100# card base and Done!

I was just as pleased with this Midnight Sky as my 1st card:-)
Heather adds very detailed steps and many card samples for all three of her lessons.
You will see a few more cards in the future using her techniques.
Thank you Heather for sharing your watercolor creativity!

Love and Hugs,

Twofer January 2021 Flowers Challenge

I am so happy to be joining Dolly's January Twofer Challenge😄

Who could resist the "Flower" Challenge...not me!

The Rules

I made my 1st card,  which helped me decide how to design a 2nd card using a different occasion and the same die😀

Here is photo of my Twofer Cards.  I Loved the results!

My 1st card is a Die Cut Valentine for my 91 year old girlfriend!
You can see the SSS heart die at the bottom of the photo.

I chose an Alcohol Inks (reds and pinks) with tissue background from my stash.
Here is the link to a card I made using the Alcohol Ink with Tissue Paper Background, which includes the technique description.  A bit involved,  but if you make several you will have a nice stash for later use😀

I cut an A2 card front (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") out of SU Whisper White 100# CS.
Then I used my new SSS"Heart of Flowers" Die to die cut the image.

Punched out pieces with toothpick.  Then attached alcohol ink background to the back of the die cut heart with scotch tape.

Added STAMPlorations Clear Sticker "Just Everyday Greetings" to a piece of SU 100# cards and attached to card front.  Stamped hearts from STAMPlorations "Big Dreamer" and outlined the hearts with Wink of Stella.
Added SU Rhinestones and Done!  So pretty when the light hits the die cut heart.

My 2nd card using a stencil I die cut out of an acrylic sheet using the Heart Die.
You can see the stencil at bottom of the photo.

I placed the stencil over a SU 100# card front and secured with masking tape.
Then used make up brushes to add the Distress Oxide colors.  I used my brushes without adding more inks.  I wanted a soft look.  It was a fun way to use the ink that is always leftover on the brushes.

Next Removed stencil and placed piece in MISTI.  Stamped STAMPlorations "Brave One" using Versafine black ink and Heat EB with SU Clear EB Powder.

Then die cut image with Spellbinders "Rectangle Hemstitch" Die.
Popped up with craft foam and attached to SU Whisper White 100# card base.

Then attached SU Candy Dots to center of flowers and Done!
Loved the CAS stencil designed card!

So pleased with both cards for different occasions,  using the same die cut and very different designs.  Thank you Dolly for such a fun Twofer Challenge.

Love and Hugs and stay creative and safe!
You still have until the 24th to play along.

CAS Mixed Media Splatters Reminder

Already time for our CAS Mix Up January Splatters Reminder Cards!
Be sure and check out all the awesome samples by our DT.

Thank you Hilary for an awesome Challenge.  I finally feel comfortable using splatters:-)  I used a Posca Black acrylic pen for my splatters!

Used Acrylic Splatters, Heat Embossing, Coloring and Die Cut.
I began by placing Strathmore Mixed Media Tan paper in MISTI then stamped part of the upper poinsettia from the Colorado Craft Company " Big and Bold Slimline Poinsettia" set. with VersaFine Black ink. Then heat embossed with SU Clear EB Powder.

Next die cut with Memory Box Circle Stitched  Dies.  Then colored the flower with a dark green Zig pen and SU Real Red Blender Pen.  Used Kuretake  metallic gold WC paint to color the center of flower.  When dry added Wink of Stella over the entire image.  So Shiny and pretty.

Next splattered the card base with Posca Acrylic Pen using my bone folder to tap the end of the pen to make the splatters.  Worked great!  Added a few larger dots with the pen.

Then placed in MISTI to stamp SU Happiest Birthday Wishes sentiment (ret) with Versafine black ink and heat emboss with clear EB powder.

Attached flower image to craft foam and attached to card base and Done!

Sharing Close Up Photo.  So pretty with all the shine!

I was so pleased with how my card turned out.
We would love to have you join us at CAS Mix Up Splatters Challenge.
You still have until the 24th to play along:-)
Love, Hugs and Stay Safe, my friends.

STAMPlorations Stencil Reminder Challenge: January

We love your projects you have entered and you still have until the end of January to play along.  The Stencil DT Girls have more inspiring projects too!

Clear Sticker Inspiration #1

Two more stencil backgrounds from my stash:-)

I chose the Overlap Stenciled image 1st.  Die cut with the smallest Die from the Crazy Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.

Then the time consuming step:  Finding just the right stencil background from my stash.  I finally found the  Dots All Over Stencil background,  which I happened to make the same day I made  my Overlap stencil background using the same Bisters Powdered Inks.  Bisters are mostly neutral colors and I do love the results.

I used the monoprint technique for both backgrounds.   I  used Yupo paper for the Overlap Stencil layer and Strathmore Mixed Media for the Dots All Over Stencil.

I used Green, Yellow and Red Bisters on both layers. I popped up the top layer with craft foam and then added the Inspiration #1 Clear Sticker and sequins.
Attached layers to kraft cardstock.
I think this would be an inspiring guy card!

We would love to have you play along with us.
Stay Healthy and Creative,  dear friends...Hugs..

CAS Mix Media Challenge: Splatters

Wishing you all a safe and Happy Creative New Year, dear friends.

Our very talented Hilary is hosting the Splatters Challenge.
Elaine (Craft-E-Place) has the honor of being our 1st Guest Designer for 2021!

We are excited to have two new Design Team very talented girls joining our CAS Family too!  Leslie (Running with Scissors) and Coni (Which Craft?)  Welcome girls,  you both will be fitting right into our creative wonderful family😀

We would love to have you join our amazing Design Team and Guest Designers in our First CAS Mixed Media Challenge.  Remember to make your cards Clean and Simple.

Stamping, Splatters and Heat Embossing.
I have been playing with a new to me product, Big Bold "Wishes Snowflake" stamp set from Colorado Craft Company.

I used my EB Buddy on the Strathmore Mixed Media Paper.  Then began by stamping off the edge of the large snowflake with Versamark Ink using MISTI. Heat embossed "Wow" Opaque Bright White Embossing Powder.

Then the fun splattering began using  Posca acrylic white pen.  I used my bone folder to tap the pen to make the splatters.  I used the brush end of the pen to make some of the splatters larger to give a snowy affect.

When dry used i-Crafter Blended Brushes,  which are like finger daubers,  but with a brush end.  They come 10 in a package and I think will last a life time.  So easy to use to sponge the edge of my image using Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink and you do not need to press hard.

Next heat embossed with the "Wow" EB powder the sentiment from the same stamp set and attached to SU cardstock and trimmed.  Then layered onto SU Cherry Cobbler card stock.  Added SU Candy Dot and Done!

Sharing a 2nd not as CAS card using the same Wishes Snowflake stamp.

I used the same techniques and supplies,  but did not trim down the card front.
Loved both cards and the color combo.

We would love to have you join our 1st 2021 CAS Mix Media Splatters Challenge.

Wishing you all a safe and creative New Year.  Love and Hugs..

STAMPlorations Stencil Challenge New Year 2021!

Wishing all our STAMPlorations followers a Healthy Happy Creative 2021!

It is time for our STAMPlorations 1st Stencil Challenge of the year.  We would love to have you join in the creative fun,  dear friends.

You're on my mind:-)

STAMPlorations Trendy Feathers 2 (sentiment)

Had fun using a new to me Watercolor technique for my background.  Yes,  went to my background stash for another quick Stencil card design.

I used Arches Cold Press Watercolor Paper and a 1/4" wide paint brush with Kuretake Gamsai Tampi W/C Paints to make my background using a Dry Brush on wet W/C paint.  I tried Hot Press and Mixed Media paper,  but did not work as well as the Cold Press paper,  which has more texture.

I did one partial swipe and then changed color and continued until I was happy with the background result.  When background was dry I attached only part of the slimline "Wheels" stencil using masking tape.  Then outlined the Wheels with Sakura Pigma Sensei 0.4 mm Black pen.  Added background to my stash.

The 1st thing I did was die cut the background with Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die using the largest die.  Then centered the smallest die from the set and die cut.  Attached A2 die cut background to 100# white CS cardbase.

Then popped up the smaller center die cut image with craft foam and added a stamped with Archival Jet Black ink the Trendy Feathers 2 sentiment
and Done!  Loved how it turned out!

You have until the end of January to play along.  Be sure and use at least one stencil.  you do not have to use a STAMPlorations stencil,  but we love it when you do:-)
