CAS Mix Up Alcohol Inks Be Very Merry!

The CAS Mix UP August Challenge is Alcohol Inks.  So many beauties already by the DT , our GD and in the Gallery!

Here is my "Alcohol Inks on Acetate" Christmas Card!

Alcohol Inks on Acetate with Tissue Paper Background is one of my favorite Alcohol Ink techniques.

Here is the link to my 1st card in my blog using this technique.  I am going to condense the steps in this post.

Step1: cut piece of aluminum foil approximately 8" x11" and lay on craft sheet.

Step 2: drizzle alcohol ink onto foil and spritz with Blending Solution or 90% rubbing alcohol. 

Step 3: pre-cut acrylic sheets..I used 4" x 4" and 6" x 6" squares.  Smoosh onto spritzed alcohol inks until you are happy with results.  You can spritz with solutions more if inks dry too quickly. Lay aside piece to dry with alcohol side UP.   Can add more ink to foil to make more backgrounds.  

Do not throw away foil.  Can be used for another technique that I will share in a future post that I learned from my friend Christine :-)

Step 4: When piece dries use foam brush to Paint ON Alcohol Ink Side the  Gel Medium or Modge Podge  (optional..pinch of Dazzling Diamonds or fine glitter to lightly sprinkle onto wet glue) then scrunch up a pre-cut (6x6 or 8x8) White tissue paper and open tissue leaving the scrunched wrinkles and place over wet glue. Rub with your hands for good contact.  Turn over piece onto clean paper towel and press more with hands.  Carefully add more glue on edges if necessary.  If glue smudges appear on the acrylic side remove using paper towel and 90% rubbing alcohol.

Step 5: Set aside and let glue dry.  Then trim tissue with your scissors.  Check for more glue smudges and remove with alcohol.  Then you can stamp images or sentiments, etc using Stazon ink.  Other permanent inks smear.

I actually made my background for the trees in this card at our Retreat in BC and borrowed the tree dies from Loll.  Thank you again Loll for sharing.  The dies set is on my wishlist!

I finished my card at home using CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Die for the popped up layer frame.  Then scrunched up a piece of tissue and glued to a CUTplorations ATC Tag builder Die.

I glued on my larger tree to the tissue 1st then popped up my small tree.  Added a stamped sentiment and done.  I LOVE how the trees have a shiny stained glass look:-)

I am so pleased with the CAS design and plan to make duplicates using alcohol backgrounds from my stash:-)  You can never make just one background using this technique!  You still have until the 24th to play along in our August CAS Mix Up Challenge.

Loving the CAS Mix Up Tissue Challenge :-)

I have been so inspired by our July CAS Mix Up Tissue Challenge!

Here is my 5th card for the challenge! Using Stamping + Stamped tissue paper + Die Cuts

Plus Close Up of Dazzling Diamond Glitter!

I used the stamping on tissue paper technique on my 5th card.  I stamped my STAMPlorations Trendy Spring Blooms flowers using Distress Oxide Inks onto the white tissue paper.  But then decided to scrunch up the tissue for more texture.  Of course, that covered up the detail of the flowers,  but I still got artsy color spots that sort of looked like flowers.

Next I painted Gel Medium onto my die cut acrylic sheet sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds and trimmed the edges of tissue.  Let dry.  Very sparkly and pretty.

I then die cut my CUTplorations Trendy Spring Bloom Dies using Thick Whisper White CS and attached with fine tip glue pen.  I liked the spots of color behind the die cuts.

I finished my CAS design by adding a  Perfect Plum Cordinations CS frame, die cut frame and strip of Washi Tape.  Then a die cut hello, which had 2 layers.  Finally popping up my angled main image with fun foam.

Christmas in July Tissue Paper

My 4th card for this month's CAS Mix Up Tissue Challenge :-)  But celebrating Christmas this time!

Using Stamping, Alcohol Ink Acrylic Tissue Paper, Die Cuts

Who would guess that tissue paper techniques could be so much fun and creative :-) Not only I am loving the creativity and all my finished cards using my stack of tissue paper backgrounds,  but...our wonderful DT and GD Sue  are too.  And...our Gallery is growing daily!!!

My card was so easy.  I die cut the corner of  my card front using my Tim Holtz Sizzix Mixed Media Christmas Die set.  There are 2 more dies in the set for more future Christmas cards.

Next I placed my Alcohol Ink Acrylic Tissue Paper background from my stash behind the die cut card front.  Then I die cut SU Cucumber Crush CS using the same die again and inlaid the green leaves.  Worked great.

Next I die cut the Merry using a scrap piece of my background and stamped the christmas.  I plan to make more of these cards for Christmas.  I love the CAS design and still have plenty of Christmas colored backgrounds in my stash :-)

I LOVE this tissue paper technique and now have a stack of backgrounds using different Adirondack Alcohol Ink combos.  You will be seeing more cards in the future :-)

Supplies: Craft non stick mat, Acrylic Sheets..Amazon...007 Clear Craft Plastic 12"x12" 25 sheets..$10.00 (or Window Sheets), Aluminum Foil,  Adirondack Alcohol Inks, Blending Solution and 90% Rubbing Alcohol, White Tissue Paper, Golden's Gel Medium, (or Modge Podge), Sponge Brush, scissors, Dazzling Diamonds glitter (optional)

Step 3: pre-cut acrylic sheets..I used 4" x 4" and 6" x 6" squares.  Smoosh onto spritzed alcohol inks until you are happy with results.  You can spritz more if inks dry too quickly. Lay aside piece to dry with alcohol side UP.   Can add more ink to foil to make more backgrounds.  I ended up with 4 large and 9 small backgrounds.

Once you get the hang of the steps the technique is so easy and the results soooo beautiful and interesting.

I stamped my new STAMPlorations "French Marigold" flower using my MISTI and Stazon Black ink. Popped up with fun foam ($ store) and glued to SU Basic Black CS for a thin frame.  Then attached to SU Thick Whisper White CS tent fold card base.

I used my brand new Poppystamps "Scribble Thank You" Die,  cutting it out of SU Basic Black CS.

I wish you could see the pretty glitter from the SU Dazzling Diamonds.   The tissue adds a white glow to the background.  So gorgeous in real life.  I hope you get to try the technique too or any tissue paper technique and join the fun at July CAS Mix Up.  There are so many gorgeous samples by our DT and our Guest Designer, Sue (Sue's Card Craft)...plus the Gallery is growing :-)

CAS Mix Up July Tissue Paper

I am playing along again with the July CAS Mix Up Tissue Paper Challenge.

The DT has discovered there are so many fun techniques using Tissue Paper. I smooshed using Distress Oxides onto  Deli Paper.  Let dry between layers and smooshed again...several times until I got the background I liked.

Here is my finished card using my background.

I did not glue my background onto a piece of cardstock.  I just tucked the sides under and added scotch tape.  I liked the added texture.

I die cut a frame using Shimmery White CS and attached the tissue background then popped up with fun foam.

Next I die cut my "happy" twice for extra thickness and stamped the birthday using Archival Black ink and added a few sequins.  Then I attached my card front to Very Vanilla CS.  The Shimmery White CS looks best with vanilla because it is an off white. I love the subtle shimmer.

That was it...so easy and I loved the texture from the tissue paper and layered Distress Oxide Inks.

I did not use a video for my card technique.  Just did my normal smooshing technique and instead of watercolor paper I used deli paper :-)

CAS Mix Up July Tissue Paper

Time for our CAS Mix Up Stamping + Tissue Paper + Your Choice Challenge.  There are many creative samples by our Design Team and Guest Designer, Sue (Sue's Card Craft) at our CAS Mix Up July Challenge. Be sure and check out the helpful YouTube Videos also. Stamping + Tissue Paper Background + Die Cuts and Metallic Silver Thread

I was inspired by this White Tree Acrylic Painting Video by StudioSilverCreek.  I only used the part on how to create a Tissue Paper Background,  but the entire YouTube video (5:19) is worth watching.

I used a flat paint brush to cover a piece of Mixed Media paper with a thick layer of white Gesso and while Gesso was wet I laid a piece of scrunched white tissue paper over the Gesso using a brayer to securely attach the tissue.  Then let dry completely.

I dropped blue acrylic paint in my palette and spritzed with water.  Took my flat paint brush and brushed the paint quickly over the tissue.  Then wiped off the excess paint with a paper towel.  Let dry and done.  Such a fun inky and quick tissue technique.

My background reminded me of water, so I got out my Memory Box "Big Splash Border" Die.  I kept with my blue and white color combo and love how the texture from the tissue paper shows thru the die cut image.  My Memory Box Stitched Rectangles Dies kept the framing very simple.

I then added Silver Metallic Thread and attached foam tape to pop up the layers.  Next I stamped the sentiment onto the card base.
