I made this card thinking about our year and some of my favorite techniques. I used Layering stencils for my background, but I am not adding to this months CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils Challenge because I did not add a stamped image. But it was fun practicing the technique and making this card.
I used Strathmore mixed media paper for my Layering Stencils technique: ARTplorations Shutters and Bubbles stencils, Tim Holtz Faded Dots stencil and Dina Wakely Leafy Stencil. Started by sponging thru the stencils with Distress Oxide inks: Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, Worn lipstick, Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade and Abandoned Coral. I then added Versamark ink to the entire die cut image and heat embossed with clear EB powder for a very shiny textured look in real life.
Next I die cut the basic black layer with Memory Box Stitched Rectangles to match the main image. Then I die cut CUTplorations Stitched Thankful Die out of SU Basic Black CS and a piece of orange Fun Foam for dimension and to add an orange shadow.
I popped up the main image layer with fun foam and attached the Thankful with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen and attached all to SU Thick Whisper White Card Base.
My card needed more...searched thru my embellishment stash and found these pretty Fall Leaves that I glued onto the background. Now I was Done!
Hope you get to join our CAS Watercolour October Fall Leaves challenge and birthday celebration. You have until the 24th to play along!

Great mix of stencils for your background, Nancy. And I love the large black thankful with the orange shadow and pretty leaves all tucked inside the black frame. Fantastic design, my friend! xx
ReplyDeleteSo stunning with your bright panel framed in the black - as well as the double layering of your sentiment - wonderful layering of stencils and beautiful fall colors Nancy! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteLove these wonderful Fall colors, Nancy! They play beautifully off the black! Great job of layering those stencils!
ReplyDeleteLove how you have done the die cut sentiment. Great stencilling on your fabulous background x Mixed media and so beautifully CAS x
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful fall card, Nancy! Love that background and that wonderful technique! I'm also amazed that you list everything you've used right down to all the ink colors! I usually have a mess when I do this and would be clueless which colors I used (grin). This turned out fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful autumn card and fabulous stencil layering!
ReplyDeleteI do love how you've given this a playful look with the black and orange-highlighted "thankful" die dancing across the front. Those two stencils layered beautifully in the background and the leaves you added lastly are the perfect finish. ps: I'm having a relapse. Stronger meds now. Really getting tired of this thing!
ReplyDeleteSo sorry you are not feeling well again...what a bummer. Take care and thank you for the comment my friend. Hugs

ReplyDeleteA fun and impactful fall card, Nancy! The card reminds me of woodblock printing maybe because of the bold black die cut sentiment and the shape of the stenciled leaves. I love the contrast between the beautifully layered stencil background and the bold sentiment & the frame!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and fabulous creation! As always a brilliant design!
