Time for our CAS Mix Up (WC) Things with Wings Challenge hosted by our
very talented Linda (Life in the Craft Lane) also we have beautiful card designs by
our awesome Design Team.
Be sure and keep your designs CAS and use watercoloring as your main element.
My Stamped and watercolored fussy cut butterfly💕
I began by stenciling the SSS "Tumble Leaves" stencil.
Attached stencil to Strathmore Mixed Media paper with masking tape.
Used make up brushes to lightly blend Distress Oxide Inks:
Salvaged Patina and Tumbled Glass.
Removed Stencil and set aside the stenciled leaves.
Then used MISTI to stamp the Gina K Designs "Friendly Silhouettes" butterfly onto MM
paper. Then stamped and heat embossed the butterfly with Versafine Black ink and
SU Clear EB Powder. Fussy cut the shiny black butterfly.
Then the fun began..I used a #2 paint brush to carefully paint the butterfly with the
same 2 Distress Oxide Inks as the background and set aside.
Next I die cut the background layer with Penny Black "Leaf Stitched Frames".
Stamped and heat embossed just the butterfly antenna.
Shaped the butterfly with bone folder and popped up with mini dimensionals.
Stamped and heat embossed the STAMPlorations "Wonderful Friends' sentiment
and popped up with foam tape.
Attached card front layer to SU Basic White 100# CS and Done!
I was so pleased with the results of the very shiny pretty butterfly
and Clean and Simple Watercolored EB Resist butterfly design.
You have until the 24th to play along in our CAS Mix Up challenge.
We would love to join in the fun:-)
Love and Hugs.

ReplyDeleteYou should be pleased, the result is gorgeous. I love it, those colours look fabulous with the black embossing xx
ReplyDeleteI love this shiny black butterfly with the gorgeous blues, Nancy! He's a beautiful contrast to the pretty stenciled leaves! Lovely card, my friend!
ReplyDeleteNancy, you have to know how beautiful this is to me - maybe ours will sit still for you? By the way, when our Monarchs take their very first flight [hours after eclosion] they fly right over to our River Birch to hang out for a few more hours before saying goodbye! This beautiful card speaks to me in many ways! Besides being drop-dead gorgeous!
ReplyDelete=]
I loved this card too, but wish you could see all the beautiful shine on the heat embossed butterfly. Watercoloring with #2 paint brush took time, but sure was worth it:-) TFS your sweet comment, mf. Hugs...We have lots of butterflies in our flower beds too, but a bit early yet.
DeleteSo pretty, Nancy. Beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteYour shiny butterfly is so beautiful and love your colors on this. You blend your Oxides so beautifully! Great card, Nancy

ReplyDeleteYour gorgeous butterfly is so dramatic in those colors, Nancy.
ReplyDeleteThe colours are so pretty together, Nancy. Love that you've used the same colours from the background to add to your shiny black butterfly. Intensifying the colours makes them stand out even more against the pretty leaf stenciling. Lovely card, my friend. xx
ReplyDeleteI feel lucky to have seen this beautiful thing in person. Favorite colors, a stencil I've always loved in the extreme, and that pretty coordinated butterfly. Gorgeous! I do hope to play along this month. Thanks, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteTwo and a half hours of sharing cards in real life and non-stop chatting and laughing...fun, fun, fun. Love and Hugs dear forever friend:-)
DeleteI love this card, Nancy! The design is wonderful, the color palette is beautiful, and the shine of the heat-embossing must be prettier IRL! Great job of fussy-cutting the butterfly and watercoloring each section of the wings! The matching sentiment strip is a really nice touch. Hugs.. Hideko
