CAS Mix Up April Reminder

Time for our CAS Mix Up Reminder Card Samples from our DT and very talented
Guest Designer, Hideko (Papercraft Boutique)

Here is my Rubber Band Technique + Stamping + Die Cuts Card.

I found an unused card front layer that I had watercolored with Distress Inks
onto Strathmore Mixed Media Paper in my stash.

I had used the inking direct to acetate block technique.  I used TH Distress Inks: Barn Door, Peacock Feathers and Broken China and then spritzed with water
and stamped onto my mixed media paper.
Then used my aqua painter to help spread the ink around.

Next I masked my piece and added narrow rubber bands to my brayer,
then rolled my brayer over my Versamark pad and heat embossed
with Wow Bright White EB Powder.

Next I die cut the piece using my PB "Antique Frame" die.
Then die cut 2 MB "Sketch Daisy Dies" using SU Black CS and attached together
with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen for a thicker flower.

Attached flower over heat embossed Rubber Band background with Tombow
liquid glue.  It is a stronger glue and worked great.

To my surprise,  I stamped my SSS "Bouquet of Thanks" sentiment
with Archival Jet Black ink several times using MISTI
and it worked over the heat embossed background:-)

Popped up my main image with Fun Foam to SU Thick Whisper White card base and Done!

I really liked the results and was happy to use a background from my stash:-)
I am really liking the Rubber Band Techniques for a different and easy CAS background design.
Thanks so much Julia for choosing this technique. You have until the 24th to play along!

  1. Such an artsy and unique card. Love the fun technique and the glorious colours. Good to know that the archival black ink stamped so well over the heat embossing. The pop of black and that die cut frame look fabulous too on your eye catching and wonderful card x

  2. Love the mix of colours of your watercoloured acrylic block background, Nancy. Looks awesome with the rubber band embossing over top. Great design with adding the black silhouette die-cut flower and black stamped sentiment. Never thought it possible to stamp over embossing ... that's great! xx

  3. Nancy, besides your gorgeous colors I just love seeing your eclectic style! You always have such great ideas in design! Fun card- and so cheerful too!

  4. This is a very interesting and fun card, Nancy! The bright white heat-embossed rubber band lines look even brighter against the watercolored background with the distress inks. I love the contrast between the loose acrylic block watercloring and the bold lines (white rubber band lines and black flower outline). Hideko xx

  5. The bright white rubberband stamping and embossing shows beautifully on the rich colors, Nancy! Love the sketched daisy on it!

  6. A great colorful mix on your background Nancy - and the white rubber band embossed lines really pop of it! Love the black sentiment and delicate stem over it all! Julia xx

  7. Nancy, what a fun mix of colours for your background, the rubber band technique looks amazing behind that stunning black outline flower.

  8. Wow such a beautiful mix of colours against the heat embossed rubber bands. The black single flower along with the black sentiment are the perfect compliment. Loving it xx

  9. Lovely, lovely card Nancy!! Absolutely LOVE the beautiful colors you used and the rubber band embossing over the top is so striking! And of course your simple little black flower die cut is the perfect topping for your background!! Truly a beautiful card!! :0)

  10. Super card, Nancy! The bright mix of colours are so fun. Two wonderful techniques acrylic block stamping and rubber band. Great finish with the black die cuts. xx

  11. Fun to take a spare background, dress it up, and make it even better. Love that Sketch Daisy. Cute!

  12. Such a fun and funky card, Nancy! Great colours and great use of the rubber band technique.
