I am hosting our CAS Mix Up August Challenge with so many Gorgeous samples by our DT and GD, Trina.
Here is my 2nd card for the challenge.
Using Stamping + Alcohol Ink background + Die Cut
Sample of Alcohol Inks dropped onto Yupo Paper before adding to my card background.
I used Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks: Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange, Citrus, Watermelon, Wild Plum, Mermaid. The green made some of the colors a little muddy (brown), but I just used the favorite parts of my background. If you stick with all monochromatic colors there is no mud.
I did spritz the piece I used very lightly with blending solution for the water marks.
I die cut the SU Thick Whisper White frame using my Poppystamps "Floral Stem Collage". I then die cut my Alcohol Ink background with the same die. I love this die. Thank you again Bonnie for the samples you sent me that "made" me order this gorgeous die! I pieced (like a puzzle) the frame and background together and attached with fine tip glue pen. Then attached to my card base.
I added my stamped STAMPlorations sentiment and done. A quick and easy, but I think stunning card letting the Die Cut and Alcohol Ink background be the stars:-)
Enjoy and hope you get to join the fun at our CAS Mix Up August Alcohol Ink Challenge. You still have until the 24th to play along. Hugs..
I am adding to STAMPlorations Anything Goes
Supplies:
Stamps: STAMPlorations Dee's Blooming Buds sentiment
Paper: SU Thick Whisper White. Yupo Paper
Inks: Tim Holtz Alcohol inks listed in description
Accessories: Blending Solutions, Poppystamps Floral Stem Collage, SU Fine Tip Glue Pen. popped up 2nd bloom with a dimensional adding a tiny piece of the AI background for the center.

ReplyDeleteNancy, your background looks amazing and I love that beautiful die! Gorgeous card x
ReplyDeleteOh it's gorgeous! I don't own any alcohol inks but you are making me rethink that! Stunning creation Nancy!
ReplyDeleteHi Ros, there is a video on our CMU site that uses reinkers and rubbing alcohol or you can use alcohol based markers (Copics, etc). The faux alcohol method is not as dramatic, but you do get pretty backgrounds. I tried with SU reinkers and 91% alcohol. I used monochromatic colors on Yupo, but you could try with glossy or photo paper. I can strongly recommend alcohol inks. There are so many different techniques with different beautiful results. Hugs.
DeleteI love this colorful and cheerful card, Nancy! The AIs background is gorgeous, and it looks like stained glass. The white frame with a flower is perfect - it makes the colors pop. I'm ready to try AIs, but still waiting for my order to be delivered! :-) Hideko
ReplyDeleteWhile you are waiting..check out some of the videos on our CAS Mix Up challenge. Be prepared...It is addicting. Also work in a well ventilated area and gloves are a good idea. I can't wait to see what you create. Hugs
DeleteNancy now I WANT that flower die!!! How spectacular is that single darling bloom?! Your card is fantastic!! I've tried the alcohol inks several times... seems I'd better get them out again!!! so gorgeous...
