Time for our March CAS Stencil Challenge: Heat Embossing hosted by Viv
Be sure and check out the DT girls wonderful card samples and our very talented
Guest Designer, Cat's (Cat Luvs Paper) card.
Here is my card using a new to me Bokeh stencil set:-)
My 1st step I used a make up brush to add Salty Ocean Distress Oxide ink
to the Strathmore Mixed Media paper.
Then I had fun using my new Newton's Nook Bokeh Stencil set, which has 2 stencils for
layering off set Bokeh circles. I stenciled the heat embossed white circles 1st
using Versamagic Cloud White Pigment ink and then heat embossed with Clear EB powder.
Next I placed the 2nd stencil over the background and used a make up brush to add
Peacock Feathers DOX ink. I wiped off the DOX with a paper towel
from the heat embossed circles,
which made the DOX circles look as if they were behind the white circles...cool!
I die cut my Bokeh background with Reverse Confetti "Frame Confetti Cuts" to
frame and bring the design together.
The Bokeh design has a real nice shine with the heat embossing,
so I thought the STAMPlorations Clear Sticker from the "New Day" set was perfect.
Enjoy and hope you join us for this fun challenge. You have until the 24th to play along!

DeleteGreat job on this technique. I have embossed through a stencil but did not find it easy to do. Love the effect of the white ink on this. Beautifully framed too!
ReplyDeleteNancy, this is such a pretty bokeh piece. So ethereal and uplifting. The die cutting of the edge almost mimics the circles of the bokeh.
ReplyDeleteGreat technique using the double stenciling - love the way the white circles come out on top even though they were done first!

ReplyDeleteI love how you did this technique by adding the color then wiping it off. It really looks terrific. I want to check out that Versamagic Cloud White Pigment ink. I haven't seen it in the stores and I like the effect of it.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Nancy! I love your Bokeh background, especially the way the heat-embossed white circle and the peacock feather circle overlapped. Putting a clear sticker sentiment on a strip is a great idea. Thank you for showing us another way of using clear stickers! Hugs.. Hideko
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Bokeh effect and the frame is so pretty... Great job Nancy!
