I am always bummed if I miss this really fun challenge, but got home from
our 3 week camping/hiking trip just in time:-)
My Harvest Cards
I made these stencil monoprint backgrounds while on vacation.
Just added the die cutting when I got home.
Card #1
This is my DH Denny's card celebrating our 53rd Anniversary on the 29th!
I loved the monochromatic earth tone colors.
Very simple technique.
Placed Sanna ARTplorations Barley Stencil over mixed media paper.
Then stamped Distress Ink, Walnut Stain over stencil and spritzed with water.
Next removed stencil and turned over onto another piece of mixed media and pressed
down with a paper towel, which gave me the negative monoprint.
I will save the positive 1st print for a future project.
Die Cut the piece with MB Stitched Rectangle.
Die cut Early Espresso CS with same die.
Die Cut Crumb Cake CS with CUTplorations Double Running Stitch Rectangle
Nesting Dies and attached to Crumb Cake card base.
Added Sentiment on the smallest MB Stitched Rectangle
and sponged with Walnut Stain DI.
I popped up the main image and sentiment tag and Done!
Card #2
Again, backgrounds I designed on our vacation.
I had taken several pre-die cut tags with me.
I love this set of 6 tag dies. My tag was the 3rd largest tag.
Again, used the same stencil as my 1st card and the stencil monoprint technique.
I used Distress Inks, Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Ripe Persimmon
for the negative background image.
Then used the same colors, but with more of the bright colors for the smooshed
background on my tag.
Placed a small section of the ARTplorations Sanna Barley stencil over tag
background and sponged on DI Walnut stain for get the positive Barley image.
When home I die cut the background negative monoprint with the CUTplorations
Die. Stamped, heat embossed and fussy cut the sentiment and popped up.
Added Seam Binding and layers to SU Thick Whisper White CS.
Hope you like my cards. I was very pleased with how different they turned out
and I always love how I get Twofer cards when done!

ReplyDeleteSo glad you got home in time to join us at Twofer, Nancy! Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary, and what a fantastic card for your husband! ReplyDeleteNice that you had these beautiful monoprints all made up and ready to go. These are surely some of my favorites ever, Nancy! I love the colors, stencil, card designs. Wow! Happy anniversary to you and Denny! Hard to believe such youngsters could be celebrating 53 years of marriage!
ReplyDeleteWe would agree...the time has flown by with so many awesome memories. Thank you Leslie for your sweet comment. I am loving Sanna's 14 new stencils...no I do not have them all...yet! Hugs, Nancy
DeleteLove that barley stencil, Nancy! It makes a gorgeous monoprint! The neutral colors are perfect for Denny. A very masculine card! And I love the bright colors of the second card! The more muted background makes the pink of the tag really pop! Two great cards, my friend!
ReplyDeleteTerrific twofers, Nancy! You were productive on your vacation. How nice to have your stencil monoprints all ready to go. Wonderful colour palettes on both and finished perfectly. xx
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards! Love how you used the stencils here! I don't want to cause you palpitations, but the last time I asked, stencils were not allowed for this challenge....only dies and stamps....but perhaps they don't notice that and you get by with it ;)
ReplyDeleteOMG, Cornelia..I just read the badge...looks like you are right. No one on the team said a word. I was so excited to get my cards made with a harvest theme, I forgot to read the rules. Oh well, I still love both cards:-) Thanks for the heads up, my friend. Hugs..
DeleteYou are the stencil master lady. These cards pack a punch. They are equally beautiful and so unique. The monochromatic one is truly special, made him happy I bet. Love them both xx
