CAS Mix Up Reminder....Already!

There are fabulous cards by our talented DT and Guest Designer Cathy (Cathy's Card Spot)

You have until the 24th to play along.
Be sure and check out the cards by our designers and the helpful videos.

I made a positive and negative image using Lindy's Magicals Mica Powders.
So shiny and beautiful in real life.  I Tried to get photos of the shine.
No luck,  but I am sure you understand.

The Positive Stencil Image Card!

The Negative Stencil Monoprint Image Card

I was spending a bit of free evening time at our May retreat, playing with stencils.
I have a tab under my banner above with photos of retreat:-)

I borrowed Christine's TCW retired stencil and quickly made these Stencil
Monoprint backgrounds using  Lindy's Magicals Mica Powders.
Sorry I do not know the names of the colors,  since we were using Loll's Magicals.

I was inspired by this Color Burst and Stencils Video by Shelby Thomas 6:10.
I placed my stencil over Strathmore Mixed Media and sprinkled
with Magicals powders and spritzed with water using TH Spritzer.

Removed stencil and lightly rolled paper towel roll over image to blot off
a small amount of excess inks.  Set aside positive (1st card) image to dry.

Next spritzed water on the stencil,  which still had leftover Magicals
and turned over carefully, placing over mixed media paper.
Then pressed down with hands to soak up Magicals.
I did not blot this time.  I really liked the negative monoprint results.
Let both backgrounds Air Dry!

Today I made each background into finished cards.

Die cut both backgrounds with CUTplorations Crazy Double Running
Stitch Rectangles Nesting Die.

Attached to cardbase and added CUTplorations "Birthday" Word Die
and stamped "happy" from STAMPlorations "Happy Birthday".

Stacked both die cut "Birthdays" attaching with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen
and attached to card fronts using glue pen again.

Wonderful to get 2 backgrounds and 2 finished cards out of the technique:-)

Do come and play along and if you already have...Thank You!

Hugs...

  5. Wow, both positive and negative prints are gorgeous with the Magicals, Nancy! Love the mix of all those beautiful colors. I love the positive results (more falll-ish) as much as the negative ones (more summer-ish). Great color choice for the die-cut sentiments for each card, and stamping "happy" on a strip is a great way to separate the sentiment from the colorful print. Thank you for hosting another fun challenge this month, my friend! Hideko xx
