STAMPlorations November Mixed Media Challenge

Here is my STAMPlorations November Mixed Media Tag using my new ARTplorations Holly Background Stencil.

STAMPlorations Mixed Media Challenge

Here is a Close Up showing the Glitter :-)

My tag is also for  TIME OUT CHALLENGE #71...

Challenge #71 Christmas with an Optional Twist of Glitter/Shimmer

Also STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge

This was a really fun tag to make using my new ARTplorations "holly background mini" stencil.  I traced around the luggage tag shape of the mini stencil onto SU Whisper White Thick CS and fussy cut.

I then placed my stencil over the tag and colored with my SU markers: Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive and Cherry Cobbler.  I used clear Wink of Stella thru the stencil for a pretty shimmer.  I added Candy Cane Stickles to the berries for more sparkle.

I die cut SU Christmas Greetings "Peace",  two times with SU WW Thick and once with Cherry Cobbler CS for more dimension.  Then painted the die cut Peace with Wink of  Stella and used SU Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach to the tag.

Final touch..wet SU Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding...scrunched and when dry added to my tag after adding a fussy cut Cherry Cobbler layer to back of tag.  This will be a special tag for a plate of KrumKake cookies for a special friend.  Enjoy....tag, not cookies..sorry!

BTW,  I love the new ARTplorations mini stencils.  The designs are the same,  but smaller than the regular size stencils.

Happy Holidays my friends and thank you for visiting and especially commenting. Hugs..

Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas 2016 Be Joyful

My tag is a Wintery Scene using my new Tim Holtz Woodland Trees Die.

Here is a Close Up of all the snowy sparkle...

Here are my design steps for a really fun tag.

#8 Tim Holtz manila tag.

Two layers of Golden's Gesso..dried in between layers.

Layer of Golden's Heavy Gel. Then layered SU ret. DSP that has all the large snowflakes.

Stamped and 2nd generation stamped SU "Lovely as a Tree" fir tree in Archival Jet Black Ink.

SU Be Joyful sentiment from " Merriest Wishes" Stamped and Heat EB with Versamark and SU Cherry Cobbler EB powder.

Sponged the edges with Versamark  and Heat EB with SU White EB powder.

Added layer of SU Cherry Cobbled CS for a thin frame.

Splattered entire tag with diluted white acrylic paint using a #6 paint brush.

Added SU Dazzling Details to snowflakes on the DSP and splatters.

Painted white acrylic paint on the bottom for snow banks and added Dazzling Details.

Die Cut piece of smooshed Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks (lettuce, juniper and pesto) background for my Tim Holtz Woodland Trees Die.  Attached 2 more Whisper White CS Die Cut Trees  to pop up die cut tree.  The 2nd layer is off set to look like snow. Then added glue to die cut tree with SU Fine Tip Pen and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds.

Added crinkled SU Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding bow and One Memory Box Die Cut "Resting Bird."

Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas 2016 Linky is still open until the end of of the day on November 25th,  so I am just getting under the wire for my 4th tag.  I hope you get to play too.  Loll and her Guest Designers ( I was her GD  on her Day 3 posting) have fabulous samples and the Gallery is filled with more gorgeous tag samples.  I guarantee you will be Inspired to make Christmas Tags :-)

Thank you again Loll for hosting your wonderful annual event!  So Fun and Inspiring my friend.  Happy Holidays....

STAMPlorations Blog Hop.

It is time for STAMPlorations Giving Thanks Blog Hop.

This is the time of year for blog hops, tag events and more....so much inspiration by so many :-)

I just received my STAMPlorations "Be Thankful" Bundle that includes a Be Thankful stamp set, CUTplorations  Stitched Thankful Die and Basket of Apples, plus a Fall Floral Trio stencil !

Here is my card using a stamp, a die and the stencil all from the new STAMPlorations "Be Thankful Bundle"  :-)

I had so much fun with this card.  I started by making 2 backgrounds with Alcohol Ink on Yupo paper.  I taped my Fall Floral Trio stencil over Yupo paper.  Dripped  3 AI colors: Watermelon, Sunshine Yellow and Sunset Orange thru the stencil.  Carefully removed the stencil and turned it over onto another piece of Yupo for a Monoprint image,  which is what I used for my soft colored panels.

I die cut the "Thankful" with the front main stenciled image,  which was very bright.  I also punched the hearts from that piece.

I die cut 2 more layers of the Thankful out of SU Whisper White CS to pop it up. Because I messed up the center of my monoprint image that I had die cut with CUTplorations "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle" largest die ,  I just cut out the center and added the piece to my die cut white card front.

Added a heat embossed sentiment from the stamp set and attached all the pieces using SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.

Hope you get to play along too.  So many amazing samples to inspire you in the blog hop. You have until November 30th to link up your Thankful projects.  Lots of prizes and fun ! Thank you Shery for another awesome blog hop.  Hugs and Happy Thanksgiving to you and your DT girls.

Card Recipe:

Alcohol Ink Bold Florals Hugs

I was playing with my Alcohol Inks using Loll Thompson's Alcohol Inks Smooshing Technique. Here is Loll's U-Tube Alcohol Inks with Yupo Paper Tutorial.  I followed her smooshing on foil technique exactly.

After letting my AI background dry completely,  I traced my tag using ARTplorations Mini Bold Florals Stencil and my Staedler permanent ink marker and then fussy cut my tag using my papersnips.

I then laid my ARTplorations stencil over my piece of fussy cut tag.   By the way,  I used Tim Holtz Ranger Alcohol Inks: Sunshine Yellow, Sunset Orange and Watermelon for my smooshed background.

I traced the Bold Flowers through my stencil with my Staedler Permanent Ink Pen.  Die cut "hugs" from a scrap piece of the AI Yupo background and die cut 2 more times using basic black cardstock to pop up the sentiment.  I attached each layer with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen and attached to tag.  Added SSS Moonshine sequins and SU seam binding and dimensionals to pop up tag on the cardstock.

The card is a 4 1/4" x 6" tent fold design to fit the large tag.

I will definittely be making more backgrounds with Loll's technique.  I did spritz the AI with 91% alcohol to reconstitute the ink so I could get a 2nd lighter piece that I will use on a future card.

Enjoy and Happy Stamping...Hugs

Bokeh Merry Christmas

I have been wanting to make a Bokeh card for ages.  I am still needing Christmas cards for this years stash.  I was so pleased how my Bokeh Christmas card turned out.  I think you will be seeing more cards with this technique soon :-)

I love the floating effect of the circles.  I sponged my SU Shimmery White CS with SU inks: Rose Red, Raspberry Ripple (ret) and Cherry Cobbler using a craft sponge.

My DH Denny was about to recycle a piece of heavy window sheet packing recently,  but understood when I said I wanted it for stamping. lol!  I punched 4 sizes of circles 2-3 times on the window sheet and now will have this stencil forever.  I placed my circles stencil over my sponged background and used a sponge dauber to sponge SU Whisper White craft ink over each circle.  If you go back over some of the circles you get the effect of some circles looking as if they are under other circles.  Cool effect.

I die cut my SU Expressions Die (Merry) twice on Whisper White thick CS and attached with my SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.

I  then placed my background in my MISTI  positioning my die cut Merry so I would know where to stamp my HLS "Mixed Christmas Sentiment",  then inked my stamp with Archival Jet Black ink.  Earlier I die cut my SU Expressions Die (Merry) twice on Whisper White thick CS and attached the layers with my SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.  I used my pen to attach my sequins (from Jo-Ann's) also.

I also added tiny green crystals (a gift) and a black layer to make my bokeh layer pop.  Enjoy and Happy Holidays stamping my friends.  Hugs......

I used this very helpful Bokeh by Brenda Keenan (6:32) video.

Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas 2016 Day 11

My tag for Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas Day 11.   This I think is my favorite..maybe because it took the longest and was so much fun!

This is a close up showing the Heat Embossed background and the Heat Embossed die cut trees.  The shine is incredibly beautiful :-)

My first step...I created my die cut trees by using a piece of Arches Hot Press paper that I had watercolored with Brushos and Color Burst powders.  I had spritzed water on the paper and sprinkled on the powders tipping the paper to move the watercolors.  When dry I stamped a tree image from a retired SU set several times using my MISTI.  I then die cut with my new Tim Holtz "Treeline" Die.

I then started my tag by using a #8 Tim Holtz manila tag and covered with 3 layers of Gesso to get a nice textured white background.  That is when all my drying time really started!  Next I splattered with liquid masking fluid that took forever to dry.   The next day I brayered 3 Distress Inks going light to dark and sponged the edges with the darkest DI.   I rubbed off the masking fluid to uncover the snow splatters.

I was really happy with my tag background and die cut trees,  but thought they needed more....so that is when I covered each piece with SU Illuminate Pigment Ink (ret) for more shimmer and Heat Embossed with SU Clear EB powder.  I did the same for the stamped sentiments.  I attached the trees with my thin tip glue pen and sentiments with dimensions. and added black CS and ribbons for the finishing touches.

I LOVED the results and hope you do too.  You know how it is...so much prettier IRL....

I hope you get to play in Loll's amazing 12 Tags of Christmas Event this year.  So many gorgeous tags by Loll and her GD friends and the incredible Gallery :-)  You will be Inspired! Hugs..

CAS Watercolour Card November Reminder...Text!

It is time for the CAS Watercolour Card Challenge Reminder Cards from the Design Team.  You will be thrilled with all the inspiration...I know I was...!

Lately I have been practicing my watercolouring techniques with several new Penny Black slapstick/Cling stamps that are perfect for watercolouring using the Brushstroke Stamping Technique.  A MISTI is a must have with this technique.  I have watched (several times) the Brushstroke Stamping Technique Video sponsored by Penny Black and done by Jill Foster, which is 11:17 minutes and well worth every minute..

I used a 4" x 5 1/4" Fluid 100 Hot Press watercolor paper and placed it in my MISTI.  I then placed my PB "Perfect Pear" on my paper,  closed my MISTI to have an exact placement for repeat stamping of my pear.

I used SU markers to color my pear image stamp.  Then spritzed with water and stamped onto my paper.  I used a #4 paint brush to move the wet ink around on the image.  I then stamped the pear again with the remaining wet ink on the stamp.  Again moving the ink with the paint brush.

When completely dry I masked the pear image with the pear that I had stamped on copy paper and fussy cut.  I then inked my SU French Script in Crumb Cake and stamped for my text background.  Then removed my mask.

I added splatters with diluted Soft Suede using my paint brush.  Die cut my piece with my CUTplorations  "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting medium Die.  My last step..adding my sentiment that I heat embossed with Early Espresso eb powder and sponged with Crumb Cake.

I am really pleased with the results of my loose flowing image.

Thank you for visiting..you have until November 24th to join our CAS Watercolour Text Challenge.  I sure hope you can join the fun :-)

CAS Mixed Media November Reminder Card

I used MISTI Stamping + Masking + my choice of watercolor wash and splatters for the CAS Mixed Media November Reminder Challenge.

All the DT, Guest Designer and Gallery this month have absolutely Stunning Samples of masked techniques for many occasions for your Inspiration!  You still have until November 24th to play along.

I used SU Shimmery White Cardstock for my main image.  I love the subtle shimmer and it works well for watercoloring if you do not add too much water.

I placed my 4" x 5 1/4" piece of CS in my MISTI then Masked the edges at 1/2" all around using my 3M Masking Tape,  which is 2" wide, never tears paper and can be reused many times :-)

Then I placed my PB "The Unfolded" stamp and closed my MISTI.   I opened my MISTI and inked the stamp with Tim Holtz Festive Berries Distress Ink ink pad and closed MISTI.   I stamped one more time for darker coverage and then let my image air dry completely.

I scribbled Memento London Fog ink onto my craft mat and spritzed with water to get a soft diluted grey for my background watercolor wash using a #4 paint brush.  Let dry.  Covered flower image with a mask and splattered the background with diluted black acrylic ink.  Let dry.

Removed tape...and loved the results. I even liked how some of the wash went under the mask a bit.   I added more shimmer to the flowers with Wink of Stella and stamped and popped up my sentiment.

Enjoy and Happy Masking Stamping my friends.  Hugs...

Loll's 2016 Twelve Tags of Christmas Event

Loll is Hosting her 3rd Annual "Twelve Tags of Christmas with Loll and Friends".

I was thrilled to be asked tobe the Guest Designers on November 9th... Day 3 of Loll's event! I do love making tags during the holidays and Loll's event is a fun way to catch up on my tags that I use for my Norwegian Krumkake cookie trays.

This is also my 1st time to share my tags with you as a new Blogger :-)  Enjoy and hope you get to play along too.

My Be Joyful Perfect Pear Tag......

I had so much fun making this tag using the Penny Black slapstick cling stamp: "Perfect Pears".  I used the brushstroke stamping technique.  Here is the video I watched that was very helpful..Brushstroke Stamping with MISTI by Penny Black.

I used Zig markers for my pear image and SU inks for my stamped background, sentiment and sponged edges.  I masked my pear to stamp my background with my SU Sanded and French Script background stamps (ret).  I love how it gave more depth to my pear.

I used my new STAMPlorations Mini stencil to trace and cut out my tag.   STAMPlorations has a new CUTplorations "Luggage Tag" set with 3 different sized of tags.  This is the largest size tag.. 3 3/8" x 5 1/2", which I traced from my Mini Stencil and fussy cut out.  I have the tag dies on my wishlist..love the shape.

I finished my tag with splatters using diluted Soft Suede ink and a paint brush.  Also added a few more splatters dipping the tip of my stylus in the ink.  A trick I learned from Jennifer McGuire.

Loll's event runs from November 7-18, but you can add your tag to her link until November 25th.   I hope you get to play along too.  You will be so inspired by all of Loll's tags, her very talented Guest Designers and the growing Gallery :-)

Happy Tag Making...Hugs,

Loll's 12 Tags of Christmas 2016..Season's Greetings

Today is Loll's Day One of her "Twelve Tags of Christmas with Loll and Friends" Event! This is Loll's 3rd Annual Event and is such a fun and inspiring way to get your Christmas Tags made up a head of the Christmas Rush.

Lots of layers on this tag...I started with a Tim Holtz  3" x 6 1/4" Manila tag.  Painting on 2 thick coats of Gesso, drying between coats.  Then using a ruler and pencil to draw a 1 1/2" x 3" rectangle.   Next I stamped my fir tree with Versamark and Heat Embossed with Vintage Verdigris EB powder.

I used Wet on Wet watercoloring with a #8 paint brush to add several layers of Distress Inks: Tea Dye, Walnut Stain and Black Soot.  When dry I used the same technique to add Distress Inks to my rectangle.

Next I masked my rectangle and stamped the snowflakes, sponged the edges of tag with Black Soot, added the Chevron ribbon, linen thread, wood snowflake and sentiments.

How long did this take...oh a couple of days as layers dried and I needed time to think about the next step.  I had plenty of other things to do between the steps,  so I did not mind!

The very last step....hurray!  Snow flake splatters with diluted white acrylic paint using a paint brush.

Jill Foster's One Layer Stamping and Painting Video for Penny Black was very helpful for my watercoloring technique.

Enjoy and hope you get to play along with Loll and Friends Tag Event.  You have until November 25th to join the fun with your tags.  Hugs.....

CAS Watercolour November Challenge: Text

I am so excited to announce that I am on Loll and Bonnie's new CAS Watercolour Card Challenge  Design Team along with the other new Design Team Members...Susan, Karen and Harriet. Congratulations girls.  We are going to have so much fun playing together :-)

Be sure and visit the CAS Watercolour Card November Challenge link  to check out all the team members beautiful and creative "Text" cards and visit their blogs to leave them some love:-)

The challenge for November is Clean and Simple Watercolouring and "Text" (other than a sentiment).

I knew I wanted to color with my Zig markers one of the flower images from the STAMPlorations "Color Blooms" coloring book because many of the pages already have "Text" among the flowers.  After coloring the images I trimmed my piece to 3" x 3",  splattered with black diluted acrylic paint and drew a faux sewing frame.  The magic really happened after I attached my piece to a scrap of mixed media paper and covered the piece with Versamark Ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

I LOVE how it brightened the flowers and added shine to the entire main image.

I finished my card by using my MISTI to stamp my sentiment to a die cut card front of SU Whisper White Thick CS.  Then I Popped up my image using foam tape.  Added rhinestones for a bit of bling and Done!

My card is also for STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge.

The new CAS Watercolour November Challenge ends on November 24th so you have plenty of time to play along.  I can't wait to see your beautiful CAS Watercolour Text creations.  Happy Stamping,..

CAS Mix Up November Challenge: Masking

Already time for the CAS Mix Up November Challenge: Masking.  We also have 2 new Design Team Members on CAS Mix Up :-)  Loll and Bonnie had the difficult job of choosing only 2 new members from the list of talented stampers from the Design Team Call last month.

Our new DT members are the very talented Julia from Create with Julia and Joanna from Jo-Jo's Spot.  Be sure and go to the CAS Mix Up November Challenge to see their gorgeous masking cards and visit their blogs to leave them some love :-)  We also have Linda S. from Lin's Craft Corner as our Guest Designer for November.  Linda also has a beautiful masked card.

I used Stamping + Masking + my choice of Stenciling with Brushos and Die Cut Leaves

I just received a Dina Wakely Ranger Stencil: "Leafy" from Loll and just had to use it... right now!  I tried a new (to me) masking technique using  the smallest CUTplorations "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die".  I cut a 4" x 5 1/4" layer from my Arches 140# Cold Press watercolor paper.

I placed my stencil on my paper, then the die,  using 3M masking tape to mask my 2 1/4" x 3 1/2" stencil image.  I then sprinkled orange, yellow and purple Brushos Powder over the stencil and spritzed with plenty of water.  I carefully removed the masking tape, die and stencil all in one piece.

I LOVED the clean edges I got for my stenciled image.  I let the piece air dry.  I then added my die cut leaves using pop dots.  I stamped my sentiment 3 times using my MISTI to get good coverage.

I added the sequins and ribbon for just a little bit of embellishment.  I am very pleased with the results and will use this masking technique again.

You have until November 24th to join the fun at CAS Mix Up.  Enjoy and Happy Masking..
