CAS Mix Up May Gesso Resist

I was excited to see that CAS Mix Up's May Challenge is Gesso Resist!
My Gesso has been neglected.
I used Gesso Resist, Stamping and Die Cutting.

Linda is hosting the Challenge and shared with us an inspiring list of
Gesso Resist video techniques.

I loved Susan's DT launch card and used her credit card Gesso Resist technique.
Check out her Cat's Ink.Corporated blog for more details.

I am adding my CAS Christmas Tag Cards also to the
CAS Christmas Card May Challenge: Winter Berries. Hosted by Loll.
I was inspired by Loll's gorgeous card to use my Strathmore Tan Mixed Media paper!

Here are my cards...Enjoy!

I die cut 2 Strathmore Tan Mixed Media paper tags using CUTplorations
"Stitched Tags Nesting Dies".

Then used a palette knife to scoop out a bit of Gesso onto my glass mat and
used an old gift card to dip the narrow edge into the Gesso and
make swipes going different directions onto both tags.  Let dry.

Sponged Distress Oxide Inks: Candied Apple and Lucky Clover onto tags and sponged
Vintage Photo onto edge of tags.

Die cut Never Before Used SSS "Christmas Foliage Dies" and attached to tags with
Fine Tip Glue Pen.
Colored Winter berries with Zig pen.

Added SU "Merriest Wishes" sentiments and ribbon to both tags.
Popped up tags with white craft foam and attached to SU Whisper White 100#
cardbase and Done!

I loved the Gesso Resist Technique and how the Tan MM gave more muted colors.

Sharing larger photos of each card so you can see the Gesso better...Enjoy!

You have until the 24th to play along in the challenges.
Stay safe and Creative my friends.  Hugs..

Stamps: SU Merriest Wishes.
Paper: Strathmore Tan Mixed Media...Thank you again Loll for the Tan and Black MM papers:-)

  1. These are wonderful Nancy! Not done this technique with the credit card so must try it! Great cards. x

  2. Love this jazzed up Christmas tag using the Gesso credit card technique. Isn't this fun? So many new ways to work on our card. Good job, love this beauty. Hope you are well.
    Thanks for sharing! xx

  3. WOW!! Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Nancy and so artsy! Love everything about your tag/cards!! Hugs. :0)

  4. Love the results you got with this technique, Nancy! Wonderful mix of colors that are perfect for showing off this sweet branch and berries! It's such an artsy and fun Christmas card, my friend!

  5. Awesome results using the tan mm paper, Nancy! Your tags are gorgeous. I love this swipe technique and need to do some myself! Great technique to use opposites on the colour wheel ... your colours stay true. Love the dimension of the die-cuts. xx

    1. I think I will be making more versions. Loved how the tan mixed media worked out to tone down the colors. Hugs..

  6. very artsy tags Nancy with the CC swiped gesso. I love the colours the tan Mixed Media paper really tones down the colours and the vintage photo on the edge brings it all together :)

  7. What cool and pretty backgrounds using the gift card and gesso, Nancy! I love how you sponged on the Christmas colors ... and now those dies are on my Wish List! (That's the problem with running the NBUS challenge, lol!) Thank you for sharing at NBUS!! Hope you're having fun and keeping safe!! Hugs, Dolly

  8. Love the way you got various intensities of colour depending on the gesso resist! A great festive design with those die cuts over the red and green tags.

  9. Wow Nancy never tried that. Great idea! Love it! Great colours too.
Thanks for sharing, and may God bless and keep you and all whom you love, in these different times.
Prayer hugs, Shaz in Oz. X

  10. What a neat way to use the gesso and the great results on your tag. I love the colors and the holly just pops against that background. That ribbon is really pretty.

  11. Fabulous background and I love how you used the gesso. Wonderful card Nancy and so very unique x.

  12. I know I was a little behind, but you've been a very busy card maker just lately. Pretty tags today! Love the dimension on these with the dies, and the backgrounds are awesome. Great color blend, and the gesso gives nice texture. Must put that on my list.

  13. I love these Nancy, the tags look fab, great festive colours and fab results from the gesso resist. I haven't tried the credit card technique with the gesso yet but it's definitely on my to do list. Glad you enjoyed the challenge xx

  14. Wonderful results Nancy on your lovely tags, I'm glad I inspired you to give the Speckled Gesso Resist Technique a go!

    1. I was so inspired by your card even though my tag cards turned out very different from your gorgeous card. I really appreciated the link to the technique too:-) We do have fun!! Hugs..Nancy

  15. Both tag cards are fantastic, Nancy! I love the gesso's swiped marks showing through the distress ink! So interesting and unique! The bright Candied Apple and Lucky Clover are muted by the tan MM paper and the tone of the colors are beautiful. Edging the tag with Vintage Photo gives it a warm feeling and the color matches the tone of the red and green well. The white die-cuts with red berries are so pretty and the Riding Hood Red (not too bright red) ribbon finishes the tags perfectly! Hugs.. Hideko

Thank you so much for visiting and leaving your much appreciated comments! Hugs....Nancy
