Time for our 2nd Christmas in the Air Featured Project at STAMPlorations!
Monika and I look forward to sharing our Christmas projects with you.
Never too soon to start your 2020 Christmas cards!
STAMPlorations has many wonderful Clear Stickers Stamps still available,
which are perfect for adding to artsy watercolored backgrounds.
I made the watercolored backgrounds using Distress Inks onto a ziplock freezer
bag. Then spritzed ink with water and flipped over to lay onto ATC die cut Strathmore Mixed Media paper to get the smooshed results or you can do your smooshing
onto craft mat or glass mat.
I used Distress Inks: Barn Door and Mowed Lawn.
Finished the cards by attaching the Fabulous STAMPlorations "Merry Clear Stickers" to
the dry ATC backgrounds.
Die cut card front with "Crazy Running Stitch Rectangle Die" and stenciled with ARTplorations
"Dots All Over" Stencil using glittery Nuvo Glimmer Paste..Moonstone.
Let paste dry and then added the popped up ATC to the card base and Done!

Sharing two more Christmas cards using
After making the 1st two cards, I decided to make a couple more
cards using a Quick Clean and Simple (QCAS) design.
I added texture to the card base by dry embossing with a SU Embossing Folder "Subtle".
I had more backgrounds in my stash using the same smooshed technique as my
first two cards, but this time
I used Yupo paper and Distress Oxide Inks: Faded Jeans and Pumice Stone
for a warmer effect. Popped up the backgrounds with foam,
added the awesome "Tis the Season" Clear Stickers and Done!
Have fun hoping along and being inspired to start your 2020 Christmas Stash!
Hugs, Nancy

ReplyDeleteYour cards are so gorgeous! I am hoping to get started again on making Christmas cards for the next Christmas so these are very inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThese cards are BEAUTIFUL Nancy and remind me of the lovely card you sent me for Christmas! I had no idea that the sentiments were stickers...how cool is that?! Lovely, lovely cards my friend!! :0)
ReplyDeleteFantastic cards! Love the inks on the first card! The second card colors are just so calming!

ReplyDeleteFabulous quick CAS cards! Needless to say the blue and white ones are my favourites!
ReplyDeletewow, great design!
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to try smooshing with a plastic bag as I love the effect you've achieved here!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards! x
I like your smoosh technique to make the backgrounds and the stickers you used.
ReplyDeleteWonderful backgrounds for these awesome sentiments, Nancy! I especially love the red and green and I'm impressed. I would have ended up with mud! Wonderful design!
ReplyDeleteI will be teaching this technique at our June Retreat, Bonnie. The technique gives you more control so you do NOT end up with mud:-) Hugs...
DeleteWhat a great and impressive idea for quick cards, Nancy! Thanks for describing your process. The results are awesome. Fabulous cards!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nancy. I had so much fun making the backgrounds:-) Hugs..
DeleteLove how vibrant the red & green card came out. Both are lovely.
ReplyDeleteLovely, Nancy! Love the way you've featured these stickers! and the bright clean look of the red, and green version!
ReplyDelete=]
I LOVE both your cards using this fun and easy technique Nancy! Those large sentiment stickers are fantastic and I used many of the ones you gifted me on my Christmas cards. Thanks! xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Loll. I am loving all the clear stickers from STAMPlorations:-) I just got a set of Birthday stickers that I have already used..so easy:-) Hugs..Nancy
DeleteOh, my goodness!! Those backgrounds are fabulous!! And the CAS layouts let them shine so perfectly!
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Nancy. I really like how the stickers look on your gorgeous backgrounds. Great idea x
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous Nancy... I'm loving those clear sticker sentiments too but unfortunately the postage to the UK is $15 alone...
ReplyDeleteI will let you know Ros the next time Shery has a discount on her shipping:-) If you order $75 or more you get free shipping too:-) Hugs..Nancy
DeleteThought I'd chime in regarding the $15 postage to the UK. Shipping a package that's up to 8 oz. alone to the UK is already $14.50 for first-class package international service (verifiable here: https://postcalc.usps.com/Calculator/MailServices?country=10150&ccode=GB&omil=False&dmil=False&mdt=2%2F10%2F2020&mdz=11%3A59&m=6&o=8). The remaining $0.50 doesn't even cover the Paypal fees and packaging materials I use so I'm actually subsidizing the shipping on every international order. Go over 8 oz. and the shipping jumps up to $24.50 -- and I don't (and have never) go back to the customer asking to pay for the shipping overage; I take on the cost myself. Oh and just recently (January 26), USPS has raised its rates so it's really tough for small business owners like me to offer free international shipping.
DeletePrettiest red and green on your first card, and I love the soft blend of blue and gray on the second. There's that awesome embossing folder again, too. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful the backgrounds are fabulous

ReplyDeleteI am totally sold on the stickers, Brenda. So easy and yes, beautiful font. Hugs..Nancy
DeleteBeautiful QCAS cards, Nancy. No surprise I’m partial to your second card in my favourite blue colour. š
ReplyDeleteAt our retreat last year, Trina..I wrote down your color combo and now have your favorite colors and Love using them:-) Hugs...Nancy
DeleteAll four cards are fabulous, Nancy! What a clever idea to use a ziplock freezer bag to do smooshing! Thanks for the how-to pictures.
ReplyDeleteThe smooshed holiday color backgrounds are so pretty! The sparkle of the glimmer paste snow must be amazing in real life.
The smooshed Yupo backgrounds definitely have warmth and they look peaceful and dreamy. Adding the subtle texture to the card bases is a wonderful touch.
The clear sentiment stickers are convenient and easy to use! :-)
Hugs.. Hideko
Thank you so much, Hideko for your thoughtful comment:-) I really liked how I could control the colors so they did not blend and make mud! Also clean up was easy and I just reused the cut up freezer ziplock. Hugs, Nancy
Deletelove the look of these, wonderful watery bkgs...perfect for my eyes.
ReplyDeletexx Karen
I think it is a technique you would like too:-) Hugs...
