CAS Mix Up Challenge: Oxidized Metal

CAS Mix Up Challenge: Oxidized Metal is a Fabulous Challenge
hosted by the very talented Susan.  The cards by the DT and Guest Designer, Arlene
are Gorgeous and so Inspiring!  Be sure and check them out.

My card using Oxidized Metal, Stamping, and Die Cutting!

I have been so inspired by all the Gorgeous Oxidized Metal samples by our sister
challenge: CAS Mix Up that I just had to try this awesome technique.
I used the 1st video tutorial on the list of videos on the CAS Mix Up challenge site
for my inspiration.

I used Tonic Mirror Card Stock: Emerald Green and Distress Ink refills: Peeled Paint and
Blueprints Sketch.  I followed the video steps by covering the green Mirror CS with
water using my aqua brush. Then dropped the green and blue inks onto piece and
heated and moved around inks with heat tool.

Covered with clear EB powder and heated carefully by heating under
the cardstock and then on the top.  When dry,  rubbed with paper towel to remove
excess powder.

I had planned to use the piece to die cut with an AliExpress trees die, but the
die did not cut all the way thru so I ended up die cutting white trees, which I inlaid
into the tree depressions,  which worked great!

I then die cut a frame using CUTplorations Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Dies.
Attached frame to image that I had popped up with foam to the card base.
Then stamped Penny Black "Holiday Snippets" sentiment onto card stock,
fussy cut and attached to background and Done!

I loved the results and so happy I had time to play in the challenge.
You have  until the 24th to play along.
Thank you again, Susan for an awesome challenge!  Hugs...

  3. Gorgeous colours and textures, Nancy! And great save by die cutting the trees in white and laying them over the depressions from the failed die cutting. I haven't yet tried this CMU challenge but hope to try it soon.

  5. What a gorgeous Christmas card, Nancy! The emerald green mirror cs and the distress inks' colors are simply beautiful and the heat-embossed texture is so cool. The white die-cut trees pop against the shiny background. (You captured the shine in the picture!) Great job with recovering and inlaying the snowy scene perfectly in the background!

  11. Okay, this is awesome! Nancy, I just had to check... I have not received an email from you since Nov 15, so something is wonky. I have not received one of my own blog emails since Nov 20. Both are powered by Feedburner. Something must be wrong with Feedburner. Anyway, I'm glad I came over because it would be a shame to miss this!
