CAS Watercolour December Challenge: Watercolour Resist

The November Watercolour Text Challenge was a huge success.  So many amazing and creative cards linked to our Gallery.  I can't wait to see the cards for Watercolour Resist...a favorite technique by so many talented stampers.

Here is my  Brushos Watercolour Emboss Resist Card.  I love the vintage style of my Christmas Card.

I used my STAMPlorations "Poinsettia Row" clear stamp and MISTI to stamp the image onto Arches 140# Cold Press paper with Versamark and heat embossed with SU White Embossing Powder.  I then spritzed the image and around the image with water and sprinkled on Leaf Green, Scarlet and Brilliant Red Brushos.  I spritzed a little again so the colors would blend more then air dried.  Before totally dry I used a paper towel to rub the Brushos off my heat embossed image.  My image had an ivory vintage look instead of white so I went with SU off white Victoria Lace (ret) to trim the cut down poinsettia panel.  I taped the ribbon to the back of the panel letting just the pretty edge of the lace show.

Next I die cut the card front with the largest (4 1/4" x 5 1/2") of the three CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle nesting Die.  I used my MISTI again to stamp my HLS Mixed Christmas Sentiments "Seasons Greetings" in SU Emerald Envy.

I then attached my panel with foam tape to the card front to pop it up and added 4 Nuvo Crystal Glitter Drops..White Blizzard.  I have a little container with pre-made Nuvo drops in 4 different colors and several sizes and attach to cards when needed using my SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Sharing a little trick...when I attach sequins and drops with my glue pen I set a large acrylic block on top and they attach quickly and securely.

I then attached the die cut layer to the SU Very Vanilla card base and voila'...all Done!  I loved the results and hope you like it too.

This month the Design Team and our Amazingly Talented Guest Designer, Deepti-Dee's Art Utopia have so many gorgeous cards to inspire you.   You still have until Dec. 24th to play along with our CAS Watercolour December W/C Resist Challenge.  Do hope you get a chance to play this month.  It is a great technique for your holiday cards.  Hugs.....

All my supplies are listed in my description...enjoy!

Adding my card to more Challenges.....

  1. Wow Nancy I absolutely love that Brusho background!! Beautiful card. You can enter your card in the December STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge - CAS with a twist of red and green!

    1. Thanks for the reminder Harriet. It was on my to do list:-) Hugs, Nancy

  2. Love the poinsettia border stamp! It works perfectly with the lovely lace trim. And your brushos look great - the red and green didn't muddy together into brown (which has happened to me!). Great tip about putting an acrylic block on top of the embellishments to get them to set securely - I'll use that!

  3. What a glorious effect....vintage and so artsy. Absolutely love it x

  4. So pretty Nancy. And it does have a vintage twist with the lace edging. Great design and fantastic technique my friend. xx

  5. Kind of a vintage twist with new style mixed in. Love it! I could have sworn your Nuvo drops were real pearls. They're perfect! Don'cha love those things? I like this technique, too. Pretty, Nancy!

  6. Your poinsettias make a perfect resist for these pretty Brusho colors, Nancy! The peek of vintage lace is perfect as well as this CAS layout! Awesome, my friend!

  7. love the poinsettia against the green and red brushos the burs of colour is amazing. BTW the Nuvo drops look amazing

  8. Your card is just beautiful. I love the intense color panel with flowers on a white background. Wonderfully stands out and draws the eye.

  9. Vintage AND modern at the same time! I don't know how you do it. The Brushos give such depth behind the poinsettias. Nice control of your medium.
