My first attempt at Alcohol Ink Landscape Painting! I am very pleased with the results all because of 2 DVD's by June Rollins that a friend let me borrow. They were Dreamscape Landscape 1 and Landscape 2 DVD's by June Rollins. I could never have had such good results without June's expert instructions. I made 4 samples so you will be seeing more...at least pieces :-) Two more items to add to my art wishlist !
This landscape reminded me of the Utah Redrock Country where we have spent many backpacking and trailer camping trips. I thought it was perfect for a Happy Retirement card.
Yupo paper is a must I think for any alcohol ink creations. The ink moves much more on the Yupo compared to Glossy paper. Also you need plain alcohol for moving the inks. 91% is recommended. I used 70%, but will be getting 91% to see the difference. There are plenty of You Tube videos online for different techniques. Lots of inky fun ideas. Enjoy....
My card is also for this months CAS Mix Up June Challenge: Die Cuts + Stamping + Your choice..my choice..Alcohol Ink Landscape.
CAS Mix Up June Challenge ends on June 24th. Don't forget to make your card a Clean and Simple Mixed Media creation. Have fun!
I used Snippets of Alcohol Landscape for my Happy Retirement Label so adding to Snippets Playground. My 1st time to play. Thanks Pixie for a fun blog and wonderful prizes :-)

WOW ... this is STUNNING!! I LOVE this landscape Nancy. It does remind me of Utah (which I have only seen in photos). Awesome card. I love that you used the same paper for your sentiment banner. Gorgeous, gorgeous card! xx
ReplyDeleteThis awesome landscape made a beautiful card, Nancy! I love how you've stamped the sentiment on a matching piece! Wow!
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous landscape with the alcohol inks Nancy - love the design of your card as well!
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy and welcome to the Snippets Playground! Wow, what a stunning scene you made - it reminds me of New Mexico and a very happy holiday we had there. Come back and play next week too!

WOW! You did it! And you even have buildings in the foreground! I am not sure I'd even attempt this. Outstanding, Nancy!
ReplyDeleteOh no Nancy...they are rock formations. We do not hike where there are buildings...ever! It is ok if you want them to be buildings though...Thanks for your comment mf.
DeleteI recognized the landscape as the American southwest right away - I remember scenes like that when I travelled in Utah and Colorado. Great job at capturing the colours of that landscape - so totally different to our Pacific Northwest colours. Thanks for the links to the videos - I must watch them. And try using the different strengths of alcohol with my inks.
ReplyDeleteI was pleased with how the 71% alcohol spread and reconstituted the alcohol inks, but did find out that Walgreen carries the 90% plain alcohol, so will try and compare.
DeleteHugs, Nancy
What a gorgeous scene and colors! Also love the matching sentiment strip!
ReplyDeleteThis fantastic scene transported me back to my hiking days around those red rock formations, Nancy ... you've captured not just the look, but the shimmering heat with this amazing technique! Fabulous! Anita :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic job on this, Nancy! Love the rich colors, and I could see Utah in it immediately. We always love visiting there!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card. Gorgeous rich colours too.
ReplyDeleteThis is a big WOW! Fantastic landscape scene, and awesome that you did it with alcohol inks. It's got all the rich sunset colors that I so love, and is amazing to think this is your 1st try at this! Cool idea to use just a bit of the colors to add the sentiment and draw the eyes back up into your painting! I hope you'll do more of this. (tutorial hint, hint!). TFS
ReplyDeleteMary, go to June Rollins Dreamscape site (linked above) and You Tube for June and other artists Alcohol landscapes and other Alcohol Ink techniques. You will be totally Inspired...I think! I sure have been. Thank you for your sweet comment my friend. Hugs, nancy
