Twofer Card Challenge #12: Bird

Still time to play in the Twofer January Card Challenge #12: Birds
The challenge ends on the 24th.

My Twofer Birds Cards

Loved both cards.  Thank you Dolly and DT for all the inspiration.

My Bokeh Background Birds Card.

I was inspired by all the Bokeh Technique cards on CAS Mix Up Bokeh January
Card Challenge!
Here is a Bokeh card of mine using the same Distress Ink color combo, but a
very different design.  Distress Inks:Fossilized Amber, Peacock Feathers, Lucky Clover,
Faded Jeans, and Wilted Violet.

I LOVE how my background turned out with the top half representing sky
and bottom half foliage for the stamped STAMPlorations "For the Birds" set.

I sponged the DI's using TH mini blending tool onto Strathmore Mixed Media.
Then die cut with Memory Box Stitched Rectangle Dies.

Let sponged background dry then stamped birds with Clear Versamark using MISTI.
Removed from MISTI and used the end of a pointed palette knife to carefully
add SU Pool Party EB Powder,  then Crushed Curry and Early Espresso EB Powders.
Then heat set.

Next used Kaisercraft Bubbly Stencil to add Bokeh circles with sponge dauber dabbed
in Versamagic Cloud White Pigment Ink.
Let dry,  then restamped a few of the circles with stencil and ink to add dimension.

Let dry completely,  which is very important when using pigment inks.
Placed in MISTI again and stamped SSS Bouquet of Thanks and
heat embossed with Early Espresso EB Powder.

Die cut Gemund Woodland 110# cardstock using next largest MB die for a narrow
frame for the main image and attached with fun foam.

Attached layered image to Gemund Woodland card base with fun foam
and Done! Loved the results:-)

Realized the birds were  blending in too much so outlined with 01 Art Pen.
Now Done!

My 2nd Birds card

QACAS ( Quick and CAS) Stenciled background Bird Card!

I already had the background in my stash of stencils:-)
I had splashed the background with Distress Oxide inks: Scattered Straw,
Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Festive Berries.

Then used ARTplorations "Barley" Stencil designed by Sanna Lippert
and sponged with Distress Ink Vintage Photo.

Die cut the background with CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle
Nesting Dies. I used the same die set to add the SU Early Espresso
Cardstock framing.

Next stamped the "For the Birds" image in MISTI using Clear Versamark
and heat EB with SU Early Espresso EB Powder.
Also added heat embossed PB sentiment on a sponged background.

Attached layers using fun foam onto SU Whisper White Thick CS.
And Done!  Ended up with Twofers that I really liked:-) Thank you Dolly! Hugs..

CAS Stencil Card Challenge Reminder

What a fun month with the launch of Loll's new CAS Stencil Card Challenge!
It is already time for the Reminder cards by the DT.

Be sure and check out all the fabulous inspiring CAS Sponged Stenciled cards.

Here is my Sponged and Heat Embossed Stenciled Card

I discovered a Sponged Stenciled background in my stash.
I had used ARTplorations Retro Circles Stencil that I taped down to Strathmore
Mixed Media paper.  Then sponged with Distress Oxides: Faded Jeans and Lucky Clover.
I was inspired by Loll's Stenciling with Brushes video (4:09) for my technique.

I kept looking at the background and finally decided to try die cutting
with MB Stitched Circle Dies.

I really liked the circles and Heat Embossed with Clear Versamark ink and
SU Clear EB Powder.
This gave a beautiful shine to the circles and sharpened the colors.
You can't see the shine in my photo,  but the sharp colors really show up in the photo.

Next I stamped the Papertrey Ink "Up, Up and Away" sentiment with Faded Jeans
and heat embossed with clear EB powder and then sponged with DOX Lucky Clover.
Thank you Dolly for gifting me this wonderful stamp set:-)

I had clear heat embossed the circles, so did the same with the entire tag
to make it nice and shiny like the circle.  I die cut card front with  CUTplorations
Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle Nesting Die.

Next popped up each circle with die cut green fun foam,  which adds a nice
shadow effect that you can see IRL.  Then I popped up sentiment with dimensionals and Done!

Sure hope you can join us on the CAS Stencil Card Challenge.
You have until the 24th to play along:-) Hugs..

CAS Mix Up Bokeh Challenge Reminder

Be sure and check out the awesome CAS Cards by our DT and
our very talented Guest Designer, Viv (Viv's Visuals).

My card using Bokeh Technique, Stamping, Die Cutting, Heat Embossing.

I used the same technique as my Bokeh launch card with the help from
this Create a Beautiful Background with the Bokeh Technique video
by keenan Kreations (6:32).

I began by sponging Stathmore Mixed Media with Distress Inks:
Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon and Candied Apple.
I was able to get a real saturated background and dried with heat tool.

Next I used Kaiser Craft "Bubbly" Stencil to sponge my different sized circles with
Versa Magic Cloud White pigment ink. Drying often with a heat tool
to avoid smearing, The video is really helpful for this Bokeh technique.

I then die cut the background with 2 sizes of Memory Box Stitched Circle Dies.
I made sure the outer frame matched up with the inner circle.
I attached Bokeh circle background to my Gemund "Woodland" specialty paper.

Next attached the Alexandra Renke Spring Flowers Dies and Magic Butterfly Die that were a
gift from my dear friend Bonnie. I did use my stylus to give shape to the butterfly.

Placed card front in MISTI and stamped the sentiment with Versafine black ink
and heat embossed with SU Clear EB Powder and Done!

I learned from this background to make the Bokeh circles farther apart,
which I did with my launch card.  I still need more practice,
but have enjoyed learning the new (to me) technique.

You still have until the 24th to play along.
This is my last month on the CAS Mix Up DT,  but I will still be playing
along in this awesome challenge by Loll and Bonnie.

If you have checked out the new CAS Stencil Card Challenge by Loll
you will see that I am now on the Design Team:-)
Loll's Challenge went live on the 4th and her reminder cards will be on the 18th.
We would love to have you check out the new challenge:-) Hugs..

CAS Christmas Card Challenge:Blue & Silver

My New Years Resolution...to start my 2019 Christmas Cards in January!
I love the CAS Christmas Card Challenge for inspiration
and amazing CAS Christmas designs by the very talented DT and GD.

Christine is hosting this month and chose Blue & Silver for her theme.

Here is my card

The most difficult part of my card..photographing the dry embossed silver foil!
Out of at least 20 photos I got One with the true colors and not too much glare.
But that is all I needed,  right?!?

I die cut the SU Silver Foil paper with Penny Black Antique Frame Die.
Next dry EB the snowflakes with Sizzix EB folder.
I have never tried that before and it worked great.

I used CUTplorations Warm Winter Wishes Phrase for a die cut sentiment.
I die cut the phrase twice with Strathmore Mixed Media paper.
Then die cut a 3rd time and painted with reconstituted Lindy Magicals
 Tweedle Dee Denim.

Attached all layers with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen and weighted down with large
acrylic block until dry.

Popped up Silver foil background with Fun Foam and attached to
Gemund Woodland CS for added texture.

Attached Warm Winter Wishes to foil with Fine Tip Glue Pen
and weighted down with block and Done!

Thank you Christine for a fun Christmas Challenge.  Card #1 for 2019:-)
You have until the 24th to play along.
Hugs..

Brand New CAS Stencil Card Challenge:-)

So excited to share Loll's New CAS Stencil Card Challenge and play along
as one of Loll's DT Members:-)
Congratulations Loll for a New Challenge that I think is going to be very popular.

Here is the link to the CAS Stencil Card Challenge
with all the rules and the introductions to the
very talented Design Team.  I will be moving over from the CAS Mix Up DT,
but I will still be playing in Loll and Bonnie's CAS Mix Up, CAS Watercolour and
CAS Christmas Challenges as often as possible.

This Challenge will give you many creative CAS Card ideas on how to use your stencils.
You will be so inspired by the beautiful creative cards by the Design Team and our
Guest Designer each month.  Challenges begin on the 4th day of the month
and end on the 24th of the month.

Here is my CAS Stencil Card...Sponging!

There are several video tutorials if you need inspiration for your sponged stencil card.

I used Loll's new You Tube Video "Stenciling with Sponges" 4:09. for my inspiration.

I placed my ARTplorations stencil "Rosegarden" designed by Sanna Lippert over
a piece of Strathmore Cold Press paper and taped down with 3M masking tape.

Next I used a sponge dauber to color my rose petals with Distress Oxide Inks:
Fossilized Amber,  Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry and Spiced Marmalade.
Then sponged the leaves with DOX's: Twisted Citron and Lucky Clover.

Then I outlined the roses thru the stencil with a black 05 Art pen.
Removed stencil and die cut image with CUTplorations Running Stitch Rectangle
Nesting Dies.  There are 3 dies in the set.  I used the medium die.
Next used the largest die for the die cut card front and attached to SU
Whisper White Thick Cardstock.

The main image looked flat so I die cut it with the CUTplorations Hugs Word Die.
Set die cut Hugs aside and die cut 2 more Hugs out of SU Basic Black CS
and stacked the 2 black Hugs with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen then attatched the
black stacked Hugs to the original Die Cut main image Hugs
and Inlaid the die cut sentiment .

Much more interesting with the Hidden Word Technique,  don't you think?!?
Popped up main image using Foam Dimensional Tape.
Now I am done!

Hope you join our Sponged Stenciling Challenge.
The winner will be chosen to be a Guest Designer for this fun challenge.
Remember,  you have until the 24th to play along:-) Hugs...

STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge Anything Goes: Optional Color Twist..Burgundy

The First STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge of 2019:-)
The talented Design Team is looking forward to Inspiring all our followers with CAS Card Designs!

Please remember to make your Cards CAS Anything Goes
with Optional Color Twist: Burgundy.

A fun STAMPlorations CAS Card Design using Six products...how fun is that?

I wanted to use the CAS Anything Goes Challenge with the optional
color twist: Burgundy,  but did not have any burgundy inks so....I mixed my own
with Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors.

I Googled Burgundy and got ideas for color wheel mixing to get a shade of Burgundy.
I used #34 Dark Pink, #36 Red Wine, #37 Deep Pink and #139 Purple for Burgundy.

Used my T.H. Glass Craft Mat and wet flat paint brush to spread my watercolors onto mat.
Painted all 4 colors onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper.
The bottom color was a mixture of #37 and #139 for my shade of burgundy.

When dry I die cut with ATC Tag Builder Die, which left a few scraps.
Next heat embossed the happy from the Happy Birthday stamp set.

Next die cut the Birthday Word Die from a piece of leftover paper that had been painted
with the #34 Dark Pink.  Die cut another Birthday using SU Basic Black CS and stacked both using SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.

My image looked too flat and unfinished,  so I stamped the sweet Brave One butterflies on
another small scrap using Versafine Black ink and fussy cut.  Stamped the flowers from the same set and ink onto a scrap of MM paper and cut off one flower and fussy cut.
Then colored the flower with a Zig marker.

Popped up all 3 small embellishments and added small rhinestone from my stash to flower.

Next Die cut Whisper White layer for a simple border and popped up main image
with fun foam.  Attached to SU Whisper White Card Base and Done!

I managed to keep my design CAS even with using so many STAMPloration products:-)

Hope you get to join us this month for our STAMPlorations CAS Card Challenge.

CAS Mix Up January 2019 Bokeh Challenge

 Happy New Year my friends.
I invite you to play along with the CAS Mix Up Bokeh Challenge.

Be sure and check out the inspiring cards by our creative DT and very talented
Guest Designer Viv (Viv's Visuals)

I am looking forward to hosting the Bokeh Technique Challenge.

This will be my last month on the CAS Mix Up Design Team,  but I will still be playing on
this fabulous and inspiring challenge.  I have learned so many new Mixed Media
Techniques and love all the very talented DT and GD girls!

I will not be going far...I will be joining Loll's new CAS Stencil Card Challenge
that goes live on the 4th day of each month,  starting on January 4, 2019!

My Card!
Bokeh Technique + Stamping + I chose die cutting
and Encrusted Jewel Technique (Layered Embossing Powders).

There are several Bokeh videos on the CAS Mix Up Challenge blog.
I chose the Create a Beautiful Background with the Bokeh Technique by Keenan
Kreations (6:32).

You can make your own circle cut stencil using different sized circles cut out of an acrylic
sheet or in my case,  I used a Kaiser Craft "Bubbly" Stencil.

For my 1st step,  I used Strathmore Mixed Media paper and a SU Craft Sponge
to sponge on all the Distress Inks to get a saturated colored background .

For the background I chose Distress Ink colors: Fossilized Amber, Broken China,
Faded Jeans, and Wilted Violet.

I placed the stencil in different areas and sponged circles with Versa Magic Cloud White
Pigment ink using a sponge dauber.  The videos really do help with your
Bokeh Technique and background sponging if you have never tried this technique.

You are working with pigment ink, which smears easily.
You will learn tips to help prevent smearing on the videos.  I did paper towel blotting,
a lot of drying with a heat tool and air drying.

I made a couple 3" x 4" backgrounds,  knowing I would be cutting them down.
It gave me more practice too. Once your backgrounds are done you can get
creative with your finished card designs.

I used Gemund Woodland 110# Cardstock for my card base,  that my dear friend Leslie
gave me last Christmas.  I die cut the window on the A2 card front using
Dianamics Square Peek-a-Boo window die.

Next attached a piece of the Bokeh background behind the die cut window
using scotch tape.

I found these beautiful "Encrusted Jewel" dolphins in my stash from our
2018 Retreat in BC.  Sharing My Blog Post with the description of the technique.
My Bokeh Background reminded me of an undersea world, so
the dolphins looked like the perfect fit!

Stamped my Penny Black sentiment in MISTI and heat embossed.
Then attached card front to card base and Done!

Be sure and check out all the beautiful and creative  Clean and Simple Card samples
from our very talented CAS Mix Up Design Team and Guest Designer.
You have until the 24th to play along!

Thank you again Loll and Bonnie for the fun and inspiring
Fabulous CAS Mix Up Challenges.

Love and Hugs..
