Here is my card using Die cut Heated Copper + Stamping + Die Cuts
Close Up showing shine and blue tone from heated copper!
A couple years ago Loll and I played with the Heated Copper technique.
Loll made an awesome You Tube video of the technique for Splitcoaststampers.
As soon as I saw Mac had chosen "Metal" as our challenge, I knew I wanted to
play with some of my Heated Copper stash for my DT card.
If you go to Loll's video you will see the blow torch technique.
I did basically the same thing except used the top of of our woodstove
to heat my copper.
I heated long enough to get some blue color tones on the copper. So pretty!
For my new card I die cut the leaf image with a leaf plate.
Then die cut the leaf image with a partial stitched circle.
Then set my image aside.
Next Die Cut the left corner with a corner die.
Die cut the partial circle in card front and Inlayed copper piece.
Next placed card front in MISTI and stamped sentiment.
Removed and attached card front to SU Copper Foil CS.
My card did not seem balanced, so I added Cinnamon Stickles and Done!
I was very pleased with my heated copper card and hope you like it too!

ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful piece of die cut heated copper on your card Nancy! I have been unable to get that technique to work - either I have the wrong copper or not enough heat? anyway - your's is beautiful here - and the die cut in the corner adds nice CAS texture to your design! xx
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful design Nancy and the die cut leaf design in that partial circle is so pretty, and the colours you have managed to get with the heated copper add lots of great interest to the piece, and a great design idea to inset it into the white background. I adore the die cut corner, and the added stickles and uplifting sentiment finish it perfectly. x

ReplyDeleteBeautiful coloring on your heated copper, Nancy. I need to pull mine out again I never quite knew what to do with those corner die cuts but do love the white on white. If you ever overheat copper, you can soak it in vinegar and salt and it will restore it to original color, and accidental experiment while trying to age it. Beautiful card and gorgeous die!

ReplyDeleteYour copper card is amazing, Nancy! I love it! The copper piece is so pretty and shows lots of colors including the blue tone. Your pictures show the colors so well. The leaf pattern in the partial circle and the corner die are very interesting design elements. The little Cinnamon Stickles tie in to the copper piece (color) and balance the layout. Hideko xx

DeleteI had never heard of the heated copper till I saw this card. What a beautiful result you have achieved especially with the blue shining through. Love the simple layout and the foil card base.

ReplyDeleteI would love to see what you do with the copper. Not sure if you can heat with adhesive, but still cool things you can do, like die cutting and dry embossing. You can do a search of my copper projects and on Loll's blog too. We have had so much fun with this product for a couple of years. Happy stamping, Hug, Nancy
