Karen's Technique Lovers Challenge: Splash Technique!

Our very talented dear friend Karen (Snippets) is hosting this weeks Splitcoaststampers TLC662 (Technique Lovers Challenge #662).  Karen has chosen "Splash Watercolour Technique" using another awesome and talented friend, Loll's (Stamping with Loll) You Tube "Splash Watercolour Background Technique" video.

Go to Loll's video and in a couple minutes you will be "Splashing" and having so much fun!

Here is my Splashing with Distress Oxide Inks Background Card!

I had a blast with this card.  I added one layer of Splashed Distress Inks at a time.  Drying with my heat tool between layers.  I swiped my Twisted Citron Ink pad onto my craft mat and spritzed with water.  Slapped my Arches Cold Press (I used smoother side) watercolour paper onto the ink in several places then dried.  Then used DOX Peel Paint using same technique and dried.  Then DOX Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade and Candied Apple using same technique. Drying between layers prevent the DOX inks from getting muddy.

Then I placed my card front in my MISTI and placed the 6 lined STAMPlorations The Bee's Knees "Layered Leaves" stamps from my brand new (today) stamp set designed by Shirley Bampton.  I had room for 2 more leaves.  It worked so well using MISTI.  The set also has 6 solid leaves for layering,  but I did not use them this time. Today I also got Shirley's "Layered Snowman" and "Layered Holly" stamp sets.  Lots of fun stamping in my future:-)  Thank you Shirley for inspiring us with your artsy stamp sets..so much creative fun my friend:-)

Next I die cut the stitched Thankful using SU Canvas Board (ret).  and stamped the Bold Sentiments: Hashtag Authentic stamp set.  Die cut my card front with my Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle die and attached to card base.   I love how it all turned out and hope you do too.

Now...a real plus to this challenge..Our dear friend Loll is giving us all an opportunity to link our cards to her blog for a 1 week  Mini Challenge using the Splash Technique with the chance to win a prize:-)  How fun is that?!?  Thank you Karen, Loll and Shirley for making my day so much FUN!

I am adding to more challenges..

Stenciled Brushos Monoprint Sunflower!

Celebrating The Flower Challenge 1st Birthday again with another Favorite Fall Flower..Sunflower!

Congratulations Aileen and to your talented Design Team!

Here is my Brushos Monoprint Sunflower Anniversary Card!

Denny and I will soon be celebrating our 52nd Anniversary...oh my!  We both Love sunflowers, Fall colors, CAS designs...and each other:-)

I used painter's tape to tape down my TCW Sunflower stencil onto Arches Mixed Media paper.  Then lightly sprinkled Brushos thru my stencil and liberally spritzed with water.  I layed a 2nd piece of mixed media paper over the top of the stencil to pick up the monoprint (negative) image.  I loved how it turned out.  Set aside to dry.  I have yet to finish a card using the positive image.

Next I die cut my image using my Memory Box Stitched Rectangle Die and then placed in my MISTI to stamp the PB Happy Snippet "True Love" sentiment.  It is kind of subtle,  but after 52 years I do not think we have to shout out our love for each other:-)

I attached my main image onto Fun Foam and then to SU Very Vanilla card base.  I am so pleased with our card and sure Denny will love it too:-)  Enjoy........Hugs!

Supplies:
Stamps: Penny Black "Happy Snippets"
Paper: SU Very Vanilla.  Arches Mixed Media.

Favorite Fall Flower

I love the STAMPlorations "Helenium Large" stamp flower,  which is a daisy like flower perfect for Fall stamping:-)  I have always loved the colors of Fall and just about all Fall Flowers,  so have chosen this flower as my Favorite Flower to celebrate...The Flower Challenge's 1st Birthday!

Congratulations to Aileen and her awesome Design Team!

Here is my "A Little Bit of Sunshine" Helenium card!

My card is also for CAS Mix Up October Layering Stencils + Stamping + Your Choice..die cutting and fussy cutting Challenge hosted by Julia!  You have until Oct. 24th to play along!

I layered 4 stencils using Distress Oxide Inks and my Clarity Brush onto Arches Mixed Media.  Then stamped my STAMPlorations Helenium flower using Archival Black ink onto Strathmore Cold Press paper that I had smooshed with Distress Oxides: Antique Linen, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber and Candied Apple.  I used all these colors except the Candied Apple for my stenciling.

I then fussy cut my flower and spritzed with water and moved the water with a paint brush to blend all the colors for a pretty Fall Flower.

Next I die cut my layer with my Penny Black Antique Frame and sponged the edges with Wild Honey and Spiced Marmalade.   I popped up my flower with dimensionals.  Then placed my layer in my MISTI and stamped my Penny Black Happy Snippets sentiment.

I finished my card by popping up my layer with fun foam and adding Wink of Stella to my flower.

Done and I really liked the results.  Hope you do too.  Happy Fall my friends...Hugs!

Here is my Fall Leaves Birthday card for my forever crafting girlfriend,  Leslie (Running With Scissors).  Leslie has received her card and loved it.  I was so pleased:-)  Happy Birthday my friend.

What would we do without our crafting friends?!?  I made the Bister powder background for my leaves and butterfly while in BC for a stamping Retreat with Loll, Christine and Susan.  I borrowed Christine's Bister powders and used her Thick CS from a local printing shop.

We were playing with the Cling Wrap technique.  I sprinkled Bisters Powders onto my thick cardstock and spritzed with water.  While wet I placed a piece of Glad Wrap onto my piece and scrunched up a bit to get these cool lines and to blend the Bister's colors.  The hard part....waiting until completely dry.  I left my piece to dry over night then carefully removed the cling wrap. Wow!!!  What a gorgeous background!!!

I finished my CAS Card recently by die cutting several leaves using SU Leaflets Dies and punched out the butterfly with SU Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch from my Cling Wrap background.

Next I dry embossed a SU Thick Whisper White card front using a older Cuddlebug leaf EB folder (Leafy Branch).  Then arranged the leaves and shaped butterfly attaching with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen and weighting down with a large acrylic block until dry.   Added linen thread to leaves and stamped my sentiment using MISTI and Archival Jet Black ink.  Done...and loved the results!  The colors and textures are...I think,  Gorgeous!

Hope you get to join our fun Fall Leaves 1st Birthday Celebration.  You have until the 24th to play along.  Happy Fall Stamping my friends.   Hugs..

CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils Reminder

Time already for our CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils Reminder Cards.  So much creative layering by our DT and GD, Sue (Sue's Card Craft).

Julia (Create With Me) is hosting this month and chose a wonderful theme.

Here is my Reminder Card!

I am using Stamping, Layering Stencils with Distress Oxide Inks and Die Cuts.

I used scraps from the same background as on my CAS Mix Up launch card sponging with Distress Oxide Inks: Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper using blending tools.  I love how smoothly and effortlessly DOX inks blend when sponging.  I kept adding colors until I was happy with the chalky Fall Colors.

Next I used 3 different stencils for my layering background.  I used TCW Raven Mosaic and Textures stencils and also Tim Holtz  THS007 stencil.  The 1st two stencils have several different stencil designs.  I used a total of 11 stencil designs from those 2 stencils plus the 1 THS007 stencil. I can see 6 designs on my background piece. I added Inka Gold..gold paint with my finger to the stenciled bird for a nice shine and stamped SU French Script using Candied Apple DOX for more depth. Then gave my bird an eye..using Staedler pen.

I Die Cut my background using Memory Box Stitched Circle Die, then die cut a white circle frame with SU Thick Whisper White.

Next I die cut CUTplorations Birthday Word using my background piece and again using SU Basic Black CS.  Attached off set using SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.  Placed my card base in my MISTI and stamped "Happy" from STAMPlorations "Happy Birthday" set.

I attached my main image trimming the edge for better placement balance.  Then attached die cut Birthday using Fine Tip Glue Pen and weighted down with large acrylic block.  Done and happy with results.

Looking forward to seeing more of you join in our CAS Mix Up October Challenge.  Be sure and check out the DT and GD cards along with several videos.  I used my favorite Tim Holtz Layering Stencils Part One YouTube video (13:01).  Enjoy and Happy Layering!  Hugs..

CAS Watercolour Fall Leaves...again!

I do Love Fall Leaves, so was happy that our CAS Watercolour October Challenge was "Fall Leaves" hosted by Bonnie!

We are also still celebrating CAS Watercolours 1st Birthday:-)

Congratulations to Bonnie & Loll, the Design Team and our GD's for the year!

Would you like to know more about our DT?  Click Here!

I am so thankful for being chosen as one of Loll & Bonnie's DT members.  What a fabulous year of friendships, creative learning of new techniques and playing with watercolour products:-)

I made this card thinking about our year and some of my favorite techniques.  I used Layering stencils for my background, but I am not adding to this months CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils Challenge because I did not add a stamped image.  But it was fun practicing the technique and making this card.

I used Strathmore mixed media paper for my Layering Stencils technique: ARTplorations Shutters and Bubbles stencils, Tim Holtz Faded Dots stencil and Dina Wakely Leafy Stencil.  Started by sponging thru the stencils with Distress Oxide inks: Fossilized Amber, Wild Honey, Worn lipstick, Twisted Citron, Spiced Marmalade and Abandoned Coral.  I then added Versamark ink to the entire die cut image and heat embossed with clear EB powder for a very shiny textured look in real life.

Next I die cut the basic black layer with Memory Box Stitched Rectangles to match the main image. Then I die cut CUTplorations Stitched Thankful Die out of SU Basic Black CS and a piece of orange Fun Foam for dimension and to add an orange shadow.

I popped up the main image layer with fun foam and attached the Thankful with SU Fine Tip Glue Pen and attached all to SU Thick Whisper White Card Base.

My card needed more...searched thru my embellishment stash and found these pretty Fall Leaves that I glued onto the background.  Now I was Done!

Hope you get to join our CAS Watercolour October Fall Leaves challenge and birthday celebration.  You have until the 24th to play along!

CAS Watercolour Fall Leaves 1st Birthday

I have been so looking forward to our CAS Watercolour October Fall Leaves challenge!
Hosted by Bonnie!

Here is my Fall Leaf card!

I am so thankful to be one of Bonnie and Loll's Design Team members:-)  It has been a year filled with inspiring and creative techniques, CAS designs and fun filled times with our very talented and friendly Design Team and Guest Designers. Thank you again Loll and Bonnie for the opportunity to learn so much about Watercolouring and see my techniques improve over the year.

I began my project by die cutting my panels using MB Stitched Rectangles Dies.  I then Splashed one color at a time of Distress Oxide Inks onto my craft mat and spritzed with water until I was happy with the depth of colors.  I dried between each colored layer (I prefer air drying).  Here is Loll's Splashing with Watercolours (2:24) Technique video.

Next I did the same splashing technique onto Arches Mixed Media paper and die cut my SU leaf.

I mounted my die cut panels on SU Pear Pizzazz card stock and die cut another leaf using the same paper.

I used Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach the leaves off setting for a green shadow effect. Next glued on a tiny Lucky Limeade Twine bow.

I finally tried using Distress Oxide Ink (Peeled Paint) to heat emboss my sentiment onto piece of the scrap background.  It worked great using clear EB powder.

Next I attached my leaves with foam tape and added fun foam to pop up my main image onto SU Thick Whisper White card base and attached at an angle.

I still am totally inspired by the magic of Distress Oxide Ink layering.  Hope you like the soft, chalky Fall Watercolours for my Fall Leaf.  Enjoy and hope you get to join our CAS Watercolour 1st Birthday Celebration.  There are awesome samples by our DT and our very CAS talented Guest Designer, Marcia (Marcia's Stampin' Pad) that will Inspire you all!

CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils

I am excited to see Julia (Create with Me) Hosting our CAS Mix Up October Layering Stencils Challenge!  Julia is a Pro at Mixed Media Projects.  You will Love her CAS Mixed Media Cards!

My card using Stamping + Layering Stencils with Distress Oxide Inks + Die Cut

I started by sponging Distress Oxide Inks: Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper using blending tools.  I love how smoothly and effortlessly DOX inks blend when sponging.  I kept adding colors until I was happy with the chalky Fall Colors.

Next I used 3 different stencils for my layering.  I used TCW Raven Mosaic and Textures stencils. Also used Tim Holtz  THS007 stencil.  The 1st two stencils have several different stencil designs.  I used a total of 11 stencil designs from those 2 stencils plus the 1 THS007 stencil. I can see 5 designs on my background piece.

I sponged Abandon Coral, Candied Apple and Vintage Photo Distress Oxides thru my stencils and sponged the panel edges with Vintage Photo. Next I sponged Vintage Photo along the edge of the kraft card stock layer.

I added a white die cut silhouette T.H. Wildflower for contrast and a linen thread bow for an embellishment.  I stamped my sentiment with Vintage Photo and went over it with a brown gel pen for a pretty shine.  Then I popped up and attached my panel using fun foam onto SU Thick Whisper White card base.

I really like the depth, textures and Fall colors of my card.  Thank you again Julia for a fun and creative challenge.  You have until the 24th to play in our CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils challenge.
