CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils

I am excited to see Julia (Create with Me) Hosting our CAS Mix Up October Layering Stencils Challenge!  Julia is a Pro at Mixed Media Projects.  You will Love her CAS Mixed Media Cards!

My card using Stamping + Layering Stencils with Distress Oxide Inks + Die Cut

I started by sponging Distress Oxide Inks: Fossilized Amber, Spiced Marmalade, Wild Honey, Abandoned Coral and Candied Apple onto Strathmore Mixed Media paper using blending tools.  I love how smoothly and effortlessly DOX inks blend when sponging.  I kept adding colors until I was happy with the chalky Fall Colors.

Next I used 3 different stencils for my layering.  I used TCW Raven Mosaic and Textures stencils. Also used Tim Holtz  THS007 stencil.  The 1st two stencils have several different stencil designs.  I used a total of 11 stencil designs from those 2 stencils plus the 1 THS007 stencil. I can see 5 designs on my background piece.

I sponged Abandon Coral, Candied Apple and Vintage Photo Distress Oxides thru my stencils and sponged the panel edges with Vintage Photo. Next I sponged Vintage Photo along the edge of the kraft card stock layer.

I added a white die cut silhouette T.H. Wildflower for contrast and a linen thread bow for an embellishment.  I stamped my sentiment with Vintage Photo and went over it with a brown gel pen for a pretty shine.  Then I popped up and attached my panel using fun foam onto SU Thick Whisper White card base.

I really like the depth, textures and Fall colors of my card.  Thank you again Julia for a fun and creative challenge.  You have until the 24th to play in our CAS Mix Up Layering Stencils challenge.

I guarantee you will be inspired by our DT and our wonderfully creative Guest Designer,  Sue (Sue's Card Craft)!  Also several very helpful videos.  I used the Tim Holtz Layering Stencils Part One (13:01) video for my card.  You can zip thru parts of the video unless you are like me and just have fun watching and listening to Tim's videos:-)

Happy Layering with your stencils my friends.  Hugs...

  13. LOVE that beautiful panel Nancy! I've tried to avoid the DO, as I know I will want every colour there is and every one they make from then on! I have so many inks, that a lot of them dry up before I even get to use them! A great CAS design! Have a wonderful week! Luv & Hugs. Hazel xx
