Our Design Team has now been busy designing Powdered Ink cards for our 2nd month.
We would love to have you join the fun.
Time to get out your Brushos, Bisters, Colorburst, Magicals, Infusions, etc.
Powdered Inks.
Here is my card using Bister Powdered Inks.
Because I already had a stash of positive and negative images using
different stencils with different Powdered Inks and this is a CAS (Clean and Simple)
Stencil Card Challenge, my cards took only minutes to design:-)
I placed ARTplorations Lupinus Stencil designed by Sanna Lippert
over my Strathmore Mixed Media paper.
Next I sprinkled Bisters: Yellow, Blue and Green over stencil and spritzed with water.
Removed stencil quickly and turned over onto another Mixed Media Paper.
Then blotted both MM papers with paper towel. Let Dry.
Voila...Two backgrounds for my stash!
My background was designed using Loll's Video Technique
I die cut my background using CUTplorations Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle
Nesting Die. Then placed in MISTI to stamp and heat emboss my sentiment.
Popped up with Fun Foam and Done!

My Negative Bisters Pigment Ink Background :-)
Now if you watched Loll's video and/or read my description above you will
know exactly how I created this 2nd stenciled artsy beauty background:-)
The only difference is the sentiment. Both sentiments on the cards were
heat embossed and were from the PTI Ways to say: Thinking of you.
I am so pleased to have 2 cards finished using backgrounds from my stash:-)

Your stenciling is so pretty Nancy! both positive and negative - love the colors you used - I have this stencil but haven't used it yet - now I see how pretty it looks when used! Thanks for a fun challenge this month! Julia xx

ReplyDeleteWhat a great challenge this is! I've tried this before and didn't have good luck but Loll has encouraged me so I'm going to give this a try. Your cards are just lovely. I like the original and the negative is so beautiful too.

ReplyDeleteHi Marcia...I think you would love the Powdered Inks technique. Be sure and watch Loll's videos. And...have plenty of w/c paper handy. You can't make just one background! I like Strathmore Mixed Media the best. Even if some of your backgrounds may not be to your liking be sure and save. They are great for die cuts or using parts of in the future. ReplyDeleteI love the earthy Bister colors you chose and they suit the design of the Lupinus stencil so well.
The grainy effect creates an organic/nature feel. This is all because you made the background during your camping trip? ;-)
Your second card is very artsy with the beautiful ink blend. You did a great job of the stencil monoprint technique and leaving the white part clean.

I can't wait to see your CSCC card, Hideko. Yes, I did make both the backgrounds for my stenciled cards when we were trailer camping. I then finished into CAS cards for this challenge. Oops, I missed this one! Positive or negative, it’s amazing what you can do with those Bisters. Beautiful variation of colors in these stately Lupines. Clean design, but the flowers look like lots of loving care went into them.
