CAS Watercolour Splash Reminder

It is already time for the CAS Watercolour  Splash Watercolouring Reminder,
which I am pleased to be hosting this month:-)

There are so many creative Splash cards by our talented DT
and creative Guest Designer, Marcia (marciakdesigns), plus our growing Gallery.

You still have until the 24th to visit the blog and play along:-)

I made 2 cards using the positive and negative Splash backgrounds from my
CUTplorations "Coffee Cup Silhouette Die".

My Splash Positive Card!
A birthday card for our coffee loving son, Levi!

I used Loll's Splash Background Video for both cards.
In only 2:25 minutes you will be ready to create Splash designs:-)

I used Bisters Pigment Powders that I reconstituted by spritzing the crystal powders
with water on my craft mat.
Next I pounced my Strathmore Mixed Media paper into the ink,
using One Bister's ink at a time and drying between layers to
create my Splash Watercolor Background.

I die cut the Bister's Splash Background with CUTplorations "Coffee Cup Silhouette Die"

Next I die cut the "Coffee Cup Silhouette Die" again using a smooshed background
 from my stash.
The background was made with Distress Oxides..not sure of colors.
You can see how I added drops of water to the Distress Oxide background.

I inset all my die cut pieces...just like a jigsaw puzzle. Which gave me a
positive and a negative main image.
Secured pieces of each image with scotch tape on the back.

Die cut SU Crumb Cake CS  with CUTplorations "Crazy Double Running Stitch Rectangle".
Popped up Positive image and Crumbcake layers using fun foam
onto SU Whisper White Thick card base.

Heat Embossed my PB Happy Snippets sentiment with Versamark
and Wow Bright White EB Powder onto Crumbcake CS and Done!

Here is my Splash Negative 2nd Card!

My CAS layouts are slightly different.

My sentiment on my 2nd card is from STAMPlorations "Bloom Happy" stamp set.

I used the Negative Splash Background for behind the coffee cup and frame.

I loved both cards equally.  I thought they were really fun and creative ways
to use my "Splash Watercolour" background!

I hope you are inspired by our DT and Guest Designer, Marcia
and will join us in the Spash fun this month.

Happy Summertime creating, my friends...Hugs!

  9. The splash technique certainly does look easy and fun and you can end up with all kinds of pretty and interesting backgrounds. I can just picture ink splattered all over my stamp room. Maybe outside on a nice day... Both of your cards are awesome with the splash backgrounds and cool die. You do make me want to give it a go!

  11. Oh, I love your Bisters splash background, packed with gorgeous earthy colors for both cards, Nancy! You used 6 colors! No wonder the background looks so pretty and rich. The combination of the smooshed background and the splash background is a great idea. It's so interesting to see the two different watercolor effects side by side (inlaid). Levi will love the cool birthday card! Thanks so much for hosting the fun challenge this month! I had so much fun making one and only splash backgrounds like the other participants did! You're leaving the CAS Watercolour DT with a fantastic finale. Thank you so much for all the wonderful inspiration and thoughtful comments, my friend! Hugs.. Hideko
