CAS Watercolour July Splash Watercolouring

Time for our CAS Watercolor July Splash Challenge!

Hosted by Nancy (me).

A fun and easy watercoloring technique.
After watching Loll's (Stamping with Loll) You Tube
Splash Watercolouring Background video: In 2:25 minutes you will be ready to create:-)

Using different watercoloring medium: reconstituted pigment powders,
watercolor paints, distress inks, dye inks, etc on different watercolor papers
will create different effects.

All the amazingly creative samples from the DT and our
Guest Designer: Marcia (marciakdesigns) will inspire you as well.

Here is my Splash Watercoloring Background Card!

Because I knew I would be hosting the Splash Background theme,
I have built up a stash of backgrounds:-)  Sure makes creating a card quick and fun!

This was my very favorite background created with Distress Oxide Inks.
I added 2 or 3 colors at a time with space in between onto my craft mat.
Spritzed with water using T.H. Spritzer.

Then the Splashing (pouncing) began using Fluid 100 Hot Press watercolor paper.
Be sure to use any type of watercolor paper.
The trick is to dry between layers of Splashing.  I used a heat tool.

I used a total of 7 DOX inks: Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry, Wilted Violet, Twisted Citron, Candied Apple, Cracked Pistachio and Spiced Marmalade.

I will be sharing more samples this month using different watercolor mediums:-)

I die cut the background using Poppystamps: "Floral Stem Collage".
Next I die cut the same image using SU Whisper White Thick CS.

Then watercolored the white stem with green Zig marker and inlayed the frame,
flower and stem into the splash background.
Attaching inlay using SU Fine Tip Glue Pen.

There is a separate flower in the die set that I die cut out of the white SU CS.
Next used my zig marker to color the flower
and then spritzed with water to give a more watercolored look.
When dry I attached flower and added Wink of Stella.  Very pretty IRL.

I stamped my PB "Happy Snippets" sentiment using MISTI.
Popped up main image with fun foam and Done!

I love the Splash colors and artsy look of the background.  Hope you do too!
You have until the 24th to join the fun at CAS Watercolouring.

Remember to keep your design Clean and Simple! You have until the 24th to play.
Hugs...

Adding to CAS Mix Up July Colour Your Die Cuts + Stamping + Your Choice Challenge.

I am sad to say that this will be my last month as a member of Loll and Bonnie's fabulous CAS
Watercolour Design Team,  but I will still play as often as possible.  I am still on the CAS Mix Up Design Team,  so not going away:-)
You are going to LOVE our new DT girl,  who will be starting in August:-)

Thank you so much Loll and Bonnie for the opportunity to learn so much about

Hope you all enjoy and plan along with this creative and easy challenge.
Love and Hugs...

  2. This is such a happy card! Love the bright summer colors, Nancy! I have this die and maybe it's time to dust it off. And if only I had the patience to dry between layers (grin). I too am impressed that you successfully got that many layers on this.

  6. This splash background is amazing, Nancy! I find it hard to get the little splatters and usually end up with more of a smooshed look! Your combination of colors is fun and artsy and I love the pretty flower and how you've inlaid the die cut! A fantastic challenge, my friend! We will miss you at CAS Watercolour! Glad you won't be far away!

    1. Thank you Bonnie...I am glad too! You girls have all become family:-)

I seem to have the best luck with my inks quite diluted and use a Splat pounce into the ink and of course always drying between layers. Good luck. BTW, Marcia K called it Snap and does it close to the edge of a table/desk.

  13. Oh, Nancy, this is beautiful! Your splashy background has such pretty colors and looks wonderful with the die and all the white. I can't believe you're giving up this team because I know you love it so much. Nice that you'll still be playing along and staying with the CAS Mix Up Challenge. A girl can only do so much, though. It's been a busy summer for us and we're going to be away a lot more yet to come. It's hard to keep up!
