So excited to see the Launch of Darnell's (djkardkreations)
Awesome New "Twofer Card Challenge"
The Prompt for January is "Feathers"
There are wonderful cards from Darnell and her talented DT giving samples of their "Feathers" cards.
Be sure and check out all the rules also on the Challenge Blog!
Here are my two cards using my NBUS (not a requirement) Feathers from STAMPlorations"Trendy Feathers 2" stamp set!
My Hello Card!
I began by stamping my STAMPlorations Feathers with Versafine Black pigment ink.
Next heat embossed with SU Clear EB powder.
Then sponged my Strathmore Mixed Media paper with Distress Inks: Peacock Feathers, Mowed Lawn and Faded Jeans. Really saturating the card front with ink.
Placed my NBUS ARTplorations "Flourishes" Stencil over my card front and secured with painters tape. Then sprayed Tsukineko Frost White ink onto my T.H. blending tool and
dabbed the ink through the stencil. Removed stencil and let dry,
which gave the background design a very pretty glimmery white effect.
Close Up
Next I placed my card front in MISTI and stamped and heat embossed the sentiment
from the Feather stamp set.
Sponged DI Black Soot around the edges and added rhinestones.
Then added fun foam and attached to SU Thick Whisper White CS and Done!
Now to think about my 2nd card using the same Feathers:-)
Challenges:
Voila' My CAS Feathers Card!
This card design went together in just minutes with the help of MISTI!
My card looks like a One Layer design, but actually I designed the Strathmore Mixed Media card front and then attached to the SU Thick Whisper White card base.
I stamped 2 feathers using Archival Jet Black ink in MISTI then cleaned, moved and stamped my 2nd set of feathers.
Next I used my Zigs to loosely watercolor all the feathers leaving quite a bit of white uncolored.
I looked at different sentiment sets for a sentiment that would
fit nicely in the middle. I used a NBUS sentiment from PB "heartfelt thanks" that fit perfectly.
Added a rhinestone to each feather and done!
I have always liked this quote and it seemed appropriate for our dear friend,
Darnell's aka Dolly's New Twofer Card Challenge:-) Thanks again for the Challenge, Dolly!
You have until the 24th to play along in the challenge! Hugs

Great designs on both cards Nancy! LOVE how you've created the background for your first card. Using the frost white paint through a stencil really gives a soft, but shimmery design. Beautiful!! And your second card with the multi-coloured feathers is also beautiful. Even though it's not a lot of colouring, the design and colours you've used make a big impact! Great work, my friend! Thanks for playing along with us at Twofer Card Challenge! xx
ReplyDeleteI had so much fun with both these card designs. It seemed a bit challenging at first, but once I chose my feathers set both cards just seemed to create themselves:-) All the samples from the DT really were great too. Such a clever and fun challenge and you get 2 cards in the end:-) How fun is that! Hugs..
DeleteGreat interpretation of the fun challenge. The feather stamps are fabulous and so are your both cards. Particularly love the first one and how you did the unique and effective background x
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are fantastic, Nancy! I love the way you've sponged and stenciled on the first card! A beautiful background for those amazing feathers! And your second card is so perfect for Darnell! I love how you've partially colored the feathers.
ReplyDeleteI love both your cards, Nancy! The partially colored feathers look wonderful, particularly your color choices. Your background- fantastic on the second one! Love the frost shimmer you used for the stenciling!
ReplyDeleteI love how different each of your cards are with the feather stamp image. Pretty cards! I adore that feather image...adding to my "wish" list that seems to grow every day. ;)
ReplyDeleteWonderful feathery cards, Nancy! I love the rich blues and greens you've used on your first card. Those colors draw the eye right in and makes me want to run my fingers over your card. And your more CAS second card is beautifully done! Love the light coloring on those very cool feathers. Thanks so much for joining us at the Twofer Challenge! : ) Bev
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards! Your coloring and backgrounds are fabulous!
ReplyDeleteNice job with the feathers, Nancy! I made cards for this challenge yesterday, but now to get them photographed. Such a beautiful, richly colored background on your first card, with a bit of frosty shimmer thrown in for good measure. I love the patterned feathers. That little touch of whimsy really appeals to me. Mae West was one wise woman, wasn't she?
ReplyDeleteNancy, your cards are perfect for the new challenge! Creating a frame out of feathers is very creative (love that sentiment, too) and the shimmery background on the second card is wonderful!
ReplyDeleteThank you playing with us at the very first Twofer Card Challenge and for your kind comment on my blog!
Nancy, these are two awesome cards. Love both of them. They are so pretty.
ReplyDeleteWell, I thought I owned every feather stamp and die available, but your feathers are new to me! (I have all the feathers and have used only a couple of them.) Love the backgrounds and the special "Twofer" creations!
ReplyDeleteA delicious twofer, Nancy ... the blended background with the shimmery flourishes is just gorgeous ... the bold black outline feathers are fabulous against it! Your feathery frame is wonderfully CAS and crisp ... with just the perfect touch of vibrancy in the watercolouring ... so very pretty! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteYou are fast in playing along! Awesome Twofer - especially the second card with those colorful feathers! Now I am just curious about you playing along with the spotlight over at STAMPlorations :)
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I knew the prompt..Feathers, I knew exactly, which stamps I wanted to use, which made it much easier. I really want to try the cool floral window technique at Spotlight. Your DT is always soooo inspiring-) Hugs
DeleteVery pretty design on BOTH of your cards! Love the sponged background with these neat feathers, but they look just as great with the coloring, and the fab placement of the images. I'm curious as to how you mixed the frost white to spray...I have a pot of it and is a bit like the silk acrylic that you either paint or daub around. The soft finish atop the blue-green sponging is very glimmer-y. Great entry for this new fun challenge. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteRe: the frost white spray...I just add a drop or so in my SU spritzer and then add water and shake well each time you use it. I love the pretty shimmer. Thanks for your sweet comment. Hugs..
DeleteAmen, I'm with you, sister Mae!! What a great feather background for that profound quote, Nancy! And I really love your first card, too, with that delicious color swirling behind your embossed feathers! Well done embracing the vision of the Twofer challenge and using your NBUS, too!! Thank you! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are awesome and impactful, Nancy! I love the beautiful blue/green colors of the sponged background and the stenciled frost white flourishes! Heat-embossing the feather images and the sentiment makes them pop against the colored background. Sponging around the edges of the panel creates a nice frame.
ReplyDeleteFor the CAS feathers card, your cool design plays a big role - I just LOVE it! The color choice of Zig markers is wonderful too! The card looks completely different and from the first one even though you used the same feather stamps. Great twofer entries, my friend! Hugs.. Hideko
TFS your thoughtful comment, my friend. I always appreciate the time you take to write your insightful comments. Love and Hugs...Nancy
DeleteWhat a wonderful feather image and your use of it on your cards is awesome.
ReplyDeleteLovely choice of image and absolutely love the colourways you've used. Not to mention the addition of a gem, how clever. Bet you'll enjoy sending these when you need to.
ReplyDeleteYour cards are both so gorgeous and so different, indeed! I love your inky background stenciled with the frosty shine! It's perfect with the gloss of the embossing. Such a great sentiment on your second card and your feathers have a high end boutique feel to them. Thanks so much for joining in on the fun over at Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteYour very welcome, Kara. All your DT cards were so inspiring. Such a fun new challenge in blogland. Hugs
DeleteI'll echo the others who have eloquently articulated how amazing your Twofer feather cards are; beautiful, both! Now, wearing my Inkspirational DT hat: your spotlight coloured feathers are absolutely stunning in framing the Mae West quotation. You've definitely captured my CAS-loving heart with this one! Thank you for sharing your creativity in the Inkspirational gallery!

Thank you Carol. I just added your badge and link to my 2nd card. Whoops..did not get done earlier. It is rare to do stamping only, but was fun and a challenge. Hugs...
DeleteHi! Your card jumped out at me because of the colours - my favourite! Beautiful use of colour, and the feathers as well - nice stamp! I especially like how you did the second card, witgh the patterns in the feathers! Lindart
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you for your sweet comment. Just wanted you to know the STAMPlorations Trendy Feathers 2 stamp set has 4 feather stamps, each with a different design. I only used 2 of the stamps for both of my cards. Hugs...Nancy
DeleteWonderfully contrasting cards showing the versatility of the stamp (and stamper!).
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Nancy!! Love the blue and green BG on your first card and your amazing colouring on the second card is stunning!
ReplyDeletethey look amazing Nancy...I haven't played yet but need to check it out.
