July CASEplorations Stenciled Mixed Media

When I saw Elina Stromberg's Gorgeous card for STAMPlorations July 2016 CASEploration Challenge I knew I had to join in the fun!  I LOVE Fall colors and stenciling.  Also we have plenty of family and friends with Fall birthdays :-)  I decided to leave off my sentiment for now.  I may just add a sentiment inside.  Just could not add anymore to my Card front...what do you think?

Here is Elina's Beauty...

I started with a piece of Strathmore Mixed Media paper.  I saturated the card front with Distress inks using blending tools.  I wanted to get the lighter shading in the middle like Elins's card so I added my yellow T.H. Distress Crayon and rubbed in with my finger.  Next I used Tim Holtz's Faded Dots stencil and sprayed with Glimmer Mist, which gave a ghosting effect.  Next I stenciled with TCW Time Travel Stencil sponging with Distress Inks.

I was so happy with the pretty glowing effect.  I sprayed again with more Glimmer Mist...It really, really shines IRL :-)  Sponged the edges with Distress Inks and popped up the sponged and die cut leaves from my stash.  Added a linen thread bow....and Done!  Loved the results.

Thank you again Elina for your awesome Inspiring card!

  1. WOW ... LOVE the mix of colours with this beauty, Nancy! Great design. The Faded Dots stencil look awesome with the glimmer mist. Very subtle design. And love the layering with the Time Travel stencil over top. Very cool. Your leaves so perfectly matched and add lots of dimension. Great take on Elina's amazing card.

  3. Beautiful fall colours, Nancy (though I don't want to think about fall yet!!). Love the way you layered the stencils! Since you asked for our opinions, I would put the sentiment on the inside if it were my card!

    1. Thanks for your comment and your opinion Susan. I just came in from 2 1/2 hrs of deadheading, trimming back and watering...it is feeling like an early Fall.

      Hugs, Nancy

  10. Like maria f. above, I love your stenciled touches of the "time flying" to your background. Afterall, the seasons are one way that we mark the passage of time--at least those of us who live in places where you experience seasons.

Gorgeous colors. I agree: add the sentiment on the inside. I think adding it to the front would detract from the impact of the images.
