Dry Embossed Gilding Flakes!

This "You Tube" Video shared by the GO7 girls was very helpful.

Amazing Embossed Gilding Flakes.

Here is my Snowflakes Tag Christmas Card...Enjoy!

I used a small scrap of SU Basic White 100# paper then added

 Scotch Double Stick Tape to the paper.

Then placed the scrap in a plastic container and carefully added pinches of the

Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes onto the cut cardstock in the container and

used my finger to burnish the flakes.  When completely covered I removed the

burnished piece and placed on my glass craft mat.

Then used a craft small brush to brush off the excess flakes into the container.

Then added the loose flakes from the container back into the Nuvo Jar.

No mess and/or flying Gilding Flakes everywhere😄

I then realized my piece was a good size for a Tag!

I die cut with CUTplorations "Stitched Tags Nesting Dies".

Then Dry Embossed my tag with Spellbinder 3D Embossing Folder 

"Flurry of Snowflakes".  My 1st time to use this wonderful folder.

Next I lightly added SSS White Pigment Ink directly to the raised dry EB snowflakes.  

The pigment ink was not drying so I added SU Clear EB Powder.  Then Very carefully heat EB with my heat tool.  Too much heat would have melted the gold gilding.

Whew...turned out!

Then Die cut the CUTplorations "Christmas Sentiments Dies" Merry sentiment

out of SU Red Glitter Paper and attached with Connect Glue using Fine Tip Bottle

and weighted down with large acrylic block.  

Added SU rhinestones and retired ribbon,

Next used the same 3D snowflakes folder for the dry embossed background.

Popped up the tag with craft foam and attached to the snowflakes background.

Then attached the layers to SU Basic White Cardbase

and Done😄

I was Very Happy with the results and also happy to add to my Christmas Stash!

Gilding Flakes Marbled Designer Paper

Inspired by GO7 Cardmakers April 2023 Dry Embossed Gilding Flakes Technique.

I Did Not use the same technique as the GO7 Girls, but was very inspired to Search

for Gilding Flakes Techniques on You Tube:-)

 I Discovered

Using Gilding Flakes to Create a Marbled Background

By Natasha Foote.

Natasha made her marbled background using Distress Oxide Inks and

Watercolor Paper.  I loved her background technique, but simplified my

background by using 

The Essential Craft Papers "Ink Drops-Ocean".

Here is my Gilding Flakes on Marbled Paper Background Big Hugs Card!

I cut my marbled paper and added Connect Glue using Gina K. Designs

 "Fine Tip Bottle",  

which I LOVE for Dies and fine controlled applications:-)

Next I placed the background piece in a plastic food container to help control the 

fly away Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes:-)  Then add gilding flakes and burnished 

with fingers.  

Removed from container and burnished more with finger and used craft brush over 

the entire background to remove excess flakes.

Gorgeous Shiny Marbled background!!

Attached background using Connect Glue to SU Basic Black Cardstock.

Then stamped PB "Special Sentiment" using Versafine Jet Black ink in MISTI and

heat embossed with SU Clear EB Powder.

Next Fussy cut sentiment using SU Papersnips and popped up onto background

 using SU Mini Dimensionals.  

Attached background to SU Basic White Cardbase

and Done!!!  

Loved the results and so Happy to be inspired again by our GO7 Cardmaker Friends:-)

Paper: SU Basic White 100# CS and Basic Black CS.  The Essential Craft Papers "Ink Drops-Ocean" craft paper.

Inks: Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes, Versafine Jet Black Ink. SU Clear EB Powder. Gina K Designs "Fine Tip Bottles" 3 in pkg. SU mini dimensionals, Plastic food container.

Dry Embossed Gilding Flakes Technique by Group of Seven Cardmakers.

Video Supplies:

• Card stock
• Double-sided sticky sheets
• Gilding Flakes
• Burnishing tool (Rub-it Scrub it from Ranger works really well)
• Embossing Folder
• Embossing machine
• Permanent Ink (Staz-on, Archival, etc.)

Technique Instructions:

Following the video above ...

• Cut card stock to size
• Add double-sided sticky sheet to card stock
• Remove cover sheet and place gilding flakes over top
• Burnish gilding flakes with fingers or burnishing tool
• Place gilding flake panel in embossing folder and run through embossing machine
• Remove panel from embossing folder and lightly swipe overtop with permanent ink to colour the highlighted design

Note:  I used double stick tape instead of double-sided sticky sheet.

I used my finger to burnish and Archival Jet Black Ink to lightly swipe over top

of dry embossed trees and had NO stickiness:-)

Also to prevent gilding flakes from flying all over I placed cut card stock in a plastic

rectangular container.  The video was very helpful!

My Supplies:

Stamps: Penny Black Jolly Snippets sentiment.

Paper: SU Basic White for cut card stock and cardbase and Black Mirror

Card by Tonic for framing.

Ink: Archival Jet Black for sentiment and lightly covered dry embossed trees.

Accessories: MB stitched rectangle die.  Sizzix #3D "Christmas Tree Pattern", 

which I used for the 1st time! 

Nuvo Gold Gilding Flakes. 3M Scotch Double Stick Tape.

Craft Foam to pop up framed main image.

Very easy technique using few supplies that created beautiful results:-)

I will be using the technique again...soon!
