CAS Christmas Card September Sparkle and or Shine

hosted by my dear friend,  the very CAS creative Hideko!
We all Love Sparkle and Shine for the Holiday Season!

I had so much fun with Sparkle and Shine Christmas card
that I made Four cards for my stash:-)

Here is the close up showing the sparkle and shine but way more sparkly IRL!

I began by using SU Basic White 110# cardstock for the Altenew "Organic Linen" 3D EB Folder background, which was my 1st time to use the 3D Folder.   Also the 1st time I used the Altenew Dazzling Diamond Glitter Cardstock 120# to die cut the
Ranger T.H. "Woodland Dies Trees".

After die cutting the tree with the glitter cardstock I punched out the center pieces
 with a toothpick.
Next used the same die to die cut a SU Cucumber Crush cardstock tree and
punched out the center pieces to inlay into the Glittery tree.

Next I die cut another tree with Strathmore Mixed Media 140# paper
keeping all the pieces in place.
Then used Connect Glue to attach the MM tree to the back of the Glittery Tree.
I repeated and added another MM tree with Connect Glue for a
nice thick 3 layer Glittery Tree!

There was a lot of Inlayed pieces going on,  but worth the effort.
I cut a narrow strip of the Altenew Dazzling Diamond Glitter paper and die cut
the Joyful from SU Red Glitter Paper using the CUTplorations
"Christmas Sentiments Dies" set and cut off the "ful" to make the JOY fit.
I die cut 3 more Joyfuls, trimmed and attached with glue.

Glued the Glitter Trim, Glittery Tree and JOY to the background and
attached all to SU Basic White Cardstock and Done!

Not exactly...I Loved the card and all the Glitter so made 3 more cards:-)
Whew...that was a lot of die cutting, gluing and inlaying, etc...But a beautiful
glittery way to add to my 2022 Christmas Stash:-)

Thank you Hideko for a really fun and inspiring Challenge, my friend!
 Love and Hugs,

Time for our CAS Mix Up Stencil Gesso Challenge Reminder . You are going to LOVE all the creative and beautiful CAS Gesso stenciled cards by our talented design team!
Thank you Hilary for a fun and creative challenge!

Beautiful cards in our gallery by our talented followers too😄

Here are awesome Gesso tutorial Videos chosen by Hilary

Gesso Resist by Kim Schofield (6:11)
Gesso Resist Background by Eileen Godwin (31:02)
Lavinia Stamps and A Gesso Resist by Eileen Godwin (first 12 minutes)

My Reminder Gesso card.  I had so much fun with this technique.

I am Loving Hilary's CAS Mix Up Stenciling with Gesso Challenge:-)
Thank you again Hilary for such a fun and easy technique.
I will definitely be using this Emboss Resist Gesso technique again!

I used ARTplorations "Bold Florals Slimline Stencil" for the Gesso technique.
I used masking tape to tape the stencil onto Fabriano 140# Cold Press watercolor paper.
Then used the same Emboss Resist technique that I used on my Gesso Launch Card.
I was again inspired by Eileen Godwin's Video.

Added a little Golden's Gesso white acrylic paint onto my glass mat.
Then used TH Sponge to add a thin amount of the Gesso thru the stencil,
using Eileen's technique.  That gave me smooth white flower petals. Let dry.
Removed and washed the stencil immediately in warm soapy water.

Next replaced stencil and used Altenew Mini Blending Brushes to add Distress Oxide
Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Worn Lipstick and Shaded Lilac and removed stencil.

Tip: I could not wipe off all the stray inks from the Gesso flower petals so I replaced the stencil and added another thin layer of Gesso, which took care of ALL the stray
inks on the white petals!

Next die cut the image with Memory Box Circle Stitched Die and die cut a
2nd larger circle from SU Basic White 110# Cardstock.

Popped up main image with craft foam and attached with Connect Glue to the
white larger circle.  Attached main image circles to SU So Saffron card base.

Added die cut CUTplorations "Smile" that is double layered for extra thickness
and added stamped with Archival Jet Black ink  Altenew "Label Love" Hello and Done!

I loved how this card Pops and the bright White flower petals and die cut Smile
against the bright yellow card base.  Hope you do too:-)

You still have until the 24th to play along.  Such a fun and easy Gesso Technique.

Love and Hugs,

CAS Mix Up Stencil Gesso Challenge

Time for the CAS Mix Up September Stencil Gesso Challenge hosted by the very
talented, Hilary (fiddling about).  You are going to be inspired by our awesome
Design Team and our very talented Guest Designer Sue (Cards by Q)

Hilary's Message and links to Gesso Stencil Techniques!

Hilary's Message
Gesso is primarily a surface primer that gives a uniform surface and is often used in mixed media projects, but in reality it can be much more than that. This month we would love to see you use gesso on your card along with your stencils. I have included some
video links below to help inspire you.

Video Tutorials:
Creative Ways to Use Gesso by Tiffany Sorlario (7:04)
Distress Oxide Gesso Resist with a Twist by Gerry van der Velden (11:35)
Gesso Resist by Kim Schofield (6:11)
Gesso Resist Background by Eileen Godwin (31:02)
Lavinia Stamps and A Gesso Resist by Eileen Godwin (first 12 minutes)

I used stenciling, Gesso, stamping, die cutting and heat embossing.

I was inspired to use Gesso with a stencil by watching the
by Eileen Godwin (first 12 minutes)!  Such a fun and easy technique:-)

I attached my Altenew "Watercolor Stripes Stencil" with Masking Tape over
Fabriano 140# Watercolor Cold Press Paper.

Added a little Golden's Gesso white acrylic paint onto my glass mat.
Then used TH sponge to add a thin amount of the Gesso thru the stencil,
using Eileen's technique.  That gave me thin smooth stripes.
Dries quickly.  Removed stencil.  Wash immediately in warm soapy water.

Replaced stencil and used Altenew Mini Blending brushes to sponge on
Distress Oxide Inks: Squeezed Lemonade, Picked
Raspberry, and Tumbled Glass. Let Dry and removed stencil.
Then used a slightly damp paper towel to wipe off DOX on the Gesso stripes.

Then die cut background with Spellbinders Square Hemstitch Die.

Placed background in MISTI and stamped STAMPlorations French Marigold Large
image with Versafine Black ink and heat embossed with SSS Clear EB Powder.
Popped up with craft foam onto SU Basic White card base.

Next die cut Rectangle Hemstitch for the STAMPlorations stamped and
heat embossed "Heartfelt Thanks" and attached with Connect Glue
to card base and Done!

I loved the shine on the heat embossed flower and sentiment and the pretty
soft pastel colors for the backgrounds.
Thank you Hilary for a fun and easy CAS Mix Up Gesso Challenge.
I look forward to using Gesso more often:-)
