STAMPlorations 3rd Birthday Blog Hop...Create a Birthday project inspired by this Mood Board.

Adding to STAMPlorations Never Ending Anything Goes Challenge

I was inspired by all the colorful birthday images.  I used my ARTplorations "Retro Circles" with Tim Holtz Alcohol Inks.  I LOVED the results.

This is a simple technique.  I just taped my stencil over a 3" x 5 1/2" piece of Yupo Paper.  Then I dripped 4 Alcohol Inks: Watermelon, Citrus, Sailboat Blue and Wild Plum carefully over the stencil letting the inks flow naturally into each other.  Then I lifted up the stencil carefully.  I chose colors that would hopefully not turn muddy and I was pleased that they did not.  I had another piece that did not turn out as well,  but used it for punching out my SU Bitty Butterflies.  I knew the alcohol ink would stain my stencil,  but it just now looks loved!

I stamped my STAMPlorations "Happy" from my Happy Sentiment Builders set onto SU Whisper White Thick CS using Archival Black ink.  The birthday from the same set was stamped with SU White Craft Ink onto Basic Black CS and cut out and attached below the stamped Happy.

My only embellishments were the butterflies and SU basic pearls.  I really am pleased with my colorful happy birthday card for David and Shery.  You guys are the BEST!

By the Way David and Shery,  all the DT samples using Deepti's new "Kathryn's Big Wishes" stamp set are adorable just like your baby Kathryn :-)

STAMPlorations Birthday Blog Hop lasts until Tuesday July 5th 11:55 p.m. PDT.  There are so many ways to win prizes and have fun!

Butterfly and Splat Happiness

I promised you more Alcohol Ink samples...here is a Memory Box Effera Butterfly Wings die cut butterfly cut from one of my samples. I die cut the Rhone Butterfly Wings from SU gold foil paper.  I am so pleased with how butterfly turned out.  I actually made 4 with slight differences.  The Splat is from my Tim Holtz "Splatters" stencil using T.H. Distress Inks and Goldens Molding Paste. I really enjoyed creating this CAS Freestyle card.

I also Heat Embossed my STAMPlorations "Fond Expressions 2" sentiment.  The gold accents on the butterfly and sentiment really helped balance the design.

Here is a Close Up...

My card is for the CAS Mix Up June Challenge: Stamping + Die Cuts + Your own Choice.  My choices are Alcohol Ink painting, Heat Embossing, Stenciling and EB paste.  All that and my card is still Clean and Simple...love that...

CAS Die Cut Copper Tree

Here is my CAS Mix Up June Reminder Card using Stamping + Die Cuts + Acrylic Block Watercolor Stamping with Zig Markers and Alcohol Inks on Copper Tree.

This card was so much fun...I know I say that a lot,  but anytime I am stamping I am having fun!

I was playing around with swiping my Zig Markers onto my Acrylic Blocks and then spritzing with water and Stamping onto Arches 140# Cold Press W/C paper,   I  also played with some die cut copper pieces.  Coloring them with Adirondack Alcohol Inks.  I used Salmon and Pink Sherbet Alcohol Ink to bring out the pinks and orange glow on my heated copper die cut tree.

The Sizzix "Medium Pine Tree" Die Cut was laying next to my watercolored piece and I said, "Wow,  I like that..."  Yes,  sometimes I talk out loud to myself!  I Die cut the layers using my MB Stitched Rectangles and Die Cut the SU Christmas Greetings Peace.  I Die cut the Peace twice for extra thickness using Arches Cold Press and W. White Thick then used my Zigs to color the Whisper White Thick layer.  I assembled my card using dimensionals and used my SU Fine Tip Glue Pen for my Die Cut Peace.

I realized after all that assembling that I had not stamped an image...not sure if my acrylic stamping counted so.....I searched my Christmas stamps and found the perfect little stamp "& Love"  from SU's  "Holly Jolly Greetings."  One thing I never get rid of are Sentiment Stamp Sets! I used my MISTI for perfect placement and Archival Black Ink for my "& Love." This set is still available and is in the new SU Annual Catty June 1st 2016 to May 31st 2017.

I am so happy with how my Die Cut Christmas card turned out.  Hope you like it too.  Enjoy and Happy Stamping. You still have until June 24th to join our  CAS Mix Up June Challenge :-)

Alcohol Ink Landscape Retirement

My first attempt at Alcohol Ink Landscape Painting!  I am very pleased with the results all because of 2 DVD's by June Rollins that a friend let me borrow.  They were Dreamscape Landscape 1 and Landscape 2 DVD's by June Rollins.  I could never have had such good results without June's expert instructions.  I made 4 samples so you will be seeing more...at least pieces :-) Two more items to add to my art wishlist !

This landscape reminded me of the Utah Redrock Country where we have spent many backpacking and trailer camping trips.  I thought it was perfect for a  Happy Retirement card.

Yupo paper is a must I think for any alcohol ink creations.  The ink moves much more on the Yupo compared to Glossy paper.  Also you need plain alcohol for moving the inks.  91% is recommended.  I used 70%, but will be getting 91% to see the difference.  There are plenty of You Tube videos online for different techniques.  Lots of inky fun ideas.  Enjoy....

My card is also for this months CAS Mix Up June Challenge: Die Cuts + Stamping + Your choice..my choice..Alcohol Ink Landscape.

CAS Mix Up June Challenge ends on June 24th.  Don't forget to make your card a Clean and Simple Mixed Media creation.  Have fun!

CAS Congratulations Grad

I had so much fun using 2 Zig Smooshed backgrounds that I made on a recent trailer camping trip. This is a High School Graduation card for our great nephew.  Colton is a redhead and I thought he would like these colors.  I am also sharing the Inside of his card that holds his Amazon Gift Card.

I Die Cut my 1st watercolored smooshed layer with my MB Stitched Rectangle Die.  The main image I stamped with my STAMPlorations "Winged Things" designed by Shirley Bampton.  I LOVE this set that has 12 winged pieces:-)   I framed my ATC layer by doodling with my Macro 03 pen.  My SU Congratulations sentiment was heat embossed with Versamark and SU white embossing powder. Each layer was popped up with foam tape. Easy and fun results.

INSIDE I stamped the sentiment and used all scraps to add the pocket and embellishments.

Congratulations to all the Graduates out there.  May your Dreams come true !

I am entering in several challenges...

CAS Mix Up June Challenge

The CAS Mix Up May Challenge was filled with Gorgeous Samples of Heat Embossed Mixed media Cards.  Thank you for joining our challenge.  Here is this months  CAS Mix Up June Challenge.

I can hardly wait to see all the Gorgeous and Creative Die-cut cards this month.  Die-cuts have become so popular the last few years and work so well on CAS designs.  I used my new Penny Black "Trio of Trees" Die-cut set using 2 of my trees on my card.  The really fun part was using "Juniper" and "Pesto" Ranger Adirondack Alcohol Ink refills on a 5" x 7" piece of "Yupo" synthetic paper and watch the magic begin.  The way the alcohol ink spreads is so cool.  I used the lighter "Juniper" color 1st and when dry added the "Pesto".  Let dry and then Die-cut my 3 tree dies twice.  Now I have 4 extra trees for a future project :-)

I decided next to try for a sky background using "Stone Washed" Alcohol Ink.  This time I lightly touched the blue shade to my sponge blending tool and dabbed the ink onto a scrap piece of Yupo until I got the look I liked.  I then Die-cut the background with my Memory Box "Stitched Rectangles Dies" and my card front to make an "Inlayed Die-cut" frame.

I loved the results.  I attached the fir tree to the background with my SU Thin Tip Pen.  Then Die-cut the oak tree again using canvas paper and attached the inked tree for extra thickness and popped up with dimensionals.  To finish my card I stamped the SU "Too Kind" sentiment onto my Arches WC paper using my MISTI and Memento London Fog (grey) ink.  Popped up my card front and done.

I did not need to use WC paper,  but liked the textured thicker look.  I bought my Yupo paper at our local craft shop.  You can find at Art Stores or just google online.  You can also use glossy paper with alcohol inks.  I was very pleased with the Yupo paper.  It is a synthetic paper and does not tear,  but cuts beautifully with dies and cutting tools.

Here is a Close-Up......

Here is the link to video of  Tim Holtz Demo's Alcohol Inks on Yupo at CHA 2016 The video was invaluable I thought.
